    Great video and of interest to me as a longtime S1 owner. I've met Mathew on numerous occasions & always enjoy chatting with him and picking up tips on maintenance and improvements.

    The workshop manual specifies the gap between the central plate which carries the "O" rings and the carb and manifold. Simply adhering to the cap ensures the carbs are mounted properly.....according to Lotus anyway!

    Great videos, I don't have a lotus Espirit, have a 907 in my jensen healey. Nice car the Espirit. Does Mathew have a book of notes and tips he might have published. I liked how he pulled spark plugs wires off to see which cylinders are doing the most work, great tip.maybe he has a site?. I'm in California USA.
    Cheers

      @SportsandGT  Год назад

      Hi - I don't think he has a book but this is what he does for crude balance checking. For finer tuning, he pulls one plug then uses a length of hose to listen to the tune of the air going into each of the other 3 intake trumpets, adjusting the idle screws to achieve the same note - then replaces the plug and pulls another - repeating until all are done.

    Man, i wish there was a good solution besides standard carb maintenence to keep your mind off carbs leaking on to the distributor. Its was scares me when driving mine, so i dont even enjoy the car. may as well just bite the bullet and do distributorless injection bah. Also that backup camera magic piece was incredible lol, so much want

    • @SportsandGT
      @SportsandGT  Год назад

      There’s always 123-Ignition which replaces the mechanical dizzy with an electronic one but the carbs are still there. I don’t know if anyone has made a fuel injection system but take both of these things together and it kind of changes the character if the engine and car. Thank you for watching.

      @@SportsandGT lotus prepared by Claudius has a true distributor less ignition system. Lotus bits has developed a fuel injection kit for the 907 . I have searched but can't find anyone who has bought it. Thanks, enjoy the content

    if I was back in the UK I would offer to buy his white S1. My absolute dream car. I've always wondered if there is room to replace the original 4 cylinder engine in an S1 with a brand new 4 cylinder turbo engine from the Emira? I think the V6 would be too big, would it?

    • @SportsandGT
      @SportsandGT  10 месяцев назад

      Probably room for all sorts - they managed to get a V8 in later on. Whether the chassis etc would take it I’m less sure. 😂

    false air due throttle shaft bearings with play could also be the cause.
