The 'protagonist' can be a 'villain', and the 'antagonist' can be a Hero. this is shown in the Saga of Tanya because Tanya herself feels little to no remorse for killing and lying to people for personal gain, making her a villainous protagonist, while Mary is a heroic antagonist because her goals are to stop the war and get revenge for her father
