Thanks for your reaction (and thanks Steven)! Voice Play recently released a stunning cover of "Stand By Me" and somehow it has been overlooked and not reacted to much- Please check it out! Don't worry about the pauses- we enjoy your appreciation and analysis and come back for more- thanks again!
Like a lot of stuff that Voiceplay does, I never heard of it, never heard of Kurt Schneider. Since this is on Kurt's channel, it is easily overlooked, thanx for getting to it. Thanx, Steven, for requesting it. And please, get to their version of Stand By Me!
Kurt is actually playing that keypad- at the very beginning, he samples Eli (and possibly Layne?)- and he utilizes that track throughout the rest of the video. Acapella run through a DJ's soundboard- it's such an amazing video/track, and a lot of people miss it because it's on Kurt's channel. Glad you were able to see it!
This was the second time I had heard Eli rap, the first in their cover of My Shot from Hamilton. You might want to check that one out as well. Kurt also collaborated with them a second time, doing Waving Through a Window from Dear Evan Hansen and that one features Eli quite a bit. You remarked on Earl’s high voice. Back when they were younger, it was Geoff, Layne, Earl and Mykal (Michael) Kilgore. Back in those days, Earl was tenor two because Michael could go higher. When I heard that somebody could actually go higher than Earl I was pretty astonished. A few years after they graduated high school, Mykal took off to Broadway where he had a successful career including a Grammy nomination. About the time Michael left is when Scott Porter left as well pursuing an acting career. When it was just the four of them were called 4theLove. When Scott joined them as beatboxer they switched to 4:2:Five. Later they rebranded themselves as VoicePlay around the time that Eli and Tony Wakim joined. For years, Hoist the Colours was my favorite thing they did. Earlier this year they released The Way You Make Me Feel and it was my new fave. But recently they released a stunning version of Stand by Me with Mykal end it is sitting firmly in my number one slot. They filmed it in the vertical orientation in the ball like they do a lot of their shorts. They wanted Mykal to get the full experience of filming in the mall😊. I highly recommend it. It is beautiful. They sort of returned to the roots as when they were young they used to hang around on street corners and in front of pizza parlors singing and this was one the songs they sang.
@@janetdw as Jimmy said. WOW. Awesome info. I’m going to check out the other Eli rap. And I have seen the others you mention. Don’t worry. They are on my list for Jimmy. Stand by me was wonderful. I’ll get to them all. December, I am switching it up a bit. More of a heart felt Xmas themed month. But I think everyone will like it. A little inside info from me since you were nice enough to spend time typing this. ❤️
I've actually been a fan of Kurt since WAY before I found VoicePlay - he's one of my absolute favorite creative minds on the planet! I'm so glad they all got to work together on this!
Thanks for your reaction to VoicePlay! They always make me smile happily but can never predict what they are going to do. I agree with the others, hoping to see your reaction to their "Stand By Me" with Mykal (Michael) Kilgore soon. Be sure to keep an eye out for VoicePlay and Geoff's solo Christmas releases in early December. No idea yet what they are covering, but it's sure to be delightful.
VoicePlay collaborates with so many amazing musicians! I can't help hoping that they keep their current lineup forever, with no new permanent members. If they have five permanent members, will they stop bringing in J None and Omar and Rachel and Anthony and Ashley and José and E.J. and Deejay and Mykal and so many other fabulous "featuring" artists?
@@jimmysmusicreactions7030 That's what I think, too. I know that many fans are hoping for J None to return when his Navy commitment has been fulfilled, and J None is a particular favorite of mine but . . . I don't wnat to give up the guest star list! On the other hand, having 5 permanent members would facilitate the possibility of touring.
@@janeramirez8767 I agree that I am really enjoying their featured artists and was worried about not seeing them anymore if they have a permanent fifth member. Voice Play has always had featured guests that are like extended family and I don't see them ever stopping that and it is not mandatory for an acapella group to have only 5 members). Also, Voice Play does not want to do much touring anymore- they prefer to stay close to home and family.

Thank you SO MUCH for being here with us! ❤️🔥🎉
Agree. “Stand By Me” is absolutely stunning. I can’t believe how underreacted it is.

Voiceplay is not scared to collaborate with all kinds of artists and genres!! Thank you Steven 😉. 🌹🕊
This video introduced me to Twenty One Pilots. Never even heard of them before I watched this.

Not exactly my kind of music but they are good. I liked it.
Kurt wanted VoicePlay voices for this one which is his music. It is so different from VoicePlay's "regular" music but it is so entertaining.
