(SPOILERS!!!) I think both games happen at the same time, or this one happens only a few days\weeks after Lone Sails, since at the end of Far: Changing Tides, you find the protagonist from the previous game, waiting at the fire beacon, with the locomotive still split in half
Re:piracy it's important to remember that there's not a 1:1 ratio between pirated copies and lost sales. Some portion, likely a sizeable one, would've never payed out for it in the first place. And re:demos, if demos were turning away sales...well, that's good for the consumer. That means they would've wasted their money on a product they didn't like.

for consoles you usually use capture cards that plug in between your console video output (usually HDMI) and your monitor/tv. there is an abundant amount of info on how to make videos and record gameplay right here on youtube and on google too so I'd suggest you start there instead of a random comment section.
about the pirating thing, its a glass half full half empty thing i guess, since there is no clear way to prove those 50% would have bought the game anyway if piracy wasn't an option.
And where would you even get those numbers from in the first place? Like DL links clicked on priatebay or something? Doesn't seem like a very reliable number to me...
In regards to the water rising and falling between the two games, it looks more like it's just unstable, and different places are changing elevation moderately significantly. The earthquakes and other instability found in both seems to point to that. Lone Sails had you pass hundreds of beached boats and several defunct docks, with signs pointing the way towards the receeding shoreline, while Changing Tides has you passing flooded cities one after another, and boats turned into so many types of houses. It's an interesting contrast.
In only a minute or so in but I thought it was interesting to here your first impressions of the landscape. I watched another playthrough and this person felt that the city/human life was NEWLY flooded
it would make sense, since the protag wakes up underwater. caus if there was a flash flood / tsunami, they could've been washed away, being knocked out and when they wake up realising everythings gone, game start.
In regards to game demos, I don’t have that much knowledge to talk off, but I know that in comparison to other media like movies games spend a LOT more time as incomplete (I.e. not everything is there) compared to unfinished (I.e. everything’s there and just needs to be put in placed and polished). With movies they can make demos WAY before release as they spend a lot of production in and unfinished state as cgi and etc are done, so demos only need a coherent piece to be polished. Game demos on the other hand either need to happen very close to release once the game enters it’s short stint as an unfinished piece, or what actually happens with demos being made out of incomplete games. This could hurt the games development bc the devs need to make a working game out of a heap of broken pieces and missing quite a few, and that could cause the game to look/play very different at launch, often much worse in the demo, so players think that’s reflective of the final game and loose interest, tho this is likely only part of it

The only way to explain why in one place the water has just completely disappeared and in the other it's flooded. Is a extinction level disaster. Aka, the moon is gone, volcanos, tornadoes. Disaster happening all over the world ruining it. Speculation btw, hopefully I'm not spoiling on accident.
I'd love it if someone leaked a boilerplate games pass contract, mainly to see royalties/residuals, or if its more like a one time licensing fee. It would be neat to know how much an individual download helps the bottom line, or if they are mainly looking to sell rights to the game outright and downloads are more about landing the next game.
Hi there, just started playing this 2nd game, loved the first and loving this too. However there is one or two things I can't seem to get my dude to do and I wonder if you could help me. I couldn't for the life of me get him to attach those parcels to the hooks. Could you let me know which keys you used I was pressing w, plus space, then tapped the e key, but to no avail. And also as he is trundling along there is a blue circle at the side of the ship towards the back as you look at it (next to the fire etc) that keeps showing a blue circle and I have no idea what to do with this. Any help would be appreciated. Tfs
i have the same opinion on pirating anime content. I'd love to support the original creators, but I disagree a lot with the (raising) price on the several companies that have exclusive rights to cuts of the anime around. I don't even think the money is going to the companies considering some investments they made. Not to mention a lot of the controversy that has bubbled from some parts. It's not like I've got any other options either.
About the pirating argument you had in this video, I personally download the pirated game before to buying it because i still have a low end pc, so i need to know if it will run ok-ish before i commit to buy it...this only applies to the games the don't have a demo
I 100% agree pirating indie games- not to try and buy later but as a matter of course just because you want all your games for free- is super scummy. These are not devs working for a big multi billion dollar publisher. They are relying on that income to live- and to make their next game. Also its understandable why demo's are not made so often when they take extra effort and may put off as many people as they gain in sales- i.e are they worth the effort for a dev? You can say its good for the consumer if it puts them off buying- but thats not how media works in any other case. You dont get to only pay for a movie if it turns out you would like it. You pay upfront to go to the cinema or to buy the album even if it turns out you dont enjoy it. That's not the studio's fault- (assuming its just not to your taste). Also being put off by a demo might be bad for the consumer in many cases- a lot of games don't exactly sell themselves are reveal how great they are in the opening hour or 2. You could be put off a game you'd totally love if you stuck with it or saw a bit more. The main argument to pirating as a demo is you might intent to- but after you've finished it, how many follow through and pay for something they are already done with? I've a feeling most end up buying it a year later when they see it in a steam sale or something, just for the convenience of having it easily accessible. Which is fine on one hand- but the overall process was to lessen the ammount of money the devs got. And one of the main reasons i stopped decades ago was just how often pirate stuff is full of viruses. Its too risky.

Also, it could be argued that streaming / posting LPs of games is detrimental to sales as I've decided not to buy games based on watching full game playthroughs. I've also decided to buy a game based on watching a playthrough. So it's all give and take, I guess. I'd say poor demos like Monster Hunter destroy sales. Demos like those for Ghost Song and Nine Sols sold me (ok, wishlisted for now) on them when I would otherwise not bother, and I've already bought some Ys games from a demo in the series.
About piracy and indie vs AAA games. I think some ppl simply pirate as a rule. But back in the day games would often be marketed with a playable demo that would lower the risk of committing and paying to most a bit chunk of cash. Now we get gameplay videos, perhaps an influencer getting alpha/beta access, and are expected to pre-order instead. A complete reversal of the marketing really. Understandable, as making a dedicated demo is a lot more expensive especially for an indie studio than simply recording some video, but still.
I need to setup my ps5 controller in steam and have steam running to use it on xbox game pass. There are probably some tutorials on it but there is no reason that it has to be so wonky.
