I just watched ur last video with Ken about why external tanks aren't reusable becuz they burn up. Fascinating and exciting that we have the last one in existence. 👍

Probably because the ET swayed a bit..it's to be expected being hoisted outside..when assembled in the huge Vehicle Assembly Building at KSC there is no wind inside..btw I heard it said this was first time the shuttle been stacked outside KSC..it's incorrect..the shuttle was supposed to fly DOD missions in Vandenberg Air Force Base back in 1980s..Space shuttle enterprise was fully stacked at Space Launch Complex 6..the idea of launching space shuttles there was abandoned because the exhaust vents was deemed dangerous.

@@bxpress6507 The shuttle was enclosed for stacking at SLC-6. A distinctive feature of that complex is that its vehicle assembly building is mobile, on rails, and encloses the launch pad for stacking then is retracted for launch.

I got nervous cuz it's the only one left I think in existence. Glad it didn't fall. 😅

    Hello, shuttle enthusiast.
It looks like it might be easier to attach the shuttle to the external tank than attaching the external tank to the booster.

IIRC they originally proposed assembling the whole stack horizontally then raising it, sort of like the Soviets did with Buran, but obviously it was decided it could be done vertically like how it was done in the VAB.
