Once you’ve finished all the Top 10 worst of each type, you should do a top 18 of all the #1 worst Pokémon to see who the worst Pokémon competitively is!
Hypno is not that bad in Gen I. Sure, it's not like other Psychics like Alakazam or Jynx but having high Special and Psychic type is always cool, despite having a limited movepool. There are worse things out there, like Golbat or Onix.
Hypno is a BEHEMOTH and honestly isn’t even the worst Psychic type. Being able to combine Gen 1 TWave with Headbutt to get Paraflinch and easy, strong physical damage against enemy Psychic types, while getting Psychic in the 30s by Level Up allows you to practically use it on multiple Pokemon. When I do a gen 1 Nuzlocke, I *always* go for Hypno the moment I can. Mr Mime is objectively a weaker Pokemon, lacking Hypno’s bulk, physical damage and utility for the sake of speed - it’s just made up for by the experience buff of being traded, which you lose if you instill level caps. If you REALLY want to get a ‘psychic type’ on the team... how about one that’s weak to Psychic? Venomoth’s just a user of Psychic and utility moves, but it’s not able to come in on opposing Psychic types. Psychic, Psybeam, Sleep Powder, Stun Spore/Mega Drain. Get a powerful user of Psychic moves... with all the weaknesses of being a bug/poison types (and none of the strengths)
1:08 It's for the people that picked Charmander for when they're going through Mt. Moon. There's is no Mankey in R22, Paras sucks and doesn't know any good grass moves, Metal Claw didn't exist and the Nidorans didn't learn double kick until level 50ish. So dealing with the rock/ground type Pokemon would be a pain. Sure you can evolve into Charmeleon and power through but it's much easier to have a 4x super effective move to use. And it can be learned by at least five pokemon you can catch at the time. Rattata, the Nidoran (evolved if think), Jigglypuff and Clefairy.
The problem with picking hypno is that all psychic types in gen 1 are broken because it's a psychic type. Also Lickitung would have been my option over wigglytuff Edit: Here's my worst team Hitmonchan: So so bad Lickitung: yeah he bad Golbat: he bad too Onix: great Defense terrible everything else Farfetchd: Just a garbage Mon Butterfree: week to rock, electric, fire, no bug moves, this would be your psychic user. Remember no abilities yet
So, I actually tried this today! It took me the afternoon, but I was able to get through the elite four with all level 54s. Things worth mentioning: the worst and most difficult part was easily the early game. I ditched my starter (Bulbasaur) as soon as I caught a Rattata and had to power through Brock. Luckily, it gets hyper fang at level 14, which has a chance to flinch. I had to use two potions during the match and get some clutch flinches/good rng from him, but nothing too hard. Hikers always present some form of obstacle for this reason, at least in the beginning. Another thing that's important is that I opted for having HM users outside of this team (by the way, Raticate can't learn strength in gen 1, that was changed from gen 2 onwards) - Bellsprout for cut and Voltorb for flash. They never participated in a single battle and I chose to do that because there's no move deleter in RBY, so I only wanted to teach HMs when I was ready to commit. I also deviated a little from your sets, giving Hypno seismic toss, strength to Wigglytuff, blizzard to Seaking and super fang to Raticate. Hypno was easily the MVP of the team. Being a psychic type in gen 1 is such a blessing, it presents a solid walling option against special based threats (like Blue's and Sabrina's Alakazams) and the run would have been exponentially harder if it was an Onix or a Golbat instead. Learning psychic through level up is also extremely convenient and well worth delaying the evolution. The fact that Wigglytuff gets boltbeam coverage is also really useful, specifically against Gyarados since it can take a hyper beam and 2HKO with thunderbolt. Ice beam against a barrier-spamming Dragonite was also very welcome. Besides, what the team lacks in offense it kind of compensates for it in utility. Maybe it's just that gen 1 status effects are very overpowered, but spore, hypnosis and stun spore are mighty useful, making switching much safer all around. Gyms get progressively easier due to the fact that you simply have more options to deal with stuff. Also worth mentioning is that it was completely unnecessary to use X items at any time or overlevel mons for any battle. An interesting challenge!
@Mahdi Hasan Not true. You only need Agility. Gen 1 has the Badge Boost Glitch, which means every time a stat is changed on a Pokemon, the badge boosts are applied to your Pokemon again until you either switch out or level up. The badge boosts stack, as well. So every time Farfetch'd clicks Agility, it's getting a 12.5% boost to its Attack on top of that +2 Speed.
Raticate is too good for a worst team: Hyper Fang at Lv 14 / Body Slam at SS. Anne + Dig is too good for a worst pokemon. For the starter, Pidgeot is a better option. Gust is a normal move (so no easy exp from Bug Catchers, Lasses..., can't learn Dig, can't learn Body Slam, can't learn coverage TMs. Hypno... please No. A Psychic with 115 Special in a worst team!!! What are you thinking!!! The worst Psychic in-game is Exeggutor, which is too good for this type of team... If you really want a bad Psychic there's two options: Butterfree and Venomoth. Butterfree is in the same speed tier as Hypno and Venomoth comes late and is weak to Psychic (and even Venomoth is dibious, 90 Speed + Sleep Powder + trainer with status Psychic moves with Good AI....) Wigglytuff is a borderline case. At first glance, it's really bad. Until you remember its INSANE movepool from TMs and that you can evolve very early with the Moon Stone. If you include Wigglytuff, it should have Strength. Farfetch'd noches is the only pokemon that learns Cut+Fly (no... Dragonite can't)
I think Mr Mime is even worse than Hypno, because Hypno has a higher special (115) than Mr Mime (100), I know, Mr Mime is really fast but is fragile because of low HP
I actually really like using Parasect in RBY. I’ve used him on a couple of runs. Mainly as my psychic killer with a combo of Swords Dance and Leech Life.
For farfetch'd i have to mention crits ignore your own boosts in gen 1, so swords dance slash doesn't work, i'd replace agility with hyper beam for that
When you do that playthrough you were talking about you'll sure be shocked when Rattata destroys everything in the early game and continues to wreck shit the rest of them along with Hypno
I really have to disagree bout Hypno. In Gen 1 its pretty tough. It has a base stat total of 410, which is pretty good and at least 5 points higher than Alakazam. Its stats are more balanced than Jynx or Alakazam, but 115 Spez is pretty good and its movepool is great as well. Psychic for stab, bodyslam or tri attack for coverage (73 atk base is solid) T-Wave or Hypnosis for annoying and u still have 1 slot left (submission, rest, sub, reflect, hyperbeam, seismic toss). Its sadly a little bit slow, but imo a great Option for gen 1 playthrough since it evolves very early in lv 26 and is obtainable before Lt. Surge and it performs well against the complete Team rocket, Erika, Koga and even Sabrina, because u can inflict massive damage with Bodyslam or Tri Attack and get the Chance for a status condition, while her psychic moves do pretty less damage. U really should overthink it. I actually try it myself in a playthrough and it performs great.
I see Far-fetched and Hypno doing really well together. Hypno can allow for Far-fetched to do a Swords Dance set up (with badge boosting) and then sweeping most trainers with normal attacks
Anyone putting Hypno in a “WORST TEAM” video for Red & Blue are instantly discredited. I’ll wait for JRose11’s version of this video. Thank you though. I left a like
I have used Raticate and Wigglytuff in playthroughs before. Most mono normal types in gen1 get ridiculous coverage moves that even if they don't have the stats to back it up, they still perform well enough.
I found Raticate to be ok the Rocket Grunt that uses it on Mt Moon was surprisingly tough and Raticate gets STAB Bodyslam before that it gets Hyper Fang which early game is very powerful. At higher levels Raticate gets Super Fang which has some niche uses it always cuts the other guy's HP in half. Raticate also gets (for some reason) Blizzard and Bubblebeam. Beedrill is surprisingly good in play throughs because in gen 1 bug is super effective against poison so Beedrill's twineedle is 4x effective against all the grass poisons and x2 effective against the poisons a common type. Beedrill can also help with Misty's Starmie. Golbat on the other hand really sucks and not just blood. I like its funny sprite but its move pool is awful being good against none of the gym leaders or elite 4 with useless attacks like wing attack leech life and at best bite and confuse ray, poor golbat really got a bat deal. But before you can use Golbat you have to level up Zubat, which is a truly frustrating experience. It is weak to everything has nothing but the horrendously weak leeech life and the only thing it can do that is remotely useful supersonic is like a miss 50% of the time. I dont know if you have ever tried to win a battle with Zubat but you might as well be using a Ditto or a Magikarp it is that bad its base stats are Weedle level bad. Team Rocket Grunts need to ditch the Zubats ASAP. Pidgeot also gets a bad deal it is such a cool Pokemon but it gets no good stab moves to take advantage of its typing even Farfetch'd gets peck poor Pidgeot gets nothing no type coverage no stab and everything it can do fearow can do better or dodrio even better. Fly takes 2 turns to land Pidgeot would be way better if it had drill peck. Hitmonchan this is sad because it should have good type coverage with the elemental punches but sadly they are all doing damage based on its horriblely low Special Stat. It gets no stab and a nerfed counter. Primeape they give it fury swipes and scratch it is just cruel that it cant learn slash or any real stab moves its move pool is horrendous. Fighting types in general suffer from a lack of stab damage dealing moves in gen 1 their best move is submission which does recoil damage and for their best move is not that good fighting types are so weak they can't even reliably beat normal types making Tauros Chansey and Snorlax OP because they are largely unchecked due to how bad fighting types are in this gen. Cross Chop, or Bodyslam being a fighting type move would have helped hilariously Karate Chop is normal something fixed in later gens. Vileplume it spends most of its time as an Oddish with no damage dealing move besides the terribly weak absorb, its only stab move besides the 2 turn solar beam is petal dance is a severely nerfed self-damaging razor leaf (which it does not learn), it gets dual poison tying for a psychic weakness with its poison typing giving it no benefits. Why would you use this when you could have the part psychic grass type Exeggutor or a razor leaf user like Victreebel or Venusaur even Tangela gets Bind you could use Stun Spore and Bind to take advantage of the gen 1 mechanics to cheese with Tangela but Vileplume really gets a bad deal with its signature move being petal dance. There is nothing worse than going into Misty's Gym with your grass type Oddish expecting a win and watching it flail helplessly and lose despite its type advantage. Plus everything in gen 1 is poison so even if it had stab grass moves this still would not be that useful. Parasect has some serious issues it is 4x weak to almost everything gets zero stab very slow and has no type coverage but it does get spore and in gen 1 sleep is pretty OP but it is so slow it is hard to use if you can get a chance to set up it gets swords dance. I didn't include Ditto but if we count Ditto it is probably the worst fully evolved Pokemon for battling. If we count Ditto I would put it in instead of Primeape because Primeape at least gets Rockslide but it still is a bad choice. I also give an honourable mention to Lickitung and Onix these guys are also bad but Onix is fast and gets bind and its ground typing helps against electric type while Lickitung can cheese with wrap but is held back by its poor stats.
Raticate: Super Fang instead of Hyper Fang seems more efficient. Seaking: Horn Drill instead of Peck to abuse that X Accuracy glitch seems obvious. Hypno: I'm pretty sure Hypno can learn Thunderbolt. It wouldn't be better than Thunder Wave for a little more coverage? This way Wigglytuff could learn some other thing.
Super Fang isn't more efficient because the video incorrectly states that Raticate gets Strength (it only does so from gen 2 onwards), so Hyper Fang is still your highest BP stab move. The second one is good but remember that the move still fails if the user is slower than the target, as in gen 1 that's what's checked instead of level; this would require you to use a couple of X speeds as well, or fit Agility in its moveset as well. It's a nice gimmick, though. You may be pretty sure, but you're wrong. Hypno can't learn Thunderbolt or Thunder in gen 1, TM or otherwise.
@@LordJokester very weird this thing about Raticate can't learn Strength. In this case, Super Fang + Hyper Fang. Yeah, about Seaking you're right. Agility plus Horn Drill was what I had in mind. About Hypno, ok then.
Used Parasect on a Grass mono run. It's been rather helpful. Spore something, three Swords Dances and you're all set with Leech Life (which solo'd Giovanni) and Slash (if you're much slower than other Pokémon, crits aren't that common). Blaine kills it but otherwise Parasect is quite decent!
I did a challenge about the worst team on my channel a few months ago. I picked the worst Pokémon according to Pokémon Challenges gen 1 tier list video. Honestly it wasn't that hard, it's Pokémon Red & Blue after all
@@tinysuperaqua it is, but it still is a quadruple because of grass and poison typing in most of the gym. i say this cause he mention that leech life could be used against psychic gym, so i had to mention this too lol
And to think Parasect used to have a 4x weakness to Poison because Bug was weak to Poison in Gen 1. 3 quad weaknesses makes this Pokemon very difficult to use.
5:45 I did not realize that Waterfall was introduced in Gen 1. I had always thought (apparently incorrectly) that it was introduced in Gen 2, when it became an HM.
Hypno on the team seems weird. It may or may not be the worst psychic type but it by no means is a bad pokemon. It's capable of nuking a lot of stuff with it's psychic moves.
Charmander is ass. Only redemption for this thing is learning dig and slash when speed comes into effect in the mid 30's. Otherwise, you need to keep from evolving this thing just to learn flame thrower. It is stuck with ember until level 36. When it normally would evolve into charizard. Freaking disgusting
Aerodactyl was good but not great. Thanks to it's movepool being shallow due to lack of rock moves and reliance on Sky attack and it has fire blast for grass types and ice types
I wouldn't have chosen Hypno I would have choosen Mr. Mime. While Mime does have good defense his offense is very low, think reverse Alakazam. Hypno is more even on stats and yes you could choose one of the other psychic type Pokemon but I say Hypno needs a little more love.
Hello MysticUmbreon, I know you probably don't do this, but I wanted to give it a shot anyway. I wanted to ask you if you can create the best team for the hardest Pokemon game I have ever played.
I always choose pidgey as a first capture and caterpie, sleep powder and stun spore come a loooooong way to help in battle and to capture
I'd actually replace Hyper Fang with Super Fang on Raticate's moveset imho. The ability to halve an opponent's HP instantly is a nice thing to have.
Saying Wigglytuff instead, of "Big ol Fat Boy"
*Z and G Emporium has entered the chat*
Yes finally I’ve been waiting for this
Used Parasect on a Grass mono run. It's been rather helpful. Spore something, three Swords Dances and you're all set with Leech Life (which solo'd Giovanni) and Slash (if you're much slower than other Pokémon, crits aren't that common). Blaine kills it but otherwise Parasect is quite decent!

Cursed Tentacool
Best team for Ttar in every gens please
I’d swap Mr Mime for Hypno for “Worst” Psychic type. Mr. Mime might be “faster”, but its far more frail & can get KO’d easier
My 35 lv. Half health mr mime took 2 slash from blue s Charizard and even koed him
If you're building a worst team for red/blue, a psychic type shouldn't be on it, period. It's common knowledge that they're broken in that gen.
1:17 The game went under a lot of last minute changes. Which is why there was the broken type match up mechanic among other things.
Among....? Among...u...s...AMONG US
this was not a funny, jokes not laugh me
@@FireDuck6607 learn how to spell bozo
I did a challenge about the worst team on my channel a few months ago. I picked the worst Pokémon according to Pokémon Challenges gen 1 tier list video. Honestly it wasn't that hard, it's Pokémon Red & Blue after all
Mr mime is worse than Hypno
Not in all generations
Don't see how Farfetch'd flying is much
Bug and poison was actually super effective against each other in gen one, so parasect is pretty usable for the grass gym with leech life!
Arent Growlithe and Vulpix available by that time?
Ain't leech life 20 base power in gen 1-6 ?
@@tinysuperaqua it is, but it still is a quadruple because of grass and poison typing in most of the gym. i say this cause he mention that leech life could be used against psychic gym, so i had to mention this too lol
@@itstheman0nthem00n they are. But did you forget that it's a worst team to playthrough? xD
Love your video's, can you do a worst team for Crystal? I feel its just different enough for its own video.
And to think Parasect used to have a 4x weakness to Poison because Bug was weak to Poison in Gen 1. 3 quad weaknesses makes this Pokemon very difficult to use.
YAY !! I plan to have Jigglypuff as my #2 on my All-PINK PokeMon Team...
5:45 I did not realize that Waterfall was introduced in Gen 1. I had always thought (apparently incorrectly) that it was introduced in Gen 2, when it became an HM.
Wouldn't Mr Mime be worse than Hypno?
Any psychic type doesn’t make sense here given the types OPness in the gen. Onix makes moremsense.
In gen 1 yes, but not in later gens
Honestly no. Speed is extremely valuable in gen 1 and hypno is rather slow
Hypno on the team seems weird. It may or may not be the worst psychic type but it by no means is a bad pokemon. It's capable of nuking a lot of stuff with it's psychic moves.
Nonono we gotta start with the burning dumpster fire that is Charizard, the worst starter
Wigglytuff and Hypno can carry this team easily.
Yeah actually and even raticate can pull half of the game and later half its bad
In this no psychic type is more of a worst team for gen 1 option and swapped with garbage Onix
Aerodactyl was good but not great. Thanks to it's movepool being shallow due to lack of rock moves and reliance on Sky attack and it has fire blast for grass types and ice types
Did yellow version fix all the bugs in red and blue?
I’d love to see you play with some of these godawful teams!!
There not that bad why don't you use them in play though, the only pokemon I don't think anyone should use is slugma
@@jakk2631 slugma is terrible.
I wouldn't have chosen Hypno I would have choosen Mr. Mime. While Mime does have good defense his offense is very low, think reverse Alakazam. Hypno is more even on stats and yes you could choose one of the other psychic type Pokemon but I say Hypno needs a little more love.
My first solo run of Red and Blue was with Wigglytuff. It's really good.
Don’t underestimate Raticate. It’s an essential key for beating the game without getting hit. Respect General Squeaks!
Using hyper fang on a Pokémon with high hp lol
If I recall correctly, Agility actually decreases your speed in Gen 1 🤔
No it doesn't
@@evanmorisky4604 you’re right. I’m thinking of Focus Energy where the effects were the opposite as intended
I feel bad for Wigglytuff for being on the worst team for Red and Blue. I would love to use Jigglypuff and Wigglytuff since Jigglypuff is my favorite.
I love these worst team videos (:
12:40 You are mad my dude. I wish you luck with that.
Hello MysticUmbreon, I know you probably don't do this, but I wanted to give it a shot anyway. I wanted to ask you if you can create the best team for the hardest Pokemon game I have ever played. It is called Pokemon Dark Rising. I just wanted to ask so if you don't want to, I understand. Also, I love the videos you make!
How is Onix not in any of the worst teams!!!
the pokemon have to be at least not completely useless. Onix is the perfectly definition of terrible through and through.
"it needed some sort of a break somehwere" no it didnt, it is supposed to be the worst team. I would pick something else that can use psychic moves, like venomoth or something
Butterfree?
False advertising. Not worst enough. No Onix? No fighting type? HYPNO? Better title would be "top 6 most forgettable Pokemon in Kanto."
Still fun to watch tho.
Real
If that's the case, he'd just make a party with 6 magikarps. It's the worst team you can use to beat the game, not lowest stats team
@@pustindoirier I never said stats were everything. You're putting words in my mouth. You wouldn't have to go anywhere near "6 Magikarps" to find something worse than a mono-Psychic with Hypnosis that's available before Surge.
I would love to see a play though of you using these worst teams🙃
Finally Wigglytuff is on a team
AND SEAKING LETS GO
Bruh I had my Wigglytuff actually carry me through the Fire Red elite 4 cuz of it's bulkyness and wide move pool
You could have done lickitung. It can learn surf and allows you to go across the water
I dont understand why making fun of charizard makes you feel happy
Because it sucks
Competitively and gameplay wise it is absolute rubbish compared to its Gen 1 counterparts
@@itstheman0nthem00n Dude it's just at the wrong place . Kanto is not the correct place for it. Leaving the region if you see the Pokemon stats it's soo good and in games like x and y it's a beast . Kanto was too harsh for it 😐.
@@koushikreddy9363 dude x and y is so FUCKING easy
It’s not even a subjective opinion, it’s just the universal truth
Wholesome quality entertainment here folks
Eeesh. This one hurts.
Also, please do not put Charizard as a Starter for a worst team. Like, EVER.
I would argue having a psychic type on the worst team in Gen 1 isn’t fair anyways since it is the most broken type in all of Pokémon lmao
cant you substitute someone like Butterfree for the Psychic slot?
Brock is going to be rather tough…
Don't underestimate the Guildmaster!! :)
Is this really the worst list or just a list of Pokemon you don't like?
You can make a worse team and still be op with a missingno glitch Mystic
I love the tcg art
Mr. Mine is worse except for speed and thunderbolt so it probably goes there
Its a really good team, i have played every single Pokemon on a run an the all somehow were my best on the team... So this is a fun team play do it .
Wait this uploaded today on my birthday
The worst team of red and blue is 6 Magikcarp with all everstone with the move splash
That's it job done
You should do a best team for emerald kaizo probably will be harder or maybe not even possible
I'm pretty sure that a quick attack instead of hyper fang would be more useful.
Remember kids, priority is a thing.
I'd go with Super Fang. Bringing the opponent down to half health no matter what would actually be useful here.
It’s a move that will always do a certain amount of damage but it’s a good one in that category
