Y'know, Sonic would've breezed right through the endless stairs because he technically WAS outspeeding the endless stair trigger, which is exactly how the BLJ is used here in the first place. How is it that he only reaches the top as soon as he accidentally does the BLJ?

I remember my brother passing the Endless Stairs by wall jumping, but in recent years I have been assured that that isn't possible
I think the wall jumping over the trigger sounds much cooler than BLJ skipping the triggger
I didn't even realize that's what Sonic did lol
If Mario can blj up I’m convinced Sonic could manage
There’s an old program that’s let you play SM64 online that has Sonic as a playable character, with unique properties. He uses coins as a ring system instead of health and he even has a spin dash. All Sonic has to do is spin dash up the infinite stairs with proper positioning and he’ll be at the top.
A lot of the time, my speed gets too high and I clip through the Bowser portrait and back into the second floor main room 😅

It's amazing how one cleverly designed part of a Mario game can produce so much spinoff lore related content.
How the endless stair work it keeps teleporting you back down and if you reach a high speed you will break thru the teleport and go to the end of the stairs if you go back down from the end you will be stuck again
in reality sonic could actually beat the infinite stairs meanwhile Mario can’t

I actually think it's really funny if you turn around while on the endless stairs, you realize you never actually went anywhere because the bottom is always right behind you no matter how far up you think you go. Basically, you're running on an escalator treadmill.

I was expecting Mario to appear behind Sonic and push him down the stairs, honestly.
Nah sonic would just go so fast he would break time and space like Mario does and also like Mario make it up in seconds
Sonic didn’t use his Dash Boost that’s why it took him so long but even at normal running speed he would’ve easily gotten up there in less than a second
Too bad he didn't have a chaos emerald. He could have used chaos control to just teleport to the top, but hey atleast he made it.
