Therefore, it is lumped together into the catch all group of Protists which includes all eukaryotes that are not animals, plants, or fungus.
You may be confused because there are two diseases called potato blight. One, late potato blight, is caused my an oomycota and was responsible for the potato famines of the 1840's. The other, early potato blight, is indeed caused by a fungus. I was referring to the first, more famous, disease.
