Great video, first one I have seen about this branch.
The Cransley branch was part of the Midland Railway. It first went to Cransley Ironworks, when the stone ran out the branch went down to Loddington to the tipping dock. The branch was a mineral railway. The industrial railway was further away at Loddington. The branch was very steep in places, it was worked by loco's from Kettering loco shed. The loco's were usually Ivatt 2-6-0 tender loco's and later Riddle's standard 2-6-0. Both were quite light.
The item you found was called a chair, the rail slotted in and was held in place by a wooden or metal key.
Cohen's yard was quite good to bunk, weekends were difficult there used to be Alsation dogs kept there, not great.
    Stephen

Great video with you and Pedro I hope you both do more collaborations in the future. If it wasn’t for Pedro’s channel I wouldn’t of known about your channel. I’m not into trains as such but I’m into the history and sentimental side of former track beds tunnels stations etc . Keep up the good work your doing a fine job 👍

We used to regularly walk this line in the early seventies to go to cransley fishing. You had to be carefull as the old site had dogs which were left to roam around to stop any folks accessing the site.
My late father in law used to drive for royal blue from Pytchley the steam train wheels were grade 1 cast iron and were regularly taken to the bell foundary at stamford
There was a lot of london underground stock scrapped there between 1970 to 1976 I recall corrwctly
Cohens was bought out by the 600 group

I've shared it all over my groups I'm part of mate, and I've asked people to comment on their experiences and memories, so hopefully here or on the groups I've shared to we will get some personal memories. Something I enjoy reading. 😉 Best wishes. Pedro (Lost Pilgrim)
