  • An eyewitness account what happened in Warsaw on the first day of Martial Law in 1981. The independent trade union 'Solidarność' (Solidarity) was banned and many activists were arrested. Some photos taken by the producers have never been published before.

    No way!!! You were actually there when those tanks rolled in by kino Moskwa? That's a famous still photo during that Era. Amazing story! I was born in Warsaw lived by Plac Konstytucji.

      Yes! I was there and stayed opposite cinema "Moskwa" looking and the tanks and trying to take a picture...The best known and famous photo took Chris Niedenthal.

    I returned to Britain a month before martial law was declared, and stayed here ever since. The West was the best! But I do miss the old country. Cheers
