I think backwards boosting just needs to be nerfed, to prevent kiting, then they can remove the speed limit. Although my vision for this part is that it mainly enhances AB and QB performance. Before finding this part, I had taken boosters from various MTs and was going to make them AC useable, with each booster having a different thing they are good at, like one that enhances only regular thrust, while another gives nearly 50% AB thrust, but doubles energy drain during AB.
vid op’s right, probably to (somewhat) alleviate kiting since fromsoft probably foresaw this. i’m just thinking i could’ve chased someone down even faster like a rabid dog :3
@@FrotonMechanica but backwards boosting is already merfed???? When hardlocked when ur ac is reverse boosting your speed is cut down by about 50 or 25 points, when softlocked and not facing enemy, basically boosting in the direction your ac faces, there is no penalty
My crack fueled theory is that these were supposed to be found pretty early on, maybe even given to you by walter for a specific mission, kind of like the stun needle and like the stun needle, you get to keep it afterwards. Probably not true, but it would be interesting.
Yeah it really is awesome! I plan to release a mod with this and other parts like the Laser Machine gun and Solid Shields about a month from now, 2 weeks at the earliest.
it really looks like kazutaka miyatake's artstyle for the EPHEMERA parts. although, it might just be another one of the artists trying to match his style since EPHEMERA is just drawn with double AURORA pods in the game's artbook. i hope you're able to find more stuff from the old footage, there's stuff like the long-barreled CURTIS variant and the more conventional-looking pulse gun design that i want to take a closer look at
Yeah, I thought the style was similar to Ephemera, which is why I suggested it's origin being from the Rubicon Research Institute. Whoever the 3D artist was that made this, is truly a master of 3D, I wouldn't be able to match that level of detail and design replication yet. Yeah, Miyatake's designs are really sleek and awesome, and I could see this fitting on the Ephemera frame. I think there might be other parts from the old footage, at least one or two things I saw in there that I didn't see in game(or at least, don't remember seeing.) I did find a very long Sniper Rifle like weapon that had no UV maps or textures, so an incomplete leftover weapon. I assumed it was the same for the part that turned out to be the Back Booster. I almost shed a tear when I saw how detailed and nearly complete it truly was.
Rad. I wonder if this might have been an early plan for how the Karman Line mission would work. There are a bunch of little things that seem like the devs were considering possibilities from previous games - like how nearly all the arm parts seem to have mounting points for shoulder parts, explained-away by the brackets that hold the AC by the shoulders in the garage.
It is radical, and I don't know if they had a different set of boosters planned for Karman line, but judging from the early footage of the Back Boosters in the description, it appeared to have a mechanism that gave the AC something that is a mix between Quick Boost and Assault Boost. Ahh, I never noticed the shoulder mounting points.
So they were working on back booster's huh. I wish they had completed it so it was in the base game as a part not as a forgotten file hidden away. Perhaps if they make a sequel to armored core 6 they'll finish it and add it to the game with new parts. One can only hope. Thank you for this video it was a pleasant surprise.
I want it really bad. I've always seen assault boost as a sort of stand-in for OverBoost, but I've always felt that it lacks that uncontrollable, pushed to the limit feeling it had. I understand why it wasn't added, though. This and a single Werger would be unstoppable force. Dash in>Charge Attack>AB away>recharge energy>rinse repeat Anything that didn't have them would be next to useless.😅
This is so exciting! I've always longed for these Back Boosters to return ever since Silent Line....and not to mention the kind of speeds we got to experience in AC4 and 4A...I hope this gets an official release, even if they have to limit it to PvE.
Another thing to note, is their design is almost identical to the PCA MP Mechs that attack us at the end of the "Attack Fueling Depot" mission. That's probably why they were cut, as they were repurposed as part of the PCA AC models.
I’d allow these as a trade-off back unit - gain ungodly forward speed, but w huge turn radii. They would require both back slots to use, of course, so opportunity cost of less firepower & shields. You could drop them, to regain even faster regular boosting, though.
@@FrotonMechanica My thirst for a DLC that re-introduces some old mechanics like that remains stronk; supplemental boosters, ammo bins, weapon arms, right hand melee... and maybe for AC7 some more nuanced stuff like the stabilizers and sub-divided booster selection
@@dhoffnun if they gave ac7 4A level part customization the whole community would go wild, and it'd be a thing of beauty allowing more actual unique builds seeing how with such limited parts currently we've ran into the problem of everything becoming the same cookie cutter build just slightly varied yet still fundamentally the same. having mechanic altering parts enforcing learning different play styles would be a breath of fresh air again.
Well, somebody took from somebody, RRI had been around 50+ years while PCA came after, so I assumed PCA took some of the RRI tech and incorporated into their mechs like the Ekdromoi. If you mean I'm using an actual Ekdromoi back booster, you can clearly see the leaked footage from an early build of AC6 is using those boosters. Another thing is the model of this booster has a connection point for an AC shoulder part.
@@FrotonMechanicaor the opposite, PCA was there even before RRI exist, RRI is technically PCA property The other explanation why it has edkromol design was probably RRI wanting to test coral fueled jet engine on edkromol design, but this part never went into production for AC, or just being fitted on ibis innards & upgraded into coral drone container AC 6.5 need more PCA storyline, their stuff should have more "stolen tech" name to it 😂
The negative-rat mechs shall commence, the hunt is on! Jokes aside, i can see why fromsoft may not have followed through with this, due to the combat range of AC6, the shoulder weapons, and the fact even melee weapons on the shoulder can be swapped out which singlehandedly makes these boosters less useful for pure melee due to equip slot limits.
Test footage from this game really is something else... Every time a video of it comes up, it almost always looks like a hybrid between AC4 and 5, which adds up with these extra boosters and the wall jumping Reverse Joints would've had. I wonder if those features will return in a DLC/Sequel...
After such a long hiatus, AC6 struck me as a re-introduction (or just introduction) to the series. While I think it strikes a good balance as an on-ramp, I'd love to see more stuff like this in subsequent releases.
It's a crying shame they didn't add these; it's hard to find a good right-shoulder option for super light mechs. What's the music? It sounds like Overture from AC4, but it isn't.
I could try increasing one of the boost speeds like Assault Boost or Quick Boost by up to 100%(x2), but I'd have to increase the cost of it's use by 200%(x3), since such speeds would be impossible for normal ACs to catch up to if the cost increase of the faster AC was only 1:1, without a drawback that allows the opponent a fighting chance, such as the faster AC burning out energy and needing to recharge, it would allow them to dominate the meta easily.
Yeah but if you only equipped one it would look weird and unbalanced. Might be one of the reasons they cut them. And I suspect that giving you more booster options would make lightweight ACs less viable.
It's possible the devs wanted to put a cap on the maximum speed a mech can achieve for either PVP or other reasons. But fuck that!!

The early build probably used this as a placeholder, because it IS the Ekdromoi torso.
