Can you provide some sort of application notes or design tips towards the gadget's internal MOUNTING STRUCTURE that contains your bme_280 atmospheric sensor? Is it just a tiny hole in the side panel of your smartphone? Any protective mesh or sth else between sensor's case hole and the outer world? Any labyrinth to prevent water drop from getting into device?
