Here Bob is apologizing that it is a 7 part long series. Me thinking it’s only 7 parts and I’d watch 10 parts! Great presentation and build videos. Keep up the great work.
Your video was helpful for my building this Volvo FH16 Tow Truck - especially the programming with the radio. Now it's done and everything ist functioning. Thanks from Switzerland Felix
Wow ! With all the details and attention you put in that model, it can't be anything else than a masterpiece. Absolutely awesome. Thank you for this good video.
Wow what can I say you have done yourself proud ! I am so looking forward to doing my build next month * you are an inspiration to all RC builders thank you
Bob.... That's STUNNING!! As my English Friends say, that's quite a bit of Kit! NOW Tamiya needs to make an actual Fire Truck!!! Could you imagine!? An American LaFrance - with Tamiya quality!?? It would also be a Wiring NIGHTMARE, but beyond impressive..... OR a Hook and Ladder - with rear Trailer STEERING?? 😲
Great, big project, as always You put your heart and a lot of work into it. I admit that I do not like this set very much, I prefer more universal trucks that can carry various things. However, the amount of fun during assembly is well worth the price. I have reservations about the headlights, they could have tried harder and added some lenses to better diffuse the light. I also think that they should think about cables, there are a lot of them, unfortunately there is not enough space for them. It was great to watch, thank You for Your work, I am currently building an Arocs timber truck with 6x6 drive, planetary gearbox, Beier module and many other improvements. When I'm fed up, I watch Your movies and regain energy for the project :) Thanks Bob!
Thanks for the videos. I am partway through my build at the moment working on the cab having completed the chassis. The problem we are having in the UK is low or no stocks of Tamiya parts due to Covid-19. Shortages include the likes of LED extensions, TS spay paints etc. I did manage to get oil filled dampers though and they fit great. It seems sad that Tamiya could not have included additional wiring in such a premium kit. I am enjoying building the kit though and thanks for all your tips.
Very nice build. I watched your king hauler build (one day build!) I've been building my grand for weeks now...I've built many, MANY kits over my 20 + years in the rc hobby but I wanted to take my time, no rush. The paint process is my least favorite and that is finally done. Just need to add the details to the body. I was amazed when you built one in a day. I don't believe you installed the MFU kit but that's still amazing. My interest in RC has slowed over the years. Your's seems to be trucking right along! No pun intended ;)
Great truck! Really good job!..yah know...the way you start your videos off "sitting there leaning in and smiling" I can imagine Chevy Chase "Clark Griswold" filling in for you😄. Good job Cheers!🍻
Another great vid. I came across your channel due to this build and have really enjoyed it and also learnt alot of neat tricks thanks, From New Zealand P.S would be awesome if you get international shipping for your website
Nice Truck. Red is all wrong for me. also the problem with painting metalic paints unless you have the panels laying in the same direction the finish looks different.
fill the diffs with 2.000.000 weight silicone oil if used outside or uneven ground, you will be pleased with the difference! It will act like limited slip diff.
Love this series of videos, wish I could afford one of these but I don't see the point of the electric arm lift, if it also included working winches it may have made more sense.
Hey Bob, I’m in Australia and just bought one of these tow trucks locally and I am going to use another MFC-03. I have watched all your videos on building it-very professional and well detailed. I already have a King hauler with an MFC-03 but at the moment I’m only using the the Futaba 4WYD which is a pain in the butt. looking to change over to a FS-I6 for both trucks. Your videos say you have a setup guide on how to set the transmitter. Any chance on a link on how to do it? Appreciate your help in advance Cheers Gerry .
Generally glue interferes with plastic cement. Use E6000 on painted parts or similar (or screw them together). The Beier SFR-1 does not have vibration motor capability by itself. You could add a small speed control to work a vibration unit but I personally do not like vibration. They shake the trucks apart.
Ha! I really wanted to show the one where my hobby knife rolled off the bench and stuck in my leg standing straight up but did not get it on video!! The spiral wrap came from a Grand Hauler kit - I do need to source it somewhere and when I do will let you know.
I'm building the kit right now, I'm a few weeks behind you so your videos have been quite a helpful preview of what is to come. I'm a little surprised Tamiya instructs us to paint nearly all of the already-black plastic parts with TS-29 black, especially when you consider that so many are not even highly visible in the finished model, like the boxes that go along the sides and get covered by the exterior skin. I guess they show up somewhat as the fender trim. Did you paint all the already-black parts black as instructed? I did buy 6 cans of TS-29, so I guess I'll follow the instructions.
I painted all the parts that show like air intakes, bumpers, grills, winch parts etc. I also painted all the hinges that are molded in white?? I did not paint the side boxes, internal covers etc.
Hi my name brad really love your channel and how you explain this is very useful. I've learnt this I never knew, years ago I had a ford aeromax and looking at getting back into the hobby. I've ordered this Volvo tow truck and wanted to advised with the light kit and what extras to do similar to the one you have done chers
WOW!!! It turned out amazing!!!!Ill be building one over the winter and take my time. Other than the dash, and cab lights dose it come with enough leds for the kit with the MFU 03?
It comes with enough but Tamiya has provided spots for led's in may more places. The twol lights in th eback of the light bars, several rear facing spotlights and an extra space in the rear lights. Also all those orange side lenses (that have a screw under them) are intriguing!
Hi again.. I intend to do this model next year, so I do have some time to work this out but you may be able to save me some time... Is there a way that one can put electric winches on?
I’ve watched all of your MFC-01/MFC-03 and feel that I have followed your transmitter setup to a tee but I can’t get the MFC-03 to cycle through the lights. What’s your secret?
I use 2 cell lipos with them all the time with no problems. Only issue is they do not have the shutdown voltage correct and if you are not careful can discharge the battery to much. You can purchase separate unit for that if you really want to.
Hi Bob been looking forward to this video you do amazing builds 👍 very detailed, so does Tamiya make just the back half for a grand Hauler I prefer the long nose trucks?
Here Bob is apologizing that it is a 7 part long series. Me thinking it’s only 7 parts and I’d watch 10 parts! Great presentation and build videos. Keep up the great work.

Bob A very impressive kit you have the patience of a Saint. Great work well done mate.
WOW!!! The livery is fantastic, really looks the part of a fleet service vehicle.
Wow ! With all the details and attention you put in that model, it can't be anything else than a masterpiece. Absolutely awesome. Thank you for this good video.
Stunning work once again Bob! Each video of yours that I watch I catch some ideas to apply to my rig.
So glad I found your channel
I really enjoyed watching you assemble this; turned out really nice! 🚒🚒🚒
You did a fantastic job, its a real nice piece of art!👏👏👍👍
I have enjoyed watching the entire build of this truck. What a beast and wiring nightmare. Great job and it shows your skills of building.
I am looking forward to eventually getting my own Grand Hauler kit and build it someday. Beautiful truck

I hope to organize a truck meet in the Boise area next year..... stay tuned....
Wow what can I say you have done yourself proud ! I am so looking forward to doing my build next month * you are an inspiration to all RC builders thank you

Great video! Totally enjoyed the whole build. Looking forward to your next one.
love your build videos, keep them coming
Other superb build Bob. It was great to watch.
It is a really nice looking truck, and after building a Tamiya semi not that long ago they do put a lot of detail into them.
1 st really nice to see you back building
Oh I have been building - just a lot of projects for customers that don't make it to You Tube!
Awesome job Bob. Impeccable! Another great video!
Amazing build ...!
Awesome work Bob. Very impressive.
Absolutely stunning
Excellent work Bob that's a really amazing kit Tamiya have produced. Amazing detailing especially the grip pads on each side.

Amazing, well done !!
Awesome build love the videos do more with you test driving them
That part actually came out o.k. I am going to get a table top tripod and do more of it in the future.

I agree, the kits should have had the 3 required light strings included. I soldered up my own.
That's a really great quality kit!

Thanks! This whole ting started by accident but as long as I am having fun going to keep at it!!
1 Word. Superb.
Hey I like the FDNY logo on the side
Great truck! Really good job!..yah know...the way you start your videos off "sitting there leaning in and smiling" I can imagine Chevy Chase "Clark Griswold" filling in for you😄. Good job Cheers!🍻

Another great vid. I came across your channel due to this build and have really enjoyed it and also learnt alot of neat tricks thanks,

P.S would be awesome if you get international shipping for your website
I think I would have tied the light bar in with the emergency flashers so the bar flashes.
Incleible hermoso...
Nice Truck. Red is all wrong for me. also the problem with painting metalic paints unless you have the panels laying in the same direction the finish looks different.
one amazing NYFD volvo fh16
Belo trabalho
Thank you!
すごい、消防車みたいに真っ赤な、レッカートラックが出来上がったww
fill the diffs with 2.000.000 weight silicone oil if used outside or uneven ground, you will be pleased with the difference! It will act like limited slip diff.
Your a "Top Notch" builder bud. Your on a much higher level than me. My problems are TAKING MY TIME, and getting frustrated.
Love this series of videos, wish I could afford one of these but I don't see the point of the electric arm lift, if it also included working winches it may have made more sense.
So Bob, did you get to build up any arm muscles by the number of times you have lifted the truck up. LOL
Ha! There is a lot of truck there!
Looks like NC
Shame on you Bob how could you forget the bracket other than that the truck looks amazing
Bob, Do the top Beacon Lights flash? Very cool Rig. Thanks for your time.
also do you have a video on smoke kits
Be much cooler if you had another fire engine being towed that was painted and decaled to FDNY

Can I glue parts together even though I painted the parts?
I bought the baier sfc1 bundle. Should it have the rumble motor and weight?
Generally glue interferes with plastic cement. Use E6000 on painted parts or similar (or screw them together). The Beier SFR-1 does not have vibration motor capability by itself. You could add a small speed control to work a vibration unit but I personally do not like vibration. They shake the trucks apart.
do you know where i can buy a smoke kit for these semi trucks
I love the way it turned out. Is there a way that the yellow light bar could strobe, I am not sure if it could be done.
Yeah, future project. Would have to run it from a different system but would look pretty awesome.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC yes it does looks pretty good without them flashing.
Bob, where did you source spiral loom that small?
Fantastic video! It takes a great man to show his mistakes.
Ha! I really wanted to show the one where my hobby knife rolled off the bench and stuck in my leg standing straight up but did not get it on video!! The spiral wrap came from a Grand Hauler kit - I do need to source it somewhere and when I do will let you know.
@@HobbyconceptsLLC Yes, PLEASE do let us know! I'd LOVE to get my hands on some of it!
Did I miss something? What controls operate the tow boom?
I'm building the kit right now, I'm a few weeks behind you so your videos have been quite a helpful preview of what is to come. How can I get one please let me know how 🤔
Need blue strobes and blue lightbar
is there a cheaper alternative way for the mfu-03 they go for 300 dollars
I feel that I may need a bigger battery
Hi i have also bild the truck but te steering is not great now i want a secund steering servo how i program it on my bierer sfr-1 grtz from holland
WOW!!! It turned out amazing!!!!Ill be building one over the winter and take my time. Other than the dash, and cab lights dose it come with enough leds for the kit with the MFU 03?

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍🎥
What sticker paper do you use to do you stickers
I use Monokote Trim film.
👍👍
Have you tried towing a hauler with a trailer on it? ;-)
It would tow that easily.
Do you sell any of the builds you have done?
where do you get the fdny stickers
There is a link in the video description.
Hi again..
I intend to do this model next year, so I do have some time to work this out but you may be able to save me some time... Is there a way that one can put electric winches on?
I don't think it would be hard at all. I would use continuous rotation servos under the boom.
I’ve watched all of your MFC-01/MFC-03 and feel that I have followed your transmitter setup to a tee but I can’t get the MFC-03 to cycle through the lights. What’s your secret?
If you are using a Flysky FS-i6x it programs differently than the FS-i6. Email me for a setup sheet. My email in video description.
Hi Bob great video. Did you find away to use a lipo battery for the Tamiya M F C unit?
I use 2 cell lipos with them all the time with no problems. Only issue is they do not have the shutdown voltage correct and if you are not careful can discharge the battery to much. You can purchase separate unit for that if you really want to.
Ok I'll try 2 cell lipo. Maybe use a volt meter To let you know when it's getting to low. What's the run time... about 20 minutes?
Hello bob can I ask you a question about the tow truck please
Sure, my email is in the video description.
Hi Bob been looking forward to this video you do amazing builds 👍 very detailed, so does Tamiya make just the back half for a grand Hauler I prefer the long nose trucks?
They do not, yet.... I may build up one in the future just for fun.
