I have an irrational fear when I actually have cash that it’ll tempt them and they’ll snatch my wallet. Because I either have no cash, or I’m bringing money home from work so I have a lot of cash. If I were homeless maybe I wouldn’t want to settle for “spare change”. Maybe grab and run is worth it? It feels so wrong to say “sorry no change” when I literally got a weeks worth of change on me though. But I also need that change, I’m terrified of losing the whole thing.
I had some similar happen but I gave the guy $10 and some food from McDonald's McDonald's. That Saturday I won the PowerBall and met Amy beautiful wife. The guy used some weird powers before all this happened l.
Personally, I never give people like this cash, because I used to work in the grocery store where all the local beggars would spend their money on beer, but I always offer to buy them food. I've been broke as hell and on the brink of homeless so I know what it's like to be in a tough spot asking for help, if you're actually trying to improve your life you'll take whatever help you can get, if you just want money for beer or drugs you better harass someone else because I have no sympathy for that. I'd say 10-20% have taken me up on the offer for food, and I've given people rides and meals and had great conversations, but unfortunately most people just lie about shit to get cash for their addictions.
But why do you think they’re addicted in the first place? Usually it’s due to trauma and they are mentally ill and self medicating I totally get you but have you ever seen the movie JOKER? If we convinced our leaders to get free mental healthcare for everyone including homeless, it would actually save money and lives.
@@AnimefortheLazymanI could get with this but then I remember tha the whole of history is filled with people, probably the majority, who experienced or had PTSD, even up until recently, child abuse, r*pe, murder, seeing your loved ones killed and slaughtered. I don't know how humanity has advanced as far as it has and why my grandparents didn't become raging alchoholics and crackheads. I'll agree that most of the people living on the street are either drug-addicted or have mental issues, sometimes both. But talking to people and being in that situation myself, a lot of their circumstance has to do with lousy parenting, myself included. But there are people who had lousy parents and they never allowed themselves to become a burden on society and instead contributed to it. And I like the idea of a nationalized Healthcare system but just remember, Healthcare isn't free just like any other government-provided program and a lot of people don't trust the government to use it as an excuse to raise taxes and control what the population does so they can live more comfy lifestyles while everyone else has to wait days to see a doctor to get low-quality exams and dubious diagnoses and then go wait in a line for two hours so they can get bread.
They'll never save up enough money to get a home or address without assistance. So they spend money on something to just get them to their next day. I understand and sympathize. I've given homeless people the last of my own money, even though I'm below the poverty line, myself. I see the homeless, and realize how close they are to me. Without my husband, I would have nothing. I can't work. I'm too sick. I'm both mentally and physically ill. And so are many homeless, if not the majority. I only live through the kindness and love of others. The homeless don't have that kindness and love. I'll give them whatever I can. They can use it on whatever they want. If it's alcohol or drugs, whatever. Have you ever had withdrawals? I've never done drugs, but I've seen others who have. To go through withdrawals, alone, vulnerable, with no shelter to take refuge in... Withdrawals can kill you. They'll use the money on whatever it takes to survive. That's okay by me. It's not like saving is gonna do anything for them. Cops are constantly "confiscating" (stealing) their shit. They can't keep any possessions for themselves. There's no point in buying necessities. The able bodied homeless are the lucky ones. They may be able to eventually escape the hold of extreme poverty and homelessness. The disabled aren't so lucky. Source: Making friends with some local homeless men.
I’m the opposite, I always give them money because I’m afraid they’re going to get sick without the alcohol or whatever. Idk if they’re using the money for drugs, alcohol, or a toothbrush so if someone is coming to me for help, I do it. We’re all equals so I can’t judge.
@@Real.Flowers. EXACTLY. It's just like... "I'm not gonna give you money because you might use it on drugs." "Cool. Yeah, I'm actually physically and psychologically addicted/dependant, and the withdrawals might kill me if I DON'T use money for the drugs. D'ya wanna maybe help pay for my rehab? Or medical care? I'd still need money for that. Can't pay people in bread." "...Um... No?" "Yeah, cool. Guess I'll die." It's so frustrating. 😭 Thank you for holding a similar viewpoint.
My mom and I were in a situation where we walked on a sidewalk with multiple people, in the cold by the way, sitting asking for change. My mom gave her last bit of change to this last guy. He then preceded to follow us and say, “buy me a sandwich.” My mom: “that was my last bit of change sorry.” Him: it is not much. Just buy me a sandwich” We did not like how he was following us in an intimidating way. I never have been in a situation where we had to run because we felt scared of him. Keep in mind, I was young when this happened. It sounds funny, but felt scary at the time.
If only the homeless people around me were this nice, instead mine are running around yelling at themselves and others def on drugs on in a mental health crisis. My heart breaks for them but also they scare me and im not going near them.
Real interaction i had once that makes me feels so.... challenged: Bum: Hey man, you got any spare change? I got kids and[inserts life story] Me: No, I'm actually dead broke right n- Bum: Psh! Man fuck it!(walks away) Me: Wha- NOW HOLD ON I-(oh shit NO I DON'T WANNA GIVE HIM MONEY!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?) Bum turns around to hear me out: Me: I uh.... actually nevermind i gotta go. Tbh i don't feel bad considering the dude was clearly lying about his life story(and if he wasn't i HATE him for letting his kids get involved in his suffering) and he was so quick to jump to a "man fuck you" mentality that i kinda got a feeling he's the sole cause of all his suffering. But it really makes me feel stupid that the back of my brain almost 180'd the front like that(if it isn't clear, when i stopped myself midsentence it's because my kneejerk impulse was to find SOMETHING to help the guy out with, since i felt offended at him getting pissy that he can't just have enough money handed out freely to live comfortably)
One time when I was a kid and lived in a very small rural village, a homeless man was camping in a field at the end of the neighborhood. My mom made him four big-ass grilled egg sandwiches and brought them to him, along with some water. He told her that he couldn't accept them because he was vegan. >.

"I'm not gonna give you money because you might use it on drugs."
"Cool. Yeah, I'm actually physically and psychologically addicted/dependant, and the withdrawals might kill me if I DON'T use money for the drugs. D'ya wanna maybe help pay for my rehab? Or medical care? I'd still need money for that. Can't pay people in bread."
"...Um... No?"
"Yeah, cool. Guess I'll die."
It's so frustrating. 😭 Thank you for holding a similar viewpoint.
When he slapped the gun out of his hand got me😂
Really went from 'stop asking for a hand out' to 'please give me a magical hand out'
My mom and I were in a situation where we walked on a sidewalk with multiple people, in the cold by the way, sitting asking for change. My mom gave her last bit of change to this last guy.
He then preceded to follow us and say, “buy me a sandwich.”
My mom: “that was my last bit of change sorry.”
Him: it is not much. Just buy me a sandwich”
We did not like how he was following us in an intimidating way. I never have been in a situation where we had to run because we felt scared of him.
Keep in mind, I was young when this happened. It sounds funny, but felt scary at the time.
It sounds like that man was an ass.
If only the homeless people around me were this nice, instead mine are running around yelling at themselves and others def on drugs on in a mental health crisis. My heart breaks for them but also they scare me and im not going near them.
Give them a number of a social worker, ask if they have a free government phone.
@@MLBlue30 have you ever interacted with someone on drugs and/or violent mental health episode?
I can't tell if you comment is naive or sarcastic 😂
Real interaction i had once that makes me feels so.... challenged:
Bum: Hey man, you got any spare change? I got kids and[inserts life story]
Me: No, I'm actually dead broke right n-
Bum: Psh! Man fuck it!(walks away)
Me: Wha- NOW HOLD ON I-(oh shit NO I DON'T WANNA GIVE HIM MONEY!!!!! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!?!?)
Bum turns around to hear me out:
Me: I uh.... actually nevermind i gotta go.
@@nignamedmutt7270bum lore story kinda do be hitting tho
Could have been worse. You could have been cursed to live as a beast until you found true love
I always just go for a good old fashioned “I don’t owe you shit.”

Unironically my same ideology 😂
Time to change ideologies.

One time when I was a kid and lived in a very small rural village, a homeless man was camping in a field at the end of the neighborhood. My mom made him four big-ass grilled egg sandwiches and brought them to him, along with some water. He told her that he couldn't accept them because he was vegan. >.
Unless you have a medical reason for not being able to eat something, literal beggars cannot be choosers.
I swear I thought the homeless dude was gonna turn into an influencer doing a social experiment😅
It's the hole in the sock whilst elevating for me 😂
It actually IS hard to get a job as a homeless person. ESPECIALLY in America.
(America is weird thank god I don’t live there)
