    I feel like they could've saved the season with a lot of balancing changes that aren't specifically targeted towards making strong operators weak, but making useless operators viable in their own sort of niche. Just fun buffs, that don't shift the meta tooooo hard but give players something new to discover, because this is just deadly omen pt. 2

    • @Willusive
      @Willusive  2 месяца назад +2

      Absolutely, if they can't deliver on proper new content for whatever reason they should try to include a few more balancing changes just so there's more reasons to try out new operators. Right now if you play New Blood, once you've tried Striker and Sentry there's not much else to do. You can either play worse versions of Solis and Fenrir, or play standard and try and get the Stadium maps. Would be nice to see a random buff to bad characters like you say, so we can feel excited to hop on Sens, Tachanka, Ela etc. We've had mid-season patches with more intrigue around them than this season

    It's obvious to everyone that Ubisoft has been adding less and less content for siege over the years.
    While this is partially because the rate of content in siege's early days was high, the playcount and revenue for the game is many times higher than those early days.
    The reasons behind slow development are typically some mix of high technical debt (bad code), outdated game engine, excessive bureaucracy (red-tape) and inexperienced employees (high turnover).
    You gotta remember, no-one expected that siege would last this long. Hence, the code behind the game would be made to last maybe four years. Not eight.
    Nevermind that siege's engine (despite receiving upkeep) is incredibly old in terms of game development and computers.
    Moreover, siege was originally created to be a mission-based singleplayer game; a radically different type of game.
    To make the situation even worse, Ubisoft has a major sexual harrassment scandal causing many talented employees to leave the company (if my memory is correct).

    • @JulienWasTaken
      @JulienWasTaken 2 месяца назад +1

      Valid points, but I think a dev once (idk like a year ago) said that the engine isn't that big of a problem, but more so the spaghetti code that comes with it because, like you said, the devs never thought the game would last 9 years and become this big. And while I agree that these things CAN influence the rate of content/quality of it, they just came off deadly omen which was one of the best seasons in YEARS, which makes this season, in comparison, seem even more barebones than it already is.

    • @jamesjackson7324
      @jamesjackson7324 Месяц назад

      No. The reason the content slowed down a bit, is because it's been around 10 years. Every single game usually releases content in plenty at the start of a games life. It needs that. We are far enough into the games life that you DO NOT NEED 2 ops every season. You DO NOT NEED a new map every single. That's honestly a ridiculous thing for people to expect on a game this old with a community this wierd about changes in the game. It's fine. Sure it's a filler season, buts that gonna happen with any live service game thats been around this long. Period.

      1. The siege player base is vastly larger than when it first launched. More money = more resources.
      2. The drought of content should coincide with less bugs, more quality-of-life and general maintenance. It has to some extent; but it's clear that extent is somewhat minor and often delayed.
      In comparison to the starting years of siege, the maintenance and/or development is odd. This discrepancy heavily implies that something is inhibiting its development.

    • @jamesjackson7324
      @jamesjackson7324 Месяц назад

      @unitedairlanes5500 no. ANY LIVE SERVICE GAME, PERIOD, that has been out for a number of years or even even decades will always simmer down content once the game is established. It is part of a games cycle. CSGO is an example. Plus they are putting alot of resources towards cheaters and things. For yall to expect 2 operators, a new map, and a bunch of new new new everything season is not feasible and completely ridiculous. They actually spoiled us in the beginning,and now we think that is standard. It's not. Thegame is established enough, the player base is there, the core gameplay is actually at its best despite a few bugs here of there, etc. We will never get 2 ops and a map every season. Ever again. Do not expect that. 1 map a year or even 2 is fine. Then, you have to try to balance a game around the most inconsistent player base in the world on what they want.

    people don't like the stadium maps because they're boring, mostly. they look super uninteresting with the literal cardboard walls and the metal props. every other map looks and (more debatably for some) plays like a real place in the world but the stadium is, both in-game and in-universe, artificial and forced. the layout is literally made up of parts of other, more interesting and better maps stitched together.
    not trying to persuade you or anything, just trying to explain why people aren't big fans. there's also the fact that they're a direct product of the god awful esports arc of the lore and they remind people of it.
    i think if they gave the maps a complete visual overhaul they might be more interesting. have the rooms look like actual rooms, or make them distinct in some way at least. maybe they could make them look like movie sets? maybe there's a movie being made on Rainbow and they've recreated the team's most famous operation locations? i don't know, i'm not a game designer

    • @Willusive
      @Willusive  2 месяца назад +3

      Thanks so much! Here’s hoping. As for the stadium maps, id argue one of the most appealing factors for people was the simplistic and decluttered aesthetic since it made for less issues with debris and such. And I do think most people’s main issue was the glass, and I just think that even if the maps were terrible and despised in ranked, it’d at least be interesting and would shake up the playlist a little more for this season. I honestly do think they might at some point add them back into ranked based on the feedback of the maps in standard. I do agree that Stadium Bravo is relatively boring, but Stadium 2020 was a mix between old Oregon and Hereford so I don’t think people would find that too boring. And yeah that Esports arc in the lore was awful so I get the distain for the maps as a whole

    • @TennessineGD
      @TennessineGD 2 месяца назад +1

      @Willusive you're probably thinking about this more competitively, but i don't know if "less debris" is a relevant selling point for a majority of the player base. while it probably plays better with less props it still makes it really uninteresting visually.
      even with less props, there could be at least something to differentiate different areas but all you get is text literally spelling out the names of rooms on doors. it's lame!
      what i'm trying to say is that even if they create a new stadium map that is literally the best map in the game competitively, i still wouldn't like it and wouldn't want to play it over a more interesting map like chalet or villa or coastline. people are excited about stadium alpha not because it's a good competitive mix of hereford and oregon but because it's a night map in 2024 and some people really want those back, even though they're probably worse competitively.

      @Willusive  2 месяца назад +1

      Brilliant question that I'm not sure on the answer to unfortunately. I know this cannot occur in ranked anymore as a recent requirement to enter ranked is to have at least 10 (I think) operators unlocked. As for other playlists, I'm not sure, I've heard people say that every edition of the game now comes with the pathfinder operators unlocked by default, but I am not sure that is true. Either way, I'm sure Ubi thought of this scenario and has some plan to avoid/account for it, and if they don't I'm sure someone will find out what happens in the first week of the season.

    Recruits fine imo, they are now actually playable and the idea of custom yours to represent yourself like they said is great the potential of that is huge for alot of people.
    My ideal season has meta changes reworks alot of balancing and improvments with the occational new op/map, WoW/OW/LoL well any game really proves more is rarely the way *cough sens*, but Better is always the way.
    Membership is fine if you are a skin enjoyer and buy all the battle passes its reasonable value so enjoy, if you dont like skins enjoy the battle pass the way you have for years, if neither well its not even slightly aimed at you and thats cool too enjoy your day. the timing was abit stupid if they dropped that news months earlier or even just seporate it wouldve been more rationally recieved. realistically if someone was nutural about season 2 ad new monitisation to the pot they are likely to swing to negative.
    the reality is the game is getting less self sufficant every year and this membership could provide the budget the devs need to be more effective and give us what we all hope for less delays better seasons more active changes to everything from content to anti cheats then its a great thing for the game.
    Just hope some of the money is reinvested into the teams looking after the game.

    HONESTLY streamers need to chill out, last season was the R6 RECOVERY of the game SEASON, now its the worst state of the game... CHILL. they made good progress, they slow down, next one will be nice, stop click bating every damn season...

    • @Willusive
      @Willusive  2 месяца назад +7

      There's "slowing down" and then there's this season. I believe this entire year is a "slow down" on content in preparation for next year's milestone, that's why there's no new maps and only two new operators for the whole year. But that's why this season is frustrating, because it feels like its slowing down EVEN MORE than what it already was to what many would consider to be an unacceptable level. Combine this with membership being announced at the same time, and you're gonna have a disappointing season. That's why the title is the way it is, that's why the thumbnail is the way it is. It is not clickbait for me to say the season has "big problems" in the title and deem it "disappointing" in the thumbnail, and then make a video listing the big problems with it and explaining why its disappointing. You by all means may and evidently do disagree, which is great, but my opinion differing from yours doesn't make it clickbait.
