They heavily referenced my favourite sonic game from when I was a kid, and contender for my favourite video game overall. Raikou may be good sure but it won't automatically be top tier because it's Speedrun viable One of the main factors for it being so good is also that it's over leveled for everything before Claire, which for a Nuzlocke is actually a detriment because of level caps

tangela/tangrowth are pretty generically available in hgss and are really good for misty if you don't pick meganium, gets power whip at 54 in these games and you have the evo before even heading into the elite 4. tangrowth is also a physical tank that can deal back pretty well either physical or special, just make sure it's not out to catch starmie's ice beam and you're fine.
I'm 23, I go see Sonic 3 because it's a good movie and has Jim Carrey doing Jim Carrey things. Not to mention (and I won't spoil anything specific but) there's like, a shit ton of fun references from the games to notice, and it's just a great movie to go see with some friends :) (and it was far more enjoyable than my own HG nuzlocke I am doing, so...)
Just wanted to say that this journey of Jan nuzlocking the vanilla games made me do my first nuzlocke, I did it in FireRed and it was a really fun experience (I didn't want to use rare candies so some grinds were kinda tedious but it was all worth it in the end) The team I brought to the E4 was Blastoise, Arcanine, Vileplume, Golem, Snorlax and Magneton Some of the considerations I had were: 1 - Agatha is kinda free, since every run has snorlax and shadow ball tm is buyable 2 - Electric types do get insane value at this game, imo magneton is peak cause of the steel type 3 - Bruno can be tricky if you don't have zam/mime, vileplume with leftovers got some clutch sleep powders in this fight to allow me to make it deathless 4 - Lorelei is free, both due to overlevel and her moves being sorta bad Overall I found it really fun and will probably do an Emerald nuzlocke next, maybe someday it evolves into Run&Bun, who knows lol

There is like 4-6 fights that are "hard" but there are other fight that you do need like a good mon that knows ice beam or something like that but it helps when you know what mons does that even if its surge. Honestly the sonic movies compared to the mario movie is night and day. And I'll explain a couple of reasons for why they are better from my standpoint at least: * Sonic in the games is usually a snarky individual so that plays into the movie quite well in terms of script * The sonic universe could plug and play into the "Earth" reality quite well especially in terms of the rings so the movie didn't seem quite busy visually whereas the majority of the Mario movie played in the mushroom kingdom. In short, when everything is visually busy, you don't notice the finer details as much since you have to look everywhere. * The mario movies were quite heavy handed from the Nintendo higher ups which meant less flexibility in terms of a script. The Sonic movie team were basically given the IP and were told "have fun" * While not super flashy, I'd have to say the scripts and theme for the sonic movies far outweigh the Mario one. Each one on their own hold their own compared to mario * Somehow the Sonic movies avoided the hollywood wokeness which seems to be preventing the Mario movies from coming out of their box

There is like 4-6 fights that are "hard" but there are other fight that you do need like a good mon that knows ice beam or something like that but it helps when you know what mons does that even if its surge. Even tho its a easy fight its good to know what does it and what doesmt.

Honestly the sonic movies compared to the mario movie is night and day. And I'll explain a couple of reasons for why they are better from my standpoint at least:
* Sonic in the games is usually a snarky individual so that plays into the movie quite well in terms of script
* The sonic universe could plug and play into the "Earth" reality quite well especially in terms of the rings so the movie didn't seem quite busy visually whereas the majority of the Mario movie played in the mushroom kingdom. In short, when everything is visually busy, you don't notice the finer details as much since you have to look everywhere.
* The mario movies were quite heavy handed from the Nintendo higher ups which meant less flexibility in terms of a script. The Sonic movie team were basically given the IP and were told "have fun"
* While not super flashy, I'd have to say the scripts and theme for the sonic movies far outweigh the Mario one. Each one on their own hold their own compared to mario
* Somehow the Sonic movies avoided the hollywood wokeness which seems to be preventing the Mario movies from coming out of their box
