I remember watching the Cartoon Network Christmass Special: the ugly ducking at Christmass; The tangerine bear; The polar express; Rudolf; Barbie and the nutcracker. About feeling like missing decorating together, maybe you can do that with your family and also your friends. Like your mum or dad could come over and grab lunch together or something and put up the tree together. Or Shelby or some of your other friends could hang out and do "crafty" decorations and it'd feel more cozy and like creating new memories. Also, sorry if what I'm saying feels too pushy, I just think that one can miss what it was and be grateful that it happened but also look forward to new things and traditions. I know that it's hard (I have anxiety and I also used to do the Christmass tree with my grandma, who passed last year on march) but I feel that decorations and the "enviroment" you create can uplift your mood. I already asked my mum if she wants to try making a gingerbread house with me next year. We've never done one and it seemed like a fun time.

I had a similar journey with publishing aspirations in college. Like what do you mean I need to do an unpaid internship in New York City? Etc. I'm originally from Oklahoma, and I didn't want to live in a giant city so far from family. Now I'm on the path to becomming a librarian.
in another life i think i would've loved being a librarian!! selfishly i just dont want to have to deal with the public though or do non-bookish events lol
God I also got an English degree -- even got my Master's -- because I wanted to work in publishing and thought I would make myself more marketable. I've been working in an administration position at a company totally unrelated to my field and I can feel my degree just being useless. There are a lot of moments where I wish I would have majored in something else because following my dreams and doing what I wanted is not working out lol.
i never read fanfiction but i read the infamous Manacled because it was so popular on romancebooks reddit, and i destroyed me… i don’t even care about harry potter that much… but that fanfic changed my brain chemistry
