Trivia/history. Ticonderoga pencils are named that because they were originally made in Ticonderoga NY. The graphite in them at the time was mined a few miles away in Graphite. The graphite was so pure they didn't have to do processing to remove any impurities. Ticonderoga is also an important part of the Seven Year War and the American Revolution.
