Had my clarinets stolen in December of 2019. I'm re-outfitting my case. In my case, I have the following: Mechanical pencil (2), Valentino self-adhesive cork strips (available on Amazon), cork grease, swab, extra ligature (Rovner), a small attachable tuner, a polishing cloth, 3, 4 reed cases that are color coded for reed strength, and a set of Ponds Oil absorbing pads, which takes the place of cigarette paper, and Ezo denture pads - these great wax pads that are perfect for when your lip is tired! You cut the Ezo pads into quarters and get hundreds of uses out of a box!
No tuner for me. First chair sets the pitch. On swabs, I see to that mine have a reliable string on both ends, so that you can pull them backwards if caught (oboe inspired). A couple of jeweller's screwdrivers is especially a must for my otherwise perfect 1890 (?) plateau metal clarinet when outdoor playing. Extra ligatures - check - metal, plastic, leather, and *plastic* mpc caps. Rubber bands, pieces of cork. Glue for cork slices. Brass valve oil for the joints when I'm on my Leblanc contrabass.
An ERASER is a must. Things change during rehearsal. Important that we only use soft pencil to write on a Chart. Cigarette paper on a soggy pad/tone hole is risky, it can shrivel up & bits can go inside the hole & flatten the note (happened to me & it was embarassing ). COTTON BUDS for wiping out the barrel & the female of the top joint & bell when packing up. Moisture left there can warp the wood over time. You gave a really good check list to get us through the gig. This stuff we usually learn by making mistakes on the job. Thanks for sharing that. You are a good teacher & I bet you play like a pro. All the best.
When your lips get tired and hurt during a performance make sure to bring blistext chapstick because the mint makes your lips not hurt anymore and for the tired part, just gotta keep going lol 😂
great video. i should definitely get a small fingering chart to carry in my case. the one i have is a huge poster which is good but useless to take to practices.
I used to keep a swab in my case. Someone pointed out that it was bringing in moisture. So swap is out unless I am traveling and they are dry. I have a clarinet stand fits in the bell and goes with me in the case.I also keep cleaning paper for the pads handy. Yamaha sell cleaning paper cheap enough and seam to be reusable.
I see that you put a link for the reed case. There is no clarinet option on the website. Which instrument I should select for clarinet reed case? Great video Laura thank you!

How do you know your keypads on your clarinet have water in it?
Edit: Also, do you have any tips for when your lips get tired during a performance?
