Boeing is pleading guilty to criminal charges over the 737 MAX crashes that killed 346 because it failed to properly inform the FAA on its MCAS. Meanwhile, the Federal Aviation Administration has issued a new airworthiness directive that requires over 2,000 Boeing 737 aircraft to be inspected.

so pay some anonymous company to tell you what are trusted sources. What could possibly go wrong.
this isn't terrible news anymore, this is considered normal news for boeing
The relatives of the 346 victims won't be able to drag Boeing in front of the court.
That's an even dirtier deal than what Boeing failed to honor.
Too big to fail, but not too big to k*ll.
🤔🤷
Yep it's the Boeing brand. Nothing is going to change until they move back to Seattle and put engineers in charge...... Bloody unlikely, so expect more of the same.
$250M is what? 2.5 737 MAX 7?
problem is they have ruined their reputation with the FAA and especially the European and other world equivalents. They will now have to waste millions more proving every aircraft's airworthiness to each administration whereas in the past if the FAA approved it most other bodies would consider that very nearly good enough.
they will also struggle to raise capital now as their brand has been badly damaged as will their risk rating.
This just shows that laws in the US don't apply to you if you're rich or a company.
A world without boeing won’t work well.
He is absolutely right . If you have cash in US capitalism nobody will sue you @l0z586
@@l0z586 so they should just be immune from prosecution?
@@l0z586 The world will, the US won't, as it provides many jobs, but most importantly, it provides defense products and services, which the US is unwilling to purchase abroad.
That's correct and proved many times... laws in USA are fixed in favor of the corporate rich fat individuals of the greed board. Dennis Muilenburg, Dave Calhoun and all those need to be prosecuted and serve some jail time. Otherwise that company among others will never be trustworthy anymore 😒
For me, the biggest question is what happened or what will happen to the CEOs that oversaw the destruction of Boing. They decided to prioritize the shareholders instead of investing in the company. And now what?
Don’t worry 🙄 They will get their bonuses 🎉
Boeing CEO needs to be fired and jailed
Together with whole board of directors and many top managers.
@@fluoxethine Agree
He won't be jailed
Yes, but he'll probably get an increase in his bonus, that seems to be the Boeing wsy
@@rogerwilco4736 It's the American way.
Because of the crashes happening with Ethiopian and Lion Air... justice was not served as fast and the way the families wanted. Imagine if it was Delta or American Airlines.
Your people should stop thinking about themselves.
yup, would've been done before covid. Even if it were an airline like Southwest or Air Canada.
It would not have mattered.
Of course heads would be rolling if it happened to their people and they wouldn’t be facing just fines.
@@SN57ONE only ones thinking about themselves are Boeing management
The FAA should also shoulder some blame in this debacle which is Boeing. They gave Boeing lots of leeway regarding manufacturing and safety inspectors were Boeing employee's.
The FAA needs more help. But they don't have enough funds to hire people at their ACOs (aircraft certification office) so....
at this point the FAA should just force boeings entire management to leave and replace it. The ENTIRE management at boeing NEEDS to go
And who's going to replace them, you?
@@SN57ONE count me in
Yes sir
Cooperate Greed ruined boing commercial aircraft
@@SN57ONE idk much about us law if they were to do this it wouldn’t be abuse of power, it would be making the skies safer again.
@@SN57ONElet's start with the surviving whistleblowers. They'd deserve such a position for all the stress and fear they went through.
I'm a little surprised that other aircraft types possibly using the same PSU were not included in THE AD.
CEO and other Senior mgrs need jail time.
Well they wont
They will get even bigger Boni instead. Too big to fall….
no
I wonder how resident Boeing fan Nicky will spin this into also being an Airbus issue, and that Boeing is doing fine...
He'll probably say that Airbus needs to plead guilty for whatever's going on in his head.

You do know who ends up paying all these fines and penalties? Yes, the consummers! It ends up just being further taxation by the government. Ultimately, those fines will be paid out of ticket prices and ultimately go into the government fingers.
This is what happens when you cut corners to save money and just caring about making money. Boeing needs to really start fixing their problems.
They are.
@@nickolliver3021too late now Nicky
Bean counters need to be in a room all of their own and not the C.E.Os. office.
Great sponsor Thanks Dj!!
Imo the Max is a plane that should have never been & Boeing have been given a sweetheart deal yet again US DOJ gives away a sweetheart deal
The original 'sweetheart deal', was negotiated with a prosecutor. She then left the DOJ and got a new, higher paid job....with Boeing's lawyers! Just a coincidence really!!
Those sweethearts should be locked up. They murdered people.
The neo should have never been either
@@nickolliver3021oh really did NEO fell out of the sky, sticky Nicky
@@user-nu1sq2fz8s Sticky aneta a320s have fallen out of the sky
Previous anamalies related to malfeasances have sadly morphed into nornalities as share price is prioritized over aircraft's quality. Boeing must be liable for all defects and increased oversight from regulators should linger to preempt further issues.
It is a slap on the wrist... again.. for what I read, the last fines and compensations were absorbed in taxe breaks and/ or cover by insurance.. Until manager people go to jail, nothing will change..
No one goes to jail these days so change will happen as irs the only eay forward
At least they are agreeing to plead guilty (but why didn’t they do that after it happened instead of now)
Because they were forced to do so, as there is no other way out of the mess they brought themselves into, and also because the news are saturated with negative Boeing stories, so not many will notice this plea.
Awesome Video Dj's Aviation🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
Why the 737 MAX is still allowed in the air is beyond me. Not a chance I’d step onboard one.
Very obvious reason. Money
I have been on one and I am pretty scared to go on another 737 in 8 days
Because it has been gone through by the FAA, who has determined it is safe..
@@ACPilot no money . Boeing has built a lot of them and needs to sell them onto the world markets . Problem is nobody wants them because Airbus makes much safer and better planes noawadays than Boeing
It’s media blowing up Boeing Blunders and not really talking much about Airbus Accidents. I’ve flown on a few MAXs and they are actually quite nice. These were slightly older ones refitted with the new MCAS so i had no worries about that, and they seemed put together fine at the time. Boeing just needs to step back, and look at their operation and find their weak link causing all these problems
bad news after bad news, don't know when it will stop
People need to be held accountable, not just the corporation. Ignoring safety and falsifying information is a human decision.
What I don’t understand is at the first moment those downed planes pilots had elevator issues why they didn’t just flick the 2 stab trim switches to off? Did they do that but mcas still took control of pitch?
On Lion Air 610, the pilots were not informed about the MCAS system. So, they didn't know there was a switch to stop it.
On Ethiopian 302, they actually managed to turn it off during the 2nd dive. However, turning it off means that they have to re-trim the plane manually by cranking the wheel by hand. Because they were going so fast, the aerodynamic forces were too strong to fight against, so eventually, they crashed.
My understanding is that its insurance company will pay at least 50% of the fine - pointless !!
For national security purposes, Boeing needs to be broken up.
if its an airbus, then thats a plus, but if its a boeing, i ain't going.
Then don't fly
You are so right 👍👍👍👍
@@nickolliver3021no it's pretty easy to just fly their much better competition instead 👍 hope you can dislodge your weird a** diehardism for such a horrific and terrible company like Boeing
@@omi._.jalalo why should it just be better to fly the competition instead? Why should I? Isn't their comparison a horrific and terrible company as well?
@@omi._.jalalo Comac?
I am still unsure why Boeing opted to retain the ancient 737 fuselage over the much newer 757 - had they put the engines on the 757, there would have been no need to MCAS and that would have been a better solution - shorten the fuselage to a -800 (or -8) size and it’s the best of both worlds. My suspecion is that the 737 was more profitable and thus the choice to go that route.
The reason is quite simple really. By 2003 the 757 order book had dried up. They hadn't gotten an order for a new 757 after that...and there wasn't any on the horizon. Between 2000-2003, they received only 87 total orders. So Boeing stopped production. The 737 had a significant backlog, and orders still coming in with solid volume. With production lines still humming along, it was the only narrowbody Boeing had. Plus...al of the 757 tooling was destroyed. The 757 is my favorite aircraft. It's a marvelous piece of engineering. However, it really isn't built for the eco-friendly fuel sipping demands of today. So, it'd need more than just re-engining. They'd really need a cleab sheet design.
@@toms1348well they didn't make any clean sheet design did they ?
@@user-nu1sq2fz8s, no they didn't. But that wasn't my point. I was simply explaining why the 757 production ended and why it wasn't revived.
@@toms1348 my point was that Boeing made a huge mistake that decided to go for old design on the 737 . And killed 346 innocent people
@@toms1348
With all due respect, you haven't explained why the 757 wasn't developed further instead of the 737. In fact your reply defies logic.
If the 757 production line was becoming idle, then wouldn't that be a perfect time to take on a new development of the existing aircraft and NOT destroy the tooling? If at the time the 737 was still selling well, then let that continue until the 757 Max was ready, when both production lines could have shared manufacture.
What appears to have happened, is that the management terminated the 757 line because they had no 757 Max on the drawing board and couldn't hang around. They had to destroy the tooling. Maybe they anticipated a clean sheet design, but then decided to develop an existing airframe, in order to cut costs. With the 757 capacity destroyed, it had to be the 737. That's a fault of management again.
Im no expert on Boeing, but I am logical, and this version makes more sense to me................
What happens when management tells the engineers to hand the reins over to the bean counters.
This isn’t even bad for Boeing, it’s an A/D every manufacturer gets major A/Ds on their aircraft
Thats what you get when the company is run by greedy bussinessmen not engineers.
So which executives are going to jail? I'll wait. That's the only way to actually make them care.
It's been one shady event after another at Boeing. Some execs need to serve some hard time before the company can ever hope to turn the corner and regain public confidence.
Those Execs need jail time!
What about compensation for the victims families?
They’ll be in litigation for years…
My thoughts are. How does Boeing survive this financialy.? The debt has to be staggering
They have a lot of military contract's every thing from keeping the old B52 going to lot's of fighter jets and other things
So when will they release the 737 max pro + ultra?
“Safety programs”. Doesnt help any of the planes already delivered.
News should be ok as they announced FAA approval for 777X
This is Comacs prime time to step up C919 (i know it won't happen) production, boeing facing difficulties in court, and airbus facing difficulties with the Neo engine problems.
They shouldn’t have plead guilty. It wasn’t done on purpose. Poor maintenance and pilot training caused the crashes.
Big deal. you do realize these fines are paid off with the sale of like 2 planes. its not significant
Increased oversight of Boeing is not terrible news, that's good news for everyone (ultimately even for Boeing).
If your an airline, why would you order Boeing over airbus? It’s just a risk you don’t need to take.
"Terrible News for Boeing". That's good news!
"Boeing is by far the largest foreign OEM in terms of sourcing from India, with over $1 billion annually through its large and growing network of 300+" supplier partners, with over 25 percent Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), that are an integral part of our global supply base.

A slap on the wrist. Typical of US regulators. The corporations are in control.
Yes money 💰
The more regulations get put on Boeing the more pressure they will feel and more cutting corners they will do ! It will be a vicious circle
This is a free kick for Boeing. A trial would most likely have revealed facts that boeing has now successfully suppressed.
MCAS did boeing dirty
Let's just be blunt. Boeing Died the moment that they merged with McDonnell Douglas back in the 90's. This company hasn't been Boeing ever since. This is now...."McBoeing Douglas"

Terrible news for Boeing! 😂😂
This 'news' is 2 weeks old, Boeing pretty much got away with another slap in the wrist. The lawyers of the victims wanted Boeing to pay USD 24 billion, which is flat out insane, but so is a less than 300 million dollar fine.
Regarding the 737 AWD, as usual, this vlogger tries to paint the issue in the worst light possible. It was Boeing who first notified airlines, back in early June, so over a month ago, before the FAA made it a directive.
Apparently, Boeing switched vendors of the adhesive straps they use to secure the oxygen units in 2019, and recently observed that some of the units had shifted by three quarters of an inch, so Boeing is going back to the original vendor.
There's nothing that would cause any of the repairs, if necessary, to exceed the $85 reported, but on this channel, the worse it looks for Boeing, the better. SMH.
I still don't understand why Boeing is in the hot seat. Shouldn't the company that these airlines use to maintain their aircraft, be the ones in the hot seat. Sounds like they weren't doing their job in asking the right questions and bringing any concerns forwards to the appropriate people.
Boeing as a manufacturing company owns the product liabilities (including qa/qc). Yes end users (airlines) do need to perform their due diligence in utilizing those products as per industry standards and make sure crews are well trained. This is reflective of the recent anemic sales by Boeing against Airbus. Pray for the victims of the crashes and their families.
@@deansaid937 Definitely not saying Boeing isn’t part of the problem. The issues with the KC-46 Pegasus, and now Starliner, the company as a whole is really falling apart. Starts at the top and trickles down.
Dj, speak a little less and a little slower
It’s Alaska airlines, not Alasker. I know you’re from Australia, but if you’re going to be speaking internationally please try to hear how the word is spoken in the country of origin speak clearly.
Also, it’s not always the manufacturer. The airlines have a responsibility to educate their pilots.
I have 6 airline captains friends who fly domestically and global and they’ve all said this wouldn’t have happened here in the US.
The news media which you are now part of have been relentless on Boeing. Doesn’t matter if the oil is low or a tire falls off, the media always points the finger at Boeing.
Use common sense before opening your mouth. Think instead of a knee jerk reaction.
Thank you
Boeing needs to shut down for good, Airbus, Comac, Embraer, and Bombardier needs to rule the aviation world.

Old news newly presented by a Boeing hater.
Old news? What has it been? Three days since the guilty plea? Yeah, he is way behind the curve. Oh, I guess he hates Airbus too, since he reports on all their missteps. They just haven't had many lately, other than supply delays. You must not be a long time follower of this channel.
