It`s best to VHF radio the operator as you approach. Know what side of the lock your are ,east/west, upstream/downstream and follow their instructions. These men and women are super nice and helpful.
Great heads up Dave! It's a great feeling knowing there is someone out there like yourself that is always wiling to help others enjoy the great sport!!! THANKS, You are the man!
Thank you so much for taking the time and showing us how this works. I am very new to Sailing, in fact I am just taking my first class and I had no idea what locks were and how they operated. I was getting ready to take my boating card exam, and the last chapter was about locks and it wasn't very clear to how they operation with the boats were! Just wanted to give a shout out and thank you, God bless and stay safe brother.
Hey dave, I love these tip videos. Im gonna be bringing my boat down from Indiana for 5 days of Okeechobee fishing in October. These tips are extremely helpful. Keep it up
Thanx for this video.....Going up to Clewiston soon....I'm a Cajun from South Louisiana , grew up on the bayou...but never went thru a lock system so I was wondering about how that worked...your video made me a lot more comfortable with the system....looking forward to going out on Lake Okeechobee soon....Thanx again Captain Dave.....
Never piss off a lock master when you're in a tournament . A tournament on the Mississippi river here in La Crosse WI one guy was yelling at the lock master and he held up the lock for 10 minutes making 24 boats late for weigh in !
sir I have to ask , I live In texas doing concrete and I really need to do more bass tournaments, my grandpa used to do them his names James glenn, but its so hard to find tournaments close to LBJ
Also I wanted to know I’m used to just pitching a worm usually around brush and trees and stuff and I never have much luck , lake George Town is deeper water and it’s hard to find fish
Excellent video. Could have done without the 4 minute intro and just got to the meat of the story. But that entrapment area look filthy as hell. Probably could use a fresh water pump and trash filter. NASTY! Hope you killed it fishing. Nice boat!
This was extremely helpful thank you!

Great video. I was just there about a week ago. Luckily for me, the locks were open the whole time. In and out.
That’s the best time! Fast out and in. How was fishing?

Thanks for showing us how it’s done. Hopefully people will search this out before trying.
Thanks Captain Dave, I didn't know how locks work so this is good to know.
😊 you ride in the boat while she tows you to the water? I do believe this would be quite illegal in Washington state. 😅 cool man. Thanks for the video
Whoa, great video Captain! Very informative, especially for us New Hampshire folk that didn't even know this was a thing!
Was you referring to Scott Martin?
Thanks man. Gota be a little hairy with that many boats in there.
That is a really cool thing to be able to see and understand before trying it for the first time
@Fishing GrubbZ remember us on the Fox River and the lock system haha

You got that right brother...hahaha
That was neat, Dave, been coming down since 2010 and never had to use locks, especially this spring when the water was so low.
Thanks cap , excellent info I can use
Thank you for the video.
I fish the Tennessee river in Alabama.
Thanks.
You are welcome
Thanks for the inside information, I've always wondered how the system works. At 9:12 I sensed a tad bit of Captain Fussy Pants 😂😂
In bigger locks they have a floating cleat that you tie up to just FYI. Anyway nice vid wish I was back down in Florida.
Nice video. ..try the McNary locks on the Columbia River it raises almost 100 feet scares the hell out of you
You told us to hang onto the rope near the buzzer, however, you continued pulling yourself forward toward the lock entry (?)
Dave you boat is way too nice
Good thing Ish wasn't in there with you Dave.
Rumor has it Keith came in very fast before gate closed and knocked ish power pole off.. lol then it got ugly
@@kevinflabouyfishing5739 1 year later I get notification of this reply haha!!
What happened to WEAR a life vest???
You’re right! Always wear a life jacket.

Reckless Savage what was your question bud??
Also I wanted to know I’m used to just pitching a worm usually around brush and trees and stuff and I never have much luck , lake George Town is deeper water and it’s hard to find fish
There's no way I'd take my boat in one of those locks with that many idiots around me.
Roger that…hahaha it was an FLW tournament event…so hopefully the idiots stayed at the dock that day..thanks for watching
Captain Dave
@@ItsaGuidesLife lol I'll be watching more. Just found your channel. Somewhat considering moving down that way from Ky.
Well what tourneys should I look for , what is good or bad baits in deeper water
Other than cranks
Dude drove his boat to the ramp
Thank you
You bet
Thanks, novis here.
I have a 2 day club tournament next weekend out of clewiston any suggestions on where to go? Thanks
Dj Foster me too lol
right now anything 2 or 3 miles above turners heading up above uncle joe's is best
Hey dj, what club is it? Can others join?
FishTales club is called Bass Hawgs
Dj Foster can outsiders join the tournament?
Looks so bizarre because it looks like you are driving your boat on land! 😂
That's a lot bigger than the lock I used to go through at Lakeport.
Tommy Lowe yes it is...but same idea...thanks for checking it out
Awesome intro outro song cant find it any help would be appreciated!!!??
It’s a song that comes in my epidemic sound subscription
When is the best time to come down.
Feb March April
Show us the live scope inside the lock.....
What do you mean???
@@ItsaGuidesLife was referring to what your fish finder shows while in the lock.
