thank you so much for making this video! i've always been confused about standard deviation and how to calculate it so this was much needed. keep up the good work!
Your videos are so useful! I can't thank you enough! Before I discovered your channel, I was facing so much difficulty in paper 5 but after watching your videos, everything makes so much more sense. Thank you! Please keep making more videos like these. Also, it would be really helpful if you would solve some paper 5 with a step by step guide on how to solve each question, especially those limitation questions. I always get stuck on those.
Hi, you can check out the A2 playlist, there are a few statistical test videos, including t test. The next one I am making will be about standard error :)
Hey I have an old video about immobilised vs free enzyme using yeast cells and methylene blue. Not sure if you meant that experiment: ruclips.net/video/o89_G0Le1-w/видео.html
Hi, if the question asks you to do that, it's usually the error bar determined by Sm, standard error (mean +- 2 x Sm). The bar I showed in the video is only for comparison, it's not the actual bar you plot in the exam.
You have used error bar method for both standard deviation and standard error so what is the difference between them when both are being used to draw error bars?
The bar for standard deviation is just a quick comparison of your data(sample), it does not take into account the whole population. While the error bar calculated using the standard error is called the 95% confidence interval. When you use the error bar to make a comparison, you are 95% sure that the conclusion you make is true about the population which you obtained your sample from. When drawing an error bar in a graph, it is the one you calculated using standard error, not the first one.
Hi I've a question. Is Standard deviation is used 1. When we want to determine how the data is spread in a sample mean? And 2. Also to compare if there is a significant difference between two samples Also in a research say I take one sample and if the SD is very big does this mean I need to take another sample for the research?
Hi, 1. Yes 2. Even though the standard error is more often used for this purpose, the standard deviation can sometimes be used to get a rough idea for that. Yes. If SD is too large, it means your mean value is not reliable.

You are welcome!

Thank you for the encouraging words! I am planning to make paper discussion videos after this.
Thank you for sharing this tutorial. Keep sharing. Stay connected... more power to you!
Thank you :)
thank you so much for your videos!
You are so welcome!
this video is very helpful! it would be great if you can make one on other mathematical things in paper 5 such as t -test, etc.. thank you :D

@@DBiologyClassroom thank you so much!
thaankyouu so much,
absolutely helped me out, thankyou it was perfect
Thank you for the kind words :)
Hey David. Can you make a video on practicasl of yeast and enzymes for AS Biology? Thanks !

Do questions about standard deviation only appear in Paper 5? Thank you for making the video :)
Usually paper 5, but there were a few times in P4 as well.
And you are welcome !
do we have to draw the error bars?

@@DBiologyClassroom okay thankyouu
What is this standard deviation used for in biology
In biostatistics. For A-level, it is widely used in the data sampling part.
thank you so much
You are welcome!

so we can use error bars using standard error and also standard deviation to see if results overlap?
Yes, those are the different ways to analyse data
will the formula be given to us?
Yes, you don't have to memorise the formula
