@@noblesseraizel3741 yes trade deadline after like week 8 halfway through the year so you basically get locked into what you have then when free agency opens up in March (1 month after SB) everything opens back up
Ricky Williams trade might edge that out. Especially since he only played 2 seasons with Ditkas Saints. He traded the entire team along with the washing equipment.
The worst trade that comes to mind is the Vikings trading loads and loads of assets to the Cowboys for star running back Herschel Walker. Walker ended up having only a few middling seasons for Minnesota while Dallas was able to leverage those picks to create one of the best dynasties in NFL history.
Right up there with that one has to be Mike Ditka trading every single one of his draft picks in 1999 plus more in 2000 for RB Ricky Williams, who ended up leaving in about 3 years for Miami anyways. The Saints would go on to be thoroughly mediocre at best for almost a decade after, in large part because of all the talent they passed on for Williams.
Nah, Saints trading their 1999 1st, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 2000 1st, 3rd to Washington to get the 5th overall selection netting Ricky Williams. The most atrocious thing about this trade was the ESPN magazine cover showing Ricky Williams in a Wedding Dress and Mike Ditka in a Tux standing behind him lol
Let's not forget Robert Griffin III. Washington traded 3, yes 3 first round picks to get him, plus one second round pick. Griffin had a superb rookie season, but suffered a horrible injury in the playoffs, made much worse by coach Mike Shanahan's terrible decision to keep him in the game for a long time after he received it. Griffin played just two more lackluster seasons in Washington and spent the rest of his career as backup before retiring in less than a decade.
Usually when you see a player in the phone when he's drafted, he's talking directly to the team that drafted him, they're usually saying something like 'we're happy to have you, hope you're ready to work, we can't wait to have you', that type of stuff
I'd suggest you watch one of Tree's videos where he revisits a draft years later. You can see what teams were thinking at the time and how those picks actually turned out. Some are franchise changing. Either your pick becomes a superstar, or management gets replaced for getting it wrong. A revisit of the 2017 draft for example might be a fun video to watch.
widely regarded the worst trade ever is between the Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings for running back Herschal Walker in 1989. the trade ended up to bad, the picks Dallas accrued in the trade essentially paved the way for their dynasty in the 90s.
The trade deadline is week 7 of the season, and trades happen fairly regularly leading up to it. Most the trades happen on draft day depending on who is left on the board.
To answer your early question about how teams trade, they are basically dealing nonstop, all year-round. Every year, there's an offseason where trades aren't 'official', but they can still come to terms to agree on before the league year officially begins (which was March 15th this year)
YESSS UrinatingTree is the best nfl RUclipsr to watch once the season starts. He does “This Week In Sportsball” a weekly humorous review of each game. Definitely recommend it when the season starts
The Chiefs got to host the draft this year, so they had the rare opportunity to take another victory lap for winning the Super Bowl on national television in front of the country. The man who announced their 1st Round Pick is the Chiefs owner Clark Hunt. His father Lamar Hunt was the original owner of the Chiefs and is the man responsible for creating the name “Super Bowl” to refer to the AFC-NFC Championship Game.
I’m so glad y’all are watching urinatingtree videos. He’s a yinzer (person from Pittsburgh) and, like me, a steeler fan. Makes hilarious videos, my worlds are colliding
I have watched a bunch of your reactions so far, so obviously I'm entertained, so thank you. You guys understandably have a lot of questions about American football. It's probably already been said, but the real key to the sport is the line of scrimmage. Yes the QB and other skill positions get all the love. But the game is played and won in the trenches. Every game is a good example, but the first Giants vs. Patriots superbowl might be one of the best examples.
And by the line of scrimmage, I mean the offensive and defensive linemen mostly. Of course, tight ends backs and even wide receivers can play blocking roles, but the core of the line of scrimmage is like I said before. O and D linemen. Their performance generally determines the ability for the skill players to have the freedom to do their thing.
Thank you for the game suggestion and comment Zachery, really appreciate this, will check it’s on the watch list, thanks for the comment. We run regular polls on our Discord for all members to have a say in what videos we do next if you’re not already on there 🙏
Great reaction. For folks to understand how good or bad a team does in a given draft, there needs to be a follow up in two or three years or more after those players were selected. These days we get "instant" draft grades from people who have no idea if the players contribute to their respective organizations in a meaningful way. Some Hall of fame players took a few years to develop. Some players that do not get drafted, actually become Hall of Famers. As far as trading in the draft, there is an NFL draft trade chart that outlines what picks are worth given the round and number selected. For example, a round 1 first pick is worth 3000 points, while a round 2 first pick (Pick 33 in all) is around 580 points. There seems to be a pattern of trading draft picks for draft picks that equal to about the same point value of the pick. If a team traded the 1st round, 7th pick (1500 points), they would generally get that in return. I have yet to figure out how much teams gets in draft compensation if a player from their roster is included in that deal. I guess that would be subjective.
Calijah Kancey is one of the most NFL ready players from the neck up in the 1st round. He's the definition of a Football Scholar. Can't wait to see what he does at Tampa Bay
Damo, I KNEW one of youz would have room for DEEETROIT! Sad-sack team on the rise, so good on you for getting on the train early and hopefully enjoying more ups than downs then long-sufferers! 👌🤘🦁
@@goldenageofdinosaurs7192 , You Tha Man! Detroit needs folks like you with positive vibes to get them outta their decades-long-intergalactic-omni-funk! 🤘✌️
"Nobody says stone anymore" Yeah that's ok. It's nice to learn from you as well as see you learn. For me (American) it was 20 years ago when I first heard "stone" and had no idea what that meant lol. I was trying to convert it to either kg or pounds and was failing at the time haha. Also, pitch/field/field/pitch, it's fine lol
Haha, yeah, the only time I ever heard stone being used was when I would see the World's Strongest Man competitions on ESPN. I'll always remember a stone is about 14 lbs.
I can’t even hate chiefs and bills I’m glad you picked two teams with two amazing young QBs and you can appreciate competitive football in the coming years no matter what EDIT: LMFAO okay u got the underachieving NFC teams too the experience is authentic now
You said something about them being on the phone when they got drafted. They're getting the call from the team's general manager telling them they're about to draft them
Trades can basically* happen whenever. There is a period of time towards the last few weeks of the season through the playoffs where trades are barred (see trade deadline) but outside of that trading is basically allowed for 10/12 months of the year.
95% of the time they don’t look happy is because the camera is delayed, so their pick wasn’t announced yet. You should watch the 2022 rose bowl between Ohio State and Utah. The guy the Seahawks drafted broke the receiving record for the game and the #2 overall pick broke the passing record and the game went down to wire.
Trades can practically happen at any time in the year with 1 exception. During the season sometime around the first week of November is the trade deadline. After this day through the End of the Super Bowl no players may be traded. Picks may be swapped at any time, but generally only happen during the draft. Outside of that stipulation trades can happen at any time. Player trades are typically a player for X amount of draft picks. Player for player trades do happen but are rare. Draft pick swaps are very common, but generally only happen during the draft. When teams swap picks it's almost always because there is a particular player available to be drafted that the team really wants. Trading picks for somebody's 3rd round pick before the draft isn't something you'll generally see since teams won't know if a player they want will be available.
I'm not sure which week it is now with then adding the extra game to the season but there is a trade deadline. Typically most trades happen on draft night, but always keep your eye out til the deadline.b it used to be like week 6 or 8 or something I don't remember somewhere in there though probably is when it is
The Lions got awarded the kickoff game against the Chiefs this year. Every year since I believe 2002, the league starts off the NFL season with a single nationally-televised Thursday night game before the full slate of week one games the following Sunday. The home team is always the previous year’s Super Bowl winner, and they do a ceremony before the game where all the players get their Super Bowl rings, and they raise the championship banner to the rafters. And since it’s the first game of the season, the league tries to pick a team that they think will give the champs a good entertaining game to kick off the season. While the Lions started last season 1-6, they drastically turned things around and went 8-2 in their last 10 games, and just barely missed the playoffs. And even though they got eliminated from playoff contention literally about a half an hour before their final game at Green Bay, they still went out and beat the Packers on national TV to keep them out of the playoffs as well, and also ended Aaron Rodgers’ Green Bay career by intercepting his last pass as a Packer. Also, this is the first time ever that a team who didn’t make the playoffs the previous year got selected for the kickoff game. Basically, the Lions are the hot new team to root for coming into the season. I know I’ve commented this before, but if this is going to be your first official season properly following the NFL, you have to pick a team - it’s just more fun if you have a rooting interest. And you could do a lot worse than being Lions fans right now. You’re going to want to be on that bandwagon when they finally win their first Super Bowl! Also, I’m loving the content - it’s always fun to get an outsider’s perspective on things. Definitely had to subscribe. Keep up the good work fellas!
Thanks Benjamin, great read of the comment and love the stats and support! Ironically I’m following a team from either division and they happen to be Chiefs and Lions 😂 Chiefs because my love of Mahomes, even during my first ever game, the Super Bowl, I was drawn to Mahomes. And Lions because I have a soft spot for Detroit. They’ve had some bad luck in a lot of our watches on this channel and it’s endeared me to them
@@DNReacts See, that’s what I’m talking about! Everyone loves an underdog story. Look at all the best Hollywood sports movies - what’s the connective fiber that makes them all the same? Underdog stories! There would be no sports cinema without an underdog. And in America, the Lions are the ultimate underdogs. Also y’all have definitely done well in your studies, because you are correct: Patrick Mahomes is an absolute badass. Y’all get a lot right for not being from here. God I’m going to be so embarrassed if they go 5-12 or something. Although history would say that’s much more likely. But that’s all a part of being a fan of the Detroit Lions. The disappointment. Surely there’s an equivalent team in European Football. If you don’t like disappointment, then going with the Chiefs is probably a better lane to go down.
I know one worst is Mike Ditka(coach of the New Orleans saints at the time) sent their 1st,3rd,4th,5th,6th,7th round 1999 drafts picks, and 1st,3rd Round 2000 draft picks for the 5th overall pick in the 1999 draft(held by Washington Re... Commanders.) for RB Ricky Williams, who played 10 years with 5 different franchises in the NFL and CFL.
To answer a question - there's a trade deadline during the regular season after which no trades are allowed (in most American professional sports), but before then, and at any point during the offseason, trades for players, draft picks or both are allowed.
There is a trade deadline during the season. And when the football year ends free agency opens again. The trades for Ricky Williams, they gave up the whole draft for 1 guy…..coach got fired after that season lol
Trades can start one the 2023 NFL year starts and all 2022 contracts expire(March 15) Picks can be traded up to the the moment of the pick. Future picks are also on the table, as are position players and any and all can be traded(the receiving teams inheirit the contracts the palyer is currently under) up to the trade deadline during week 10 of the NFL Season(November)
There is a "Trade Deadline" during the season, where after that date, no trades are allowed to take place so, usually it's around the midpoint of the regular season. But yeah, when you can make trades, you can always trade or attain draft picks in exchange for players and sometimes even things other than players are traded. Coaches have been traded, cash considerations could sorta be considered at times (NFL has a salary so that's not as common, but it is in other pro sports). One time, two owners actually traded their franchises with each other. That was weird. But essentially a draft pick is essentially the equivalent of a player, so essentially, when the Texans traded four draft picks to move up to get that linebacker, they traded four players to get him, and one more player they drafted later.
Loved the Lions draft. As the video said, “they could’ve drafted Gibbs at 18”, news came out after that he would NOT have been there at 18 for our second pick
The commanders pick has relevance, Washington HOF CB Darrell Green #28 was undersized as well & was the fastest player on the team his entire ~20 year career
Getting into the NFL as a someone outside our hemisphere must be hard. Games are early early in the morning, and the early games are at like 3am I think. A but like trying to watch the British Grand Pris in America, starts at 7am ends before 9am
So the most likely trade situations will be if someone wants a high pick and will offer a ton to get it usually ahead of time we’ll before the draft. The other most common is during the draft. Teams will have who they want at that pick. They will also get offers from someone who wants that pick. If the guy you want goes and you can trade down and get another pick later while the second team can move up and get who they wanted a bit lower, then it’s a win win. Besides that you may get a throw in pick with a player trade or something like that. But 90% of trades are during the draft. Often while a team is on the clock. You’ll see them announce a trade and then the pick right after
Hello boys. Parts of the beauty of this video is just to witness the spectacle the draft has become. I remember the days when you would read about the draft in the newspaper on the Sunday after the draft. Nowadays there are draft parties all over the country where fans get together by the tens of thousands to cheer and wait for their team to make its selection. Every tavern and bar here in Seattle will be standing room only whilst broadcasting the draft on half on every TV in the building. Its a real party atmosphere. Food, drinks and fans in jersey's with high hopes for successful draft and an improved team. And if you are very lucky, a trip to the playoffs. Another great video. 🌟🌟🌟🌟
To add to your question at 7:20, a lot of draft day trades happen when teams are trying to move up spots and grab a player they really want. So many of the trades listed happened day of the draft.
After week 8 of the "actual" NFL season(meaning games played, not including Preseason) is the trade dead-line. So no trades after week 8. Up till then from the "Start" of the Off-season until Week 8 of the regular season Trades are permitted. (Edit) I should say. After week 8 no trades are allowed until the end of the season(after the SB).
There is a trade deadline, November 1st which is week 9 (of 18). No trades until the offseason window opens week 15. And you can trade future draft picks 3 years into the future. So, if you want to trade a pick at the week 9 deadline to add some talent to make a run, similar to in FIFA getting a player on loan, to a team that is in a "rebuild" and has no chance of winning and would rather have the extra draft picks. The problem is, you don't know where they'll finish, so you don't know what pick that will end up being. For example: In 2021 the Lions traded Matthew Stafford to the Rams for Jared Goff, 2021 3rd round pick, 2022 1st rd, 2023 1st round. The trade was made before the 2021 draft, so the Lions already knew the 2021 3rd round pick was pick 101 bc the 2020 season was over. The 2022 and 2023 1st round picks were unknown future picks. The Rams won the superbowl in 2021, so the 2021 1st rounder ended up being pick 32 (the lions would trade this pick to move up to pick 12 for Jameson Williams). In 2022, Stafford got injured and the Rams were awful, the Lions ended up with pick 6 (which, as you saw, they traded to move back to pick 12, took Jahmyr Gibbs and received pick 34 as well). So, yes. Lots of movement. Trading future picks. You can actually make it a conditional pick, which is like we'll give you a 4th rounder, but if he plays 75% of the plays, we'll give you a 3rd rounder. It can get wild. Especially on draft day. The GMs have been in contact for months talking about potential trades tho, so, all the scenarios are already worked out going into the day.
@7:20 week 8 of the regular season is the trade deadline. Between then and the start of the next league year you can't trade. So the second half of the season and playoffs you can't trade then a little bit after the Superbowl. So it happens most of the year, there are a ton of trades during the draft, there will also be a bunch right before the trade deadline for teams who's season is all but over trying to get big payouts from teams in contention.
Trades can happen til around Week 8 or 9 of the regular season. That's when the trade dealine is. Around the offseason you can trade. Usually trades will involve players. The only time when teams exclusively trade draft picks is on draft day itself, where a ton of trades happen.
It can help to think of both players and future draft picks as 'assets' that each team has as they each have some value. They can mix and match whichever type of asset they want when proposing/accepting trade offers. Not in the NFL, but in some other sports you can also use cash when trading -- which I think makes sense since it is clearly an asset with value.
Trades can only start at the start of the nfl draft till week 8 of the following season, no limits to any trade besides salary cap, to stop teams from stacking on one team, and yes you can also trade a pick then trade that pick just right after, can also trade players and picks if both teams consent, teams can also include a physical before the trade actually goes through so if a player doesn’t pass the physical the trade gets vetoed but you can sign any player that’s not signed with a team at any point of the season except the playoffs
Some clarifications: Firstly with the RBs. Gibbs and especially Bijan are both phenomenal players, RB is just not a valued position now because there a lot of talented backs and people have had success getting guys in late rounds. The contracts for RBs are also lower, so you aren't saving much money draft a Rookie RB compared to even an expensive veteran. Meanwhile the right O-Line and playcalling can make almost any decent back really good, and bad line/coaching make a great back produce nothing. Bijan and Gibbs could both easily be top 12 college talent, but thats not how Draft value works. As far as the trades, if theyre saying they get a first or a third that means first round or third round. They'll see "#1 overall pick" or "#3 overall" if they're talking about the literally first pick of the Draft and so on. You can technically trade picks pretty much year round, but the Draft order is determined by record from the previous season. The worst team picks #1, SB Champ picks last every round (#32). So it's kind of worthless to swap first round picks for example when you don't know what position 1-32 that will land. The only time you really see picks traded during the year is for players already in the NFL, but say the team gets a future first rounder for a current star player, they don't know exactly where in the first round that pick will land until the season is concluded. So moving up in the Draft only happens from after the season up until the Draft, and most of it is concentrated to the 1-2 weeks before the Draft and Draft Night itself.
I think there's restrictions on trading in the latter part of the regular season, but anytime you can trade at all, you can also trade draft picks. They often get added to deals involving active players, too.
Most recent questionable trade was san Francisco 49ers traded there first round pick of 2021, 12th overall, first and third round picks of 2022, and first round pick of 2023. For the 3rd overall pick in 2021, in which they drafted qb trey lance. So 3 first round picks and a third round pick for one first round pick. Being that niners are so good that both the delayed first round picks both fell to the 29th spot. So its really pick 3 overall for a 12 that year, a 29th each of the next two years and the 3rd rounder was somewhere in the 70s
Trades for draft picks can happen all year round. Except from week 9 (not sure what the new trade deadline is with the 17 game season) til the Superbowl. Also the teams call the players to make sure they still alive. In the 70's a team drafted a player that had died.
Trades are not as common as you guys think. Yes there different trade windows throughout the year with different rules. Draft picks only get traded on draft day generally and they can trade future draft picks so it can seem like a lot but its from previous years trades. You would be surprised but it's a lot less common to trade in the NFL than in MLB.
The players are not sad during the draft. They are so emotionally drained with joy, that they are almost in tears. ...By the way, a lot of people think the 1989 Hershel Walker trade was the worst. Hershel Walker was arguably the "best college running back ever" and was also an underappreciated professional player. A reaction to his life should be considered.
Worth mentioning that every player gets a call from the team that's going to draft them right before the draft selection is aired. May explain the range of emotions. Nor everyone can cry twice.
7:10 - Trades of any kind (player for player, player for draft picks, draft picks for draft picks) are allowed from the start of the league year (usually the beginning of March ) until the trade deadline which is usually the end of October or beginning of November. They can negotiate year-round and come to terms any time but it can't be made official until that period. Pure draft pick swaps could also happen as stated above but are usually reserved for draft day or in the days before. 7:53 - The Cowboys sending Herschel Walker to the Vikings for an absolute butt ton of draft picks in 1989 is widely regarded as the worst NFL trade ever. Walker only declined from that point and Dallas proceeded to use most of the picks they got to draft key pieces to a team that went on to win 3 Super Bowls in 4 years in the 90's. The second worst might be the time the Saints traded up in the draft from 12th to 5th to draft Ricky Williams who had good moments but would never live up to the hype or the cost. Funnily enough, U-Tree made videos about both before this year's draft..ruclips.net/video/H13FlFvDXN0/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/hT9ZqpkKxZk/видео.html 26:23 - Tree actually does a series of draft reaction videos before each draft of the draft 5 years prior to see how the picks of that draft truly panned out. Here's his most recent one on the 2018 Draft. ruclips.net/video/_mPM7iGxfxE/видео.html 26:45 - This was the first time in my memory that pretty much every team's fans could be satisfied with their draft. It could be said that the Dolphins had the worst draft because they lost their 1st Round pick due to violations of league rules and had traded away a bunch of other picks for Tyreek Hill and ended up with picks in only rounds 2, 3, 6, and 7. The Broncos had also traded a bunch of picks for Russell Wilson and only had 5 total.
Dalton Kincaid (6’ 4” 240) is being likened to a huge version of the Bills’ former slot receiver Cole Beasley (5’ 8” 174), so people are calling him Swole Beasley.
I really love your videos! My mom was born in Sussex and became a die hard Bills/NFL fan after meeting my dad while he was stationed in Europe, so this is really cool to see how it was for her to learn. Also sorry if this is a long one haha. So, The Chiefs are for sure a safe bet, and the Bills are a solid pick as well. The Bills have a really bad history with the super bowl though. They went to 4 straight Super Bowls in the 90s and lost them all and then went another 16 years without even making the playoffs. Ever since they signed Allen, these last few years have been the best chance they have had since 1994 to go back to the Super Bowl. Personally you are doing yourselves a dis-service by not at least keeping an eye on the Steelers (the team that had the safety Polamalu you watched). Everyone always counts us out and we always surprise them! We easily have the best team in the AFC North this year, even though everyone else will say the Bengals are the best. The Bengals are frauds, and had no business being in the AFC championship last season, that should've been the Bills vs Chiefs. The Lions completely changed their identity last season and really should have had more wins, and made the playoffs. They are for sure a team to look out for this season in the NFC. As for the Panthers, they have the best shot to win their division, but probably won't make it past round 1. Their division is really weak this season especially without Brady in Tampa, and even they were pretty bad last year. The AFC North and East have the most competitive divisions in the league at the moment so it can really be any team from there... except the Browns lol.
I didn't pay that close of attention this year, but I'll say this as a fan for 30 years. The draft is usually won finding diamonds in the rough rounds 2 through 6, or sometimes you get an insane scenario where the best to ever do it at his position drops to the end of the first like Moss at 21
The draft trades can happen prior to draft however that’s very rare. Only if you trading for first pick (for example ka there did it). That’s because you don’t know the circumstances throughout the draft you don’t want to trade for no reason ahead of time if that scenario never takes place. You may want to wait as the draft is happening and trade during the draft.
I’m glad you answered this regarding the draft pick trades. I really think that was the question being asked but everyone else is answering regarding player trades during the season.
7:10-8:00 To answer your question on trades, in club football terms, the NFL has basically one long transfer window instead of 2 shorter transfer windows. Unlike club football transfer windows which are limited to a 3 month pre-season window and a 1 month mid-season window, NFL teams can trade players + draft picks with each other at any time from when the new NFL league year starts until the trade deadline around midseason. In 2022, for example, NFL teams could trade with each other from the 16th of March to the 1st of November, meaning teams could trade with each other for roughly 7 months straight. As for worst trades, one of the worst is the Herschel Walker trade. Tree actually did a video on that exact trade. I highly recommend it. (Also note: I'm an American who just started watching Premier League this year and I'm still learning about club football and the rules about transfer windows. Hopefully what I said about the transfer windows above is accurate. If I'm wrong anywhere, please let me know. I'd love to learn more.)
I've been really enjoying your NHL reactions. You asked about bench clearing brawls. And boy do I have one for you. The 1997 brawl between the Colorado avalanche and the Detroit Red wings. There's another interesting video that gives the history of their rivalry. Which is another interesting series of videos you guys could do rivalry videos lol. Also if you're looking for player highlights to watch I can suggest. Nathan McKinnon. And Sydney Crosby. And Conor McDavid
The lions draft is hard to define in traditional ways. At the end of the day they got good players that'll make an impact right away. Instead of going after the best player available or trying to fill needs, Lions GM Brad Holmes opted to get players he liked, that fit the culture, and had good tape regardless of positional value. You should really check out HBO's Hard Knocks from last season, the culture in the Lion's den is unlike anything i've seen in pro sports
there is a window for trades and signing free agents.. i think it is open from the superbowl until about mid-season.. it is called the trade deadline, trades r not allowed from the deadline “usually late Oct” until sometime in Jan… as for the worst trade in nfl history, that honor has to go to the minnesota vikings, they got RB Herschel Walker and 4 late round draft spots, rounds 8-10-11-12 and Dallas got from Minnesota 3 draft spots in rounds 1-2-4 and 4 scrub players… but drafted RB Emmitt Smith with the 1st rd pick from minn, emmitt became the leading rusher in nfl history and still is today .. plus more to it.. it was a VERY Dallas friendly lopsided trade
I think the worst trade in NFL draft history is the Saints trading their whole draft to move up a few spots in the first round to take Ricky Williams. I am a saints fan. Williams wasn’t bad for us but totally not worth it.
Regarding trades, you are allowed to trade all year round, except for past the "trade deadline". Generally its a couple weeks before the playoffs start, and you have to have a set roster as a team.
It is difficult to value a "draft trade" until you know where a team will finish at the end of the regular season. One can trade all year but you would definitely be rolling the dice and could spend the regular season watching the value of that trade diminish as the season progresses or watch the value of the pick you traded away increase if you have a poor record due to numerous injuries to key players.
Love the video, and your picks. I am a die hard Rams fan but I am also a true fan of the game and the league itself. So I can honestly say I expect an average year at best, 8-9 record and no playoffs is my prediction, but I do think our offense will be great again, however I also believe our defense will be lower tier (around 24th overall defense I predict). Again, I love the game of American football itself, and any video you guys post I can't wait for!
Thanks Bradley, as always appreciate the support 🙏 Ahh plus a Rams fan, good luck for the season! Sounds like you’re expecting some crazy exciting scores
2 worst trades, the Herschel Walker trade (A good but peaked Running Back that was traded for a boatload of picks the ended up becoming the core of the 1990's Dallas Super Bowl teams). The other that comes to mind is the Ricky Williams deal. The New Orleans Saints traded their entire draft to get one guy, he was good, but had an odd and unusual career.
Draft picks are kind of like currency. Typically they're traded during or leading up to the draft. During the season they're usually only traded in tandem with a player to sweeten the deal in getting another player. There is a trade deadline during the season, all American pro sports have this.
There is a trading date, a team can not trade all year round. A team can hire players who are not working in the NFL, Kurt Warner was stocking grocery store selves and was picked up by the Rams because of injuries of their QBs and Warner took them to a Superbowl win.
Also, quick note, Bill Belichick, the coach of the New England Patriots who was once hired as coach of the NY Jets for less than 24 hours, and who wrote and delivered his resignation from a cocktail napkin, traded the New England pick down, just because the player the Jets wanted would be drafted by the team New England traded with. No advantage for New England, Belichick just made the trade so that the Jets would not get the player they were targeting.
Analytics-minded folks generally suggest trading back in the draft....unless you're trading up high in the draft to select a quarterback. Obviously, you don't want to trade back so many times that you end up with like 30 picks, because you won't be able to fit all those guys on your roster. But trading back a handful of times can be shrewd.
A lot of people say that the Dallas/Vikings trade for Hershel Walker was the worst trade...but others will say that the trade the Saints made for Ricky Williams.
The saints once traded all of their picks for one player. They then went 3-13 and their coach got fired and the player, Ricky Williams, was off the team like 4 years later.
Vikings fan here. Worst draft trade ever is when we traded LOADS of picks to Dallas for Hershel Walker. He ended up being bad, and the Cowboys got some really good assets with those picks
I see everyone mentioning the Walker trade between the Vikings and Cowboys, so I'll mention perhaps the second worst trade in which the Saints traded every single pick they had in that draft, and two more high picks the next year to move up from #12 to #5 to select Ricky Williams. Williams only played three middling season for the Saints. He did eventually turn into a really good running back for the Dolphins, but his career was plagued by suspensions because he wouldn't stop smoking that ganja. He even retired from football prematurely so he could continue to smoke. He came back a year later, but was still smoking. Anyway, he could have been one of the all time greats, but the off the field problems did seem to stunt his growth as a player quite a bit.
I going to say as a Packer fan this was a great draft. got WR help in round 2 and got help at TE also....Van Ness is going to be fine in a couple years. Honestly not upset at all.
The Lions played Chess in this draft while everyone else played checkers lol. I think the Lions & Rams had the best draft and they’re underrated for how well they were. Eagles did a great job too.
They know they're getting picked before it happens that might be some of the reason behind the lack of excitement if they had no idea they were getting picked it might be different but they usually get a phone call by the team picking them before it happens.
I think to the reactions/being on the phone: when players get drafted, the General Manager will call them to let them know theyre being drafted right before its announced on TV. Sometimes the calls get caught on cam Oftentimes the still faced players are just overwhelmed with emotion and trying to hold a brave face 🤣

There is a trade window I think week 8 or 9 after that you can't trade anymore
Worst trade ever? The Ricky Williams trade. Hands down! Great vid guys.
@@noblesseraizel3741 yes trade deadline after like week 8 halfway through the year so you basically get locked into what you have then when free agency opens up in March (1 month after SB) everything opens back up
The Herschel Walker trade is the worst trade in NFL history.
That’s the first one that came to mind as well..
Ricky Williams for a whole draft class is also a hilarious one
Life long Vikings fan here, can 100 percent confirm.
Ricky Williams trade might edge that out. Especially since he only played 2 seasons with Ditkas Saints. He traded the entire team along with the washing equipment.
Trae lance
The worst trade that comes to mind is the Vikings trading loads and loads of assets to the Cowboys for star running back Herschel Walker. Walker ended up having only a few middling seasons for Minnesota while Dallas was able to leverage those picks to create one of the best dynasties in NFL history.
Funnily enough, one of UTree's most recent videos is about "The Trade". An excellent watch
Hopkins for David Johnson and a 2nd was pretty bad too
Usually when you see a player in the phone when he's drafted, he's talking directly to the team that drafted him, they're usually saying something like 'we're happy to have you, hope you're ready to work, we can't wait to have you', that type of stuff
The picks they gave up made it bad not what cowboys selected with it
The trade deadline is week 7 of the season, and trades happen fairly regularly leading up to it. Most the trades happen on draft day depending on who is left on the board.
Usually the only major predraft trades are QB needy teams moving up to the top spot

Hey Brandi, hope you’ve been keeping well. Thank you, this comment is great, makes it really clear on how the system works, appreciate it 🙏

Haha, yeah, the only time I ever heard stone being used was when I would see the World's Strongest Man competitions on ESPN. I'll always remember a stone is about 14 lbs.

Trades can basically* happen whenever. There is a period of time towards the last few weeks of the season through the playoffs where trades are barred (see trade deadline) but outside of that trading is basically allowed for 10/12 months of the year.
Love the reactions. Hope to see you guys doing this for the 2024 draft this Thursday!
Yeah!!!! Let’s go Damo! 🦁

There is a trade deadline… and yes, you need to look at the Georgia Bulldogs, national champions two year running.
Shout out to the dude in the black hoodie for having my Panthers as his second team. Salute from Charlotte 🫡
Love this!
The commanders pick has relevance, Washington HOF CB Darrell Green #28 was undersized as well & was the fastest player on the team his entire ~20 year career
also because they have 2 quality corners like kendall fuller and benjamin st juste
Getting into the NFL as a someone outside our hemisphere must be hard. Games are early early in the morning, and the early games are at like 3am I think. A but like trying to watch the British Grand Pris in America, starts at 7am ends before 9am
but they're in the same hemisphere as the US 🤦♂
So the most likely trade situations will be if someone wants a high pick and will offer a ton to get it usually ahead of time we’ll before the draft.
You’ll see them announce a trade and then the pick right after
12:14 that's usually the front office calling their draft pick to let him know he's being picked and whatnot.
For example:
In 2021 the Lions traded Matthew Stafford to the Rams for Jared Goff, 2021 3rd round pick, 2022 1st rd, 2023 1st round.
Thank you for the context! Appreciate it
Trades can happen til around Week 8 or 9 of the regular season.
Not in the NFL, but in some other sports you can also use cash when trading -- which I think makes sense since it is clearly an asset with value.
it was fun to watch the draft again with you guys
Love me some U-Tree
Also you can trade for players and picks up until the middle of the season, and during the offseason.
Thanks for the info, appreciate it 🤝
You can trade whenever you want, but the exact order is not known until the end of the season (worst go first,...) so it happens at the end.
Some clarifications:
Firstly with the RBs.
Damo! Welcome even if only partially!! Whenever it gets sorted out in Detroit and on the right track, always welcome to root with us 🤝
There's a trade deadline part of the way into the season where you can't trade anymore until a certain point in the off-season
Trading is unlimited until the deadline during the regular season. Then trading opens again when the next season starts.
There is a trade deadline after week 8 of the regular season. Trades open back up a few weeks after the Super Bowl.
Trades can happen up until the 8th week of the season. Once the season ends, it starts again.
Funnily enough, U-Tree made videos about both before this year's draft..ruclips.net/video/H13FlFvDXN0/видео.html and ruclips.net/video/hT9ZqpkKxZk/видео.html
26:23 - Tree actually does a series of draft reaction videos before each draft of the draft 5 years prior to see how the picks of that draft truly panned out. Here's his most recent one on the 2018 Draft. ruclips.net/video/_mPM7iGxfxE/видео.html
26:45 - This was the first time in my memory that pretty much every team's fans could be satisfied with their draft.

I’m not sure if someone else commented this but you can do trades from the start of the league year until week 8 of the regular season.
Felt like I just said congrats on 16k less than a week ago. Well congrats on 17k boys. Well done
That did seem to go fairly quickly. Thanks Mike! 🥳
Thank you, really appreciate it!
MY BOY IS REPPIN DETROIT! Welcome to the Tottenham of nfl :) we look good for the first time in years. Let’s go Dan
The players are being phone called by the owner or coach to confirm the pick. It's a huge moment.
And Conor McDavid
keep in mind that trades are used strategically. lts like poker, you dont show your hand if you trading spots or picks is in mind
You can trade draft picks until week 8 every year then you can start doing it more after the super bowl
Trades mostly happen on draft night. They can happen any time but always happen during the draft.
There is a trade window during the season but during off season and the first half of the season it's fair game.
I think the worst trade in NFL draft history is the Saints trading their whole draft to move up a few spots in the first round to take Ricky Williams. I am a saints fan. Williams wasn’t bad for us but totally not worth it.
There is a trade deadline during the season and once the off season begins after the Superbowl you can make trades agai
The trades happen mainly just before and during the draft .
There is a trade deadline, usually around halfway through the season . No trade can happen from then until the end of the season, i believe.
There is a trade deadline during the regular season, and the worst trade is easily the Herschel Walker trade
Vikings fan here. Worst draft trade ever is when we traded LOADS of picks to Dallas for Hershel Walker. He ended up being bad, and the Cowboys got some really good assets with those picks
Hershel Walker was good.
Pass that meth to someone. You need help.
Sometimes the calls get caught on cam
Oftentimes the still faced players are just overwhelmed with emotion and trying to hold a brave face 🤣
