- Comedian Lavell Crawford sat down with DJ Vlad to discuss his humble beginnings and career. Crawford discusses his weight as a child on how being overweight helped him to find his love of comedy when other kids would tease him. He discusses getting part of his stomach taken out during a gastric bypass sleeve, and trying to eat healthy foods. While growing up in St. Louis, Crawford explains how his father was a bodybuilder, and what made him get into comedy. He recalls being amazed by Sinbad when he did stand-up at his college and deciding at the moment what he wanted to do.

Mannn I lost 100lbs all diet no exercise, from 2015-2016 and never felt better. Im 6'0 and went from 271 to 170. It was hard but soooo worth it. From xxxl shirts to mediums. size 40 pants to 32-34. When i was a big dude i had to force my confidence, but now im confident without even trying or thinking about it . now i inspired my mama to go on a diet. She's 57 and lost over 50lbs and counting. i ate alot of chicken, oatmeal, eggs, salad, tuna salad filled with lots of chopped veggies on whole wheat bread. I drank A LOT of water. And i didn't do cheat "days" i did cheat meals once per week and still stayed within my calorie limit on those days. I googled "calorie calculator" and put my info in to determine how many calories i could eat per day to lose x amount of pounds per week. I stepped on the scale once per week. Next step for me is to get in the gym and tone up and build strength. Hope this helps someone.

Jay McMillon just take in less calories.. daily recommended is 2000.. so if you take 3000 and burn 1000 off... or if you don't wanna exercise, just take in 1500 or so.... less calories= less fat

Who the fuck you think you are saying surgery is cheating? Can u imagine what a person goes through emotional and physically, theres alot of suffering and it hurts so much. And especially if you get to the point where your staring at death in the face or the real possibility that any day could be your last , you look for anything to save you . Prop to Lavell! I went from 310 to a current 272lbs from thanksgiving 2k16 to now(3/28/17). I stopped ALL fast food and junk, no sodas sugar juice fried foods and I exercise DAILY! Granted i am 6'7'' but I got on the court last week and took off and dunked on someone. When I was 310 it was all layups and jumpshots lol. Much respect!

Same. My homie was obese and eventually had a heart attack. Many moon later, Covid hit, he was sharing the funny memes like everyone else, but once he got covid, he didn't stand a chance. I was so hurt when I got the news but I remember we had a conversation about how if we pass, don't cry, just laugh about all the funny moments.

As much as I'm used to seeing the superheavy Lavell Crawford, for his sake and his son's, it's good to see him so much lighter. He looks dramatically healthier, and he seems to have a lot more energy. His breathing was very labored before. Lavell even seems 'younger' since he's able to move with greater ease. I wonder how much longer John Candy and Chris Farley could have lived if they'd been able to control their weight like Lavell Crawford has.
