    I have a letter from an ancestor dated april 22, 1940 from 130 Highfield Lake , Southampton. Madge Batty speaks of the air raids. A family member on a ship called the Gibraltar sank and he was captured in the sea and kept as a POW. Says her husbands office was bombed 20 yards away from him

    My grandfather was the Chief Engineer on The Southampton. He did not survive the last battle in January 1941.
