Problem with all-inclusive is that, to get your money's worth - you basically cannot leave the hotel (or else you will miss meals)

Not really correct though. Like they said here, by the time you’re left with what you pay for food, it’s £45 for 7 days - £6.42 per day. Now, a pint of beer/lager in Marmaris averages around £2-£3. So if you have 2 pints per day, one with lunch and one with your dinner in the evening, that means you have to get any other drinks (tea/coffee/soft drinks) plus meals, for under £2.42 per day for it to be more cost effective to not go All Inclusive.

    • @kingcobra851
      @kingcobra851 2 месяца назад +70

@@NJTRAF they said £45 per day, not £45 for 7 days.
but the way they have compared is not correct, first they added up wrong it was £54 for the stuff they showed (taxi costs isn't included in all inclusive and 99 percent of the time there is restaurants next to or within 5 min walk of hotels by the nature of tourism) and that was for both of them (showed in the last part they were adding two meals and two wines to get £40, so the other prices can only be assumed to be the total costs for both) so they spent £54 pound out of a £90 daily budget (they said the total costs for holiday were per person)
they also didn't buy equivalent food compared to all inclusive, you can get local food and drinks for cheaper, you can also buy food and drink in to cook in your hotel which would bring the prices down even more.
all inclusive vs self catering is never about the price either way, all inclusive is just for convenience and mostly for people who don't really want to leave the hotel and spend there holiday around the pool or using just the hotel facilities.
If you also want to explore the locations or food outside the hotel and have all inclusive, then the costs vs is just massively in favour of self catering

All inclusive is definitely worth it. Did all inclusive in the Dominican Republic 5* resort at £1400 pp, and once I looked separately at flight/accommodation cost, it was a bargain!
Athens I did payg this year, but had breakfast included in my stay. That cost £600pp, and the food & drink elsewhere was very very cheap (maybe £15 pp every day).
All depends on the countries economic state as to whether it is worthwhile.

Me and my other half travel to salou in Spain a lot and have done both our first time we paid as we go to try as much as we wanted and it did rack up a lot but was incredible the other times we have done half board and inclusive and I think half board is best for us breakfast at the hotel, go somewhere for lunch and then dinner back at the hotel gives us the flexibility of the rest of the day doing what we want all inclusive was useful but you couldn't take drinks to the rooms so you would be sat in a very quiet bar which wasn't so much our thing lovely when spending time by the pool but yeah half board is a nice middle ground :)

A think the value of all inclusive, or any sort of catering plan isn't necessarily that it's cost affective, because that's a rabbit hole that ends with eating ramen out of a cup in your hotel room and everyone lands where they are comfortable with after a while. The value is that you know you can stroll up to the bar or cafe, get whatever you want from the menu you've bought into, and not think about it past that. It's a suspension of having to deal with food and drink beyond let's try this or that

  • @David_Trowbridge
    @David_Trowbridge Месяц назад +90

For me the best deal is breakfast included. Have a massive breakfast that you've already paid for, a tiny lunch/snack out and about and a nice restaurant dinner at a different place each evening. This is how my family have done it for our last few holidays and it never fails

For me (especially with young kids) it’s an absolute hassle trying to find somewhere to eat 3 meals per day if you leave the hotel. If you stay in the hotel for almost all meals you might as well have gone all in.
We go all inclusive and make sure there are at least 4-5 restaurants so it’s not too repetitive. Then we can just eat as and when without planning. So much easier to roll down to breakfast, all eat then you can hit the pool with the kids.
We buy convenience and if you stay in nice places you always get good food in most of their restaurants even if one or two isn’t the best.

All inclusive, no thanks? Did it 2 times, and no, it's not worth it! Cheap repetitive food, Waterered down alcohol and that was 4/5 star. Day 3 and i have to go out to eat. But amazingly, the quality and choices out of the resort are amazing depending on where you go!

How the f€ck did you pay £5 for tea? And also wtf, £40 for dinner? I paid less than that in the literal centre of Istanbul... But ye, I guess everything is expensive if you get ripped off every time you set foot out the hotel 😂

    Good video.
Tip: know the 'delta' between the meal-options. Increasingly, I find half-board makes more sense, as I like to do excursions during the day.
Another tip; if AI, watch the drinking! I'll try and keep to eight during the course of a day, which sounds like more than it is.
My last booking had a delta, over half-board, of £50/day, in high-end Mauritius. For that, I get those 8 drinks, a lunch, and more restaurant choices for dinner. Is that worth £50? Marginal, I think. Perhaps I should have gone half-board and take in a litre of duty-free.

45quid for drinks alone in the evening is worth it alone. 9quid a cocktail drink 4 in evening and breakfast ur quids in. Also if places have desert bars like ice cream it's well worth it. Yes ur not getting ur monies with missing a couple of meals but you make up for it from drink and breakfasts alone

It maybe cheaper but you miss out on the experience of visiting local sights, the food (especially in Turkey is really good), getting a taste of the vibe of the place. You might as well stay at home. If you want the experience don't do all inclusive. Find a nice B&B, have a good breakfast and then dine like the locals. You get the best of everything

I love how the comments are like “you will only get your money worth if you stay in the hotel” 😅 that’s not true. If you eat a large breakfast, go out with fruit and snacks they provide, large meal when you get back, you can easily make up £45 worth. People really assume you’re needing to sit by the food are trying to find issues. Last year, I went all inclusive to Portugal, my friend and her fella paid as she went, my hotel was better, my flight was better, I got British airways, she booked Ryan air, I got a transfer to my hotel, she had to get a taxi, my food was so good in hotel I only needed to eat out twice and that was because I didn’t want to be anti social, I took sandwiches out with me and the hotel gave me a cooler bag. I spent £500 less than she did and she got a deal because there were 2 of them (it was actually £1000 more but I split it) it sounds like people are picking the first all inclusive deal they see. Weird brags going on. Remember that lower quality places will advertise more, shop around. 😅

I have only been to a all-inclusive resort once in Brazil because I've got it as a gift. It was kinda nice having drinks and food available all day but rather boring. I was lucky I have just stayed there for few days so I could arrange a trip to visit a turtle sanctuary and Salvador city. All inclusive holidays are not for me though.

Mate, a meal at a restaurant for a family of 3 is around 70 pounds in Marmaris, let's say breakfast is cheaper. But you will still pay close to 200 pounds for a day, all inclusive is the way to go. Nobody is stopping you from visiting the area and having the odd lunch sometimes.

All inclusive is great if you want the same boring food every day. From my experience they usually change one or two types of food each day, but that's about it.
Personally I rather spend 20-30 more each day to enjoy my food and to get better flavors.

Few years ago the All inclusive was really worth it. Now with inflation the food is mostly bad quality and just quantity , you eat poor just because is paid. Drinks are far from those in bars . Proper All inclusive in luxury hotels costs really a lot min £1200 per person,to enjoy.
Best option is hotel+ amazing affordable food in local restaurants.
All inclusive is still good for heavy drinkers

The benefit of not staying at the resort all day is that you will not be at the same resort for your entire holiday.
I couldn’t imagine picking AI over a trip where you actually see the culture etc and also enjoy all the same things you can on a resort.
AI holidays are the vacation version of what’s wrong in this world. If you travel somewhere you spend money with small business owners etc, All inclusive just dumps money into big corps who underpay their staff en some ceo will be laughing at the bank.
That said, I could understand it of u have a lot of children, just for convenience. Any other situation; pls reconsider.

If you've got young kids, i think maybe best to ho all inclusive, but flip side of the coin, your restricted to the one place, if the foods rotten and drinks watered down, its not ideal, but you've paid upfront for it, you can possibly go outside cheaper or it at least will be a better choice of food and better quality.
