15 WAYS TO ADD DIY COTTAGE CHARM TO YOUR PATIO; BUDGET FRIENDLY PATIO MAKEOVER

- In this video, I make over my patio. I begin by assembling a sturdy metal pergola with an adjustable louvered roof. Then, I add 15 budget friendly ideas/project to give my patio cottage-like coziness. These projects include making a bird feeder from an old outdoor lantern, creating a planter from a thrifted plaster side table, turning an uncomfortable metal chair into a unique planter, adding rainfall fairy lights to a wall mounted teapot, installing an outdoor carpet sold by the square foot, adding small birdhouses to a thrifted chandelier, eliminating weeds with a bionic heat gun, making a hose stand from a large spindle and shelf brackets, building a bench with firewood storage, adding thrift store finds to patio planters, and several more.

The Gardesol pergola is in my Amazon store; however, they also sent me a direct link: bit.ly/3Q2mkY9
They also sent me a $100 OFF discount code: GDSCC100
@@sherylchapman4168 It came with attachments to bracket to the patio, but because I have slate I didn’t want to risk drilling into it. It weighs 600 pounds, so I think it will be fine unless we get tornado strength winds (which is a possibility in Illinois)!
Hi Sherri! The promo code didn’t work. Do you happen to have another one?
@@gurpreetgill2158 let me check on this.
This is very aggravating. It didn’t work for me either. I emailed my contact person and will get back to you as soon as I hear something.
I heard back from Gardesol. There is currently a 5% off button you can check on Amazon that will reduce the price by $100-as long as this coupon is available, the code won’t work. However, if you order directly from the company, you will want to use the discount code. Sorry about the confusion.
I love you, Sherry! I think if it were post-apocalyptic times, you’d be the only person I know totally self-reliant with only a small birdhouse, some Waverly white chalk paint, a few popsicle sticks, and a wood table leg! I’m learning all I can from you now to be prepared, lol! 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
We need to nickname her Ms MacGyver
Good morning, Sherry! Your patio transformation looks like a Better Homes and Garden advertisement or magazine cover. It truly is a beautiful oasis. I need that pergola in my life! Well done, as always. Thank you for inspiring. ❤
Good morning, Bobbie! Thank you. I can’t tell how excited I am about that pergola. I am going to sit out there all the time!
I agree Bee Line! It’s so beautiful! ❤️
I'm a West Virginia girl! Your neighbors are welcome anytime. The patio is off the chain. Every cat and critter will want to hang out there. Until next week be blessed.
West Virginia is such a beautiful state! My neighbors are moving to be closer to their grandchildren, so I’m sure they will be very happy there!
Sherry ,you did it again, A very English garden,so so so Etherial,I wish I had your gift. Thanks Sherry ,you never ever disappoint.xxx
I love the non-plant items you put in planters and the non-typical things you use as planters! I’ve got lots of ideas. Thank you 👏🏻
Take solar lights from dollar tree take tops off of stakes and glue to chandelier
I was also going to comment on the items added to the planters. They add so much interest!
Good morning. Sherry, you had me at pergola! You must have been reading my mind! I’ve been looking for a long time for just such a pergola. I will definitely be showing this model to my hubby. All the other decor items looked easy yet elegant! I can’t pick my most favorite because I loved them ALL! What a wonderful neighbor to give you the stunning wicker rocker! Can’t wait to see what you do with it! See you next week. Great job as always!
Thank you, Lee! So far, I am loving my pergola. I am going to sit on my patio all summer long-even in the rain!😊
@@CanterburyCottage hi , where did you get the pergola? I think I missed the link I want to show my husband also! Love it!

The Bird Feeder for the Cardinals, the Plate in the planter….see….it goes on and on ! HENCE why your videos I need to watch 2-3 times over to absorb everything !
THANK YOU…THANK YOU for starting this Channel and sharing with us all your incredible, gifted talents and tips ! I do not believe I have seen another Channel where the person gives 10-15 ideas per video! YOU AMAZE ME AND MANY MORE !

Hello Sandra, how are you doing?
That's a gorgeous vintage rocking chair - what a lovely gift to remember your neighbors by!
🐼 Big Bear Hugs from a 68 yr old grandma in Kirby, Texas, USA 🐼 ❤ 🎀 ❤ 🎀 ❤ 🎀
I did see the moving van and wondered if they were the neighbors with the hydrangea bush, lol
How nice of them to gift you the rocker!
Your patio looks like another room in your house; so cozy! My favorite piece was the bench with the wood storage.
Much love!
They are not the hydrangea neighbors, but I probably should plant some of my own hydrangeas (just in case those neighbors move, too.)😜
@@CanterburyCottage hahahaha good thinking!
Oh my goodness, everything is so charming and inviting! I'm 10 months late, and it's still fun to catch up on more of your inspired makeovers. Thank you! 💗
The patio turned out so cute. I love how you repurpose thrifted items.
Hello Sharon, how are you doing?
"Where there's a will there's a way" used to be my motto when I was starting my life back in when I was in 20s. Then life happened. Then I got into survival mode.
When I was watching your video it was reminded me so gently but firmly (the motto I had). Like old friend visited me... thank you. It was very inspiring.

Your patio looks fabulous I absolutely loved all of your ideas and recycled materials to make it all beautiful.
Hi Mary, how are you doing?
What a beautiful space! Amazing ideas, as usual. I always look forward to Tuesday😊
I love your videos and find it refreshing how you think outside the box. Some projects are something I would not have thought possible. Keep them coming!!
Absolutely love your pergola, your patio, and everything on it! If I lived anywhere near you, I'd rent your patio for a few hours every day!
WOW!! So many creative ideas Sherry. I am blown away yet again. The pergola is beautiful. I love the little birdhouse you made for the cardinals and the ceramic plant stand you created. It would be great if you could post pictures of your patio transformation in 3 months when everything has filled out. I would love to see that. Keep up the great work! You are an inspiration to so many and such a sweet lady 💞
Wow
Yes I was thinking the same thing. Always fun to see updates of the transformation.
Absolutely gorgeous. Thanks for all the good ideas that don't break a person. You are an outdoor patio artist!
Love everything but that bench for wood is absolutely gorgeous and the planter chair is beautiful!!!!! The patio looks beautiful!!!!!!!!
Dear Sherry, these are all amazing projects! Happy Tuesday!
You did an amazing makeover Sherri! You gave me lots of inexpensive ideas for my patio! Thank you so much! 👍🏻
Hello Angie, how are you doing?
You’re so right Sherry…. When my neighbors move they always give me things they’re not taking with them. In the last year I have been graciously given a empire era dresser, 1950’s step stool, plant stands, kitchen scales, a Sellars Cabinet and a 1940’s Chiffarobe. Plus, don’t be shy about plants!!! People often don’t take their house plants or outdoor planters!! Great Patio video! Thx Sherry!
Love the birdhouse chandelier❤️❤️❤️
Your sweet spirit is the best thing about your RUclips Channel and I'm happy to be here every Tuesday!
You are truly amazing! I am in awe of your vision for a space and how you create these ideas!
The mushrooms were a sweet idea! And I really like the teapot with the streaming water lights! Thanks for the inspiration once again
Who wouldn't want to spend time out in that darling little patio?
That birdhouse chandelier is SO CUTE!
Sherry. You are so amazing with all of your creativity. Love the "new" outdoor area. It's more than just an outdoor space, it's an outdoor oasis.
All I would like to see as an addition would be some soft lighting and a water feature. TFS
What a beautiful and cozy transformation! I really enjoy your ideas to change items into planters! I’ll certainly keep an eye open for similar things at my thrift stores! Have a blessed week and see you next Tuesday!
Hello Shelly, how are you doing?
So glad you are back to the classic layouts. Crazy, ransom note cut out titles are so incongruent with your classic elevated style. You have beautiful ideas and it is a bright spot in my week to watch your videos! Thank you.
Love the patio make over. I always put a statue or plate in planters. Helps keep squirrels out!
I really love your patio makeover it's beautiful and as always your blessed with the ability to recreate old things into new ones. Thank you for sharing your ideas.
How inviting! I really enjoyed last year's patio remake video but the addition of the rug, pergola, wood box, and planters turned your patio into a space with plenty of "wow" factors making it ready for summer enjoyment. This video is great inspiration for reinventing what you already have and investing in what you need to buy for larger structural or foundational pieces. Thanks for taking the time to share this remake with us!
Thank you, Nancy! 😊 I know the pergola is not necessarily budget-friendly, but I think it is well worth the cost because we will use our patio so much more now.
I love your thrifted items. I think rooms and outdoors look so more more interesting, and unique than big box store items.
Add lights by putting solar path light tops into an old candle chandelier. Your patio is beautiful. I especially like your pergola and fairy lights!
beautiful transformation! The pergola sure made a huge improvement, very welcoming and cozy patio! ❤
Your patio makeover looks so good! Great ideas there! Thanks Sherrie for sharing your wonderful talents!💜
Hi Sherry. WOW!! WHAT A BEAUTIFUL TRANSFORMATION!!
I have seen pergolas like that before and I think that they are not only esthetically pleasing to look at but they are so practical. What a cozy hide away you have created. I especially appreciate all the decor planting ideas that you gave me. I can't wait to do some of those mushrooms. With everything being so expensive these days, I can't thank you enough for all your amazing ideas on doing over thrifted items. I wish you many wonderful days sitting outside on your spectacular patio, garden area.
🤗🌲🌺🌸🌴🍄🌼🐝🤗
Your patio is awesome. I would love to join you on it any time of day.
I absolutely love the plastic column turned planter. It's so awesome. It would also look good as an end table with a piece of tempered glass on the top. I'm going to have to look for one or more of these.
The lamp is awesome too. Let's face it. Everything you create is awesome!!!
Battery operated Fairy fairy lights would look awesome on your birdhouse chandelier !!
Hi Sherry …Thank You so much for sharing your wonderful ideas for outdoor spaces. That pergola is the best one I’ve ever seen,
Also thanks for continuing to do diys and not just transfers. I loved your birdhouse chandelier and the colorful water globes .As always great video !
I love this video! I have a covered patio but the afternoon sun is so intense, I put drop cloth curtains up, used copper tubing for rods. You have given me so many ideas using things I have in my garage! I wish I had your construction skills, you are awesome!
Hello donna, how are you?
Welcome to your old neighbors from the wonderful state of West Virginia !!! Of course, I love all your clever ideas you did on your patio !
Love the fairy lights.
I've been working on my 4th floor screened in patio. It's been so fun finding different items to use a pots. Lovely area!!! Looking forward to next week! 💕
Fabulous!!! ❤️ We are redoing our patio cover, and creating more of an "outdoor room". I love the tray on top of the fire pit! And you have given me loads of planter ideas!
Hello Melody, how are you doing?
Well Sherry you've done it once more and that pergola is a dream come true! What a great focal point to get the whole thing started. I think bright green lumbar pillows would bring a pop of color and coordinate with the moss in the terrarium. A large sunburst on the house with a smiling face would be cool too! You'll need a bucket and small shovel for your ashes from the table fire pit...how about a galvanized container and a small garden trowel for a scoop. Maybe some remote candles. You have definitely inspired me..I hope you get lots of use out of your patio and enjoy watching the birds and your flowers grow!!! A little bit of sun to warm and relax you sounds good to me!!
Thank you for all of these ideas, Maureen! I have a super cute vintage shovel that I am going to use for ashes (now, that you have reminded me of it)!
You are so right! Sharing our love for the things that make us happy - crafting, repurposing, cooking, canning, vintage, and more - is sharing a piece of ourselves. Often, the gift of sharing our love returns to us. When it is time to part with something I have truly loved, it is even more special if I can give it to someone who will continue to love it in their own way. Often, when decluttering, I donate. But those really special items find homes where they will start a new life! Shared love multiplies the love in the same way shared grief divides the grief and helps make it bearable. We are meant to share - it benefits the giver and receiver! Lovely patio, too!
Well said, Audrey! ❤️ I usually donate when decluttering, but I am going to first think about friends who might like to have some new old things!
For an added finishing touch: in order to emphasize that the flowing lights are actually coming from the tea pot, outline its circumference with fairy lights conformed to shape of the teapot.
Oh my gosh, you think like I do. I love refurbishing old things by making them beautiful & new. Picked up a old log bed in a trash pile, will be making a “Bed of Roses” in my flower garden. So much fun . Your work is beautiful❤️
My aunt passed away and her favourite summer chair was wicker that she thrifted. I will be refurbishing it with new paint and cushion in her memory. Thank you for all your crafty ideas. I can’t wait for summer to arrive.
Too much talking and no visuals of the process. This content is more suitable for Audiobooks rather than RUclips.
Muted.

Yes loved the pergola! Thank you for sharing your great ideas once again. ❤️ Unfortunately our thrift stores don’t sell such great items for THAT cheap
I do feel lucky to have such good thrift stores in my area.
I love the chair planter with the rabbit . So cute!
Your patio turned out like a little slice of paradise, so many good and beautiful ideas, just like your neighbors gifted you that lovely chair I thank you for sharing your wonderful ideas with me.
What a lovely place to be day or night. The command strip tip is just what I need to train my vines.....And that chair! You can be sure I'll watch the sequel.
I have never heard of an adjustable pergola. What a great idea!
I must work in my backyard this summer !
Such a delightful video !
Hello Sweet friend, I love the pergola I would love one in my area. I also like the wicker chair,it would look so cute in a baby’s room with pink and white pillow and curtains to match. Have a wonderful day. God Bless.
Thank you, Sheryl! I thought the same thing-that rocker would be perfect in a nursery! Maybe, I’ll be a grandma one day soon!🤞
What an amazing transformation!!! Your patio looks so inviting and comfortable now. I would love to sit there and chat with you while sipping a nice glass of iced tea or fresh lemonade!!! Have a great week!!!
SOO CUTE🫶🏻I love all the little additions to the plants!!!

Sweet neighbors. Love the patio makeover.
Love the tip about purchasing carpet by the square foot. Seems like a no-brained now that you shared it, but I had not thought of it!
Love the bird house chandelier. I just took one down and now I know what to do with it.🤩
Hi Sandy, how are you doing
All very nice but my favorite is the tea pot with lights for water. Love all the ideas, as usual!
TGIT -- Thank Goodness it's Tuesday! Your planters are exceptional, especially the "marble" column! The entire look is so whimsical, welcoming and cohesive.
That bench is beautiful! I want those mushrooms and that little bunny. Everything looks wonderful
Just wanted to say thanks again for creating this video! I garden in zone 9b and just noticed today that the RUclips algorithm send viewers to my video from this one! Yay!!! Thats always fun to discover. So I just wanted to stop by and show some love! 🧡❤️💜💙💚
Hello, Ms. Happy! I am so glad that I can send some viewers your way. I’m going to go check out your channel right now! 🥰
So charming! The chandelier with bird houses is sooo cute!
I'll definitely be borrowing your idea for 2 plaster columns I rescued from the rubbish bin across the street. THANKS!
Hello Angela, how are you doing?
Waiting eagerly for next week's video Sherry!! Such a beautiful rocking chair, a neighbor gifted me a Hoosier Cabinet that I had offered to buy. The bunny is adorable and you just amaze me at all the ways you use former outdoor lights, chandeliers, etc. The wood holder bench is perfect! I'll be checking out the pergola as my back patio and deck are in full sun. Thank you for sharing 🙂❤️
Thank you, Madonna! A Hoosier cabinet is a truly generous gift-how lucky you are!
@@CanterburyCottage I felt like it, they had three!!
Thank you so much for all the BEAUTIFUL ideas,I LOVE each and everyone of them ❣️❤️❤️
Hi Maria, how are you doing?
WOW, what a talent! I just bought (last week) a Solar Waterfall Watering Can and I paid over $30.00 and then I see how easy and inexpensive you made yours. I'm definitely going to return it and make one. Thanks for sharing.
Hello Sandy, how are you doing?
It turned out beautiful, but I must say my favorite is the bench to store the fire wood.
You need some hanging baskets or planters to cozy up the seating area. Fabulous transformation on the space!!
I'm 6 mins into this video and already loving it! Thank you for all the thrifty ideas!
Your patio is beautiful! What a wonderful place to hang out in the summertime! 💕☀️🪴🍄
