IDL Scheme Fits
4-3 Balanced A 3-Down EDGE built for a 4-3 Scheme. Has a balanced ability to play the run, rush the passer, and is likely considered too slow or stiff to be a traditional EDGE Outside Linebacker who can make an impact dropping back in coverage. Emphasizes: Speed, Strength, Acceleration, Run Defense, Power, Finesse, and Bend
3-4 Balanced | A 3-Down EDGE built for a 3-4 Scheme. Has balanced ability to rush the passer, play the run, occasionally drop into hot zones in coverage, and is likely considered too small to put his hand in the dirt and be an effective run defender inside the trenches. Emphasizes: Speed, Acceleration, Agility, Strength, Finesse, Bend, Power, Run Defense, and Coverage
Speed Rusher | EDGE Rusher well suited for coming off the edge on passing downs, may lack the size, physicality, and technique required to contain his gap in the run game leaving this player as a situational pass rusher. Emphasizes: Speed, Acceleration, Bend, and Finesse
4-3 Hybrid* | Tweener type of EDGE player who excels in run defense but may lack speed or bend around the edge for passing downs leaving this player best used inside the tackles in sub packages. Likely best suited as an IDL for a 3-4 scheme. Emphasizes: Strength, Run Defense, Power, Acceleration, and Tackling
3-4 Hybrid* | 3-4 Outside Linebacker who's largest strength is versatility and coverage skills. Likely doesn't excel in pass rushing but is a versatile piece who contributes by allowing for disguised look and contributing in run contain and coverage. May come off the field on 3rd downs to lack of Pass Rushing ability and not excelling in coverage, relative to traditional off-ball linebackers. Emphasizes: Speed, Acceleration, Agility, Coverage, Tackling, and Run Defense
*Not included in a player's categorization as "Any" scheme fit.
I'm a Texas fan and Joseph Ossai when he wanted to take over a game he really could just watch that Oklahoma state game from last year this man was great.
Bengals got him and Sample. Gonna wreck the afc central
Only top 10 I trust!
Hey Jzach! Any draft content coming this year?
@@BoardandArrow honestly I’m really contemplating it!
Azeez is prolly my favorite EDGE. His performance against Cincinnati was insane. Like he almost won that game by himself in the 4th
All this time I’ve been watching tape and studying players, and somehow slipped my mind that Rosseau was 6 FOOT 7 😅
I’m bought in on Rousseau. The dude is a physical freak with a great work ethic and motor. Dude went to Miami as a receiver I believe. He’s put on 50 pounds, transitioned to a new position, and dominated in his first year. Also that interview on PFF is so so good.
If he bust I’ll remember this comment
@@THEEJoeSmith If he doesn't, I'll remember your reply.
His pro day was terrible
@@andrescaiced4695 I mean 6’7 4.7 forty and best 10 yard split of any edge in the class. We’ve been spoiled with guys like Clowney and Garrett, but Rousseaus “bad pro day” feels like an attempt to validate opinions people had in the first place.
Bengal would like a word with you.
You must love the value for Buffalo at 30! Go Bills!
Been waiting for this as a Ravens fan who thinks we let Judon and Yannick walk!🔥
Yeah Phillips is my #1
I like the pro comp on these guys; truly changed my grading on them!
I think the Raiders will make the change with these Gruden grinder high characters guys and take a shot at Rousseau with pick 17
I have Cam Sample as my 29th top DE going in 7th round. I loved every other player you had on your top 10. I have 1: Rousseau, 2: Ojulari, 3: Paye, 4: Tryon, 5: Basham, 6: Jones II, 7: Roche, 8: Rashad, 9: Perkins, 10: Weaver
Phillips is my edge 1, fingers crossed he gets lucky and avoids injury
Jayson Oweh just moved way up from 9th.
I’m rly liking Rousseau to the Vikings. Put him with mike zimmer. Everton griffin even used to rush from the inside in pash rush downs. Just feels like a good fit
Ellerson Smith from NIU. Killed in Senior week 1v1 drills against top O-line prospects.
Thanks for the info on Oweh
Great video! I was waiting for this. Keeping my eye on Ronnie Perkins in the 2nd round. By the way the New York Jets are running a 4-3 defense with Saleh.
Good point, brain fart by me.
For comparison what was your grade on guys like Chase Young or Myles Garrett?
Wasn't really doing this when Garrett came out but Young would been probably around a 7.40 which would be the highest overall player in this year's class. (I just updated my scale this year so don't have the exact grade on Young)
@@ThatFranchiseGuy Yeah i feel like this class is kind of boring outside of QB. No exciting freak athletes but the WRs are interesting
There aren't any true blue chippers but part of that is some of the best players in this position opted out which adds uncertainty
I think Bachman could be a early 2round pick but I agree with your points
Yessir was looking forward to this
Love these
Good stuff TFG!
He couldnt remember marcus davenports name when talking about how the saints have a rotational pass rusher but he has rousseau's pro comp as davenport. lol
Jaelin Phillips the best pass rusher in this draft
So glad I found someone else who isnt that high on Jayson Oweh. Being an athlete doesnt mean ur gonna be a good football player
Well he’s good now
Happy someone else likes Cam Sample too.
Love the content! Stream tonight?
Great list had the same top 5 just a different order. But I get the reasoning on your top 5.
Mine was
1. Paye (too freaky)
2. Rousseau
3. Phillips
4. Ossai
5. Ojulari
Can you do one Inside DL please ?
Great vid brother just mr Rousseau seems like a 5th round pass rusher to me i mean the tight ends he faced were slouches as well as the coverage sacks 😅again great and awesome vid fam but greg to me 😅wayyy to high and the stats done lied🤣👌👍💖😅
Huge Lions fan here. What is your take on a healthy Julian Okwara?? Do you believe he can be a 10-15 sacks a year guy?
Well he didn't play much so it I'd say go back to this vid from last year to hear what I thought of him 👍😊
I like the list but Gregory Rousseau I just don’t see a high end at all. I see at most a 2nd de for a team like the raiders.
I'm surprised you have Weaver over Pat Jones II!
No Quincy Roche? dangggg
No shade at all love the vids. But what are your thoughts on Patrick Jones, Weaver's teammate? I see on big boards like TDN (The Draft Network) they have Pat higher than Weaver. Again not saying you're wrong about him... what do you see in him?
All I'll say is he's not far behind Weaver
@@ThatFranchiseGuy what would you say about this edge rushing class in general. Do you think it’s deep as say the OL class this year with a bunch of starters/high upside guys?
I think this class is deeper than the last 3 years but not as top heavy
Carlos boogie Basham favorite edge
You should've shown the pictures of the players when talkin about them
Want my browns to draft Paye Rousseau Phillips or Ojulari
Aren’t the Jets switching to a 4-3? Anyway best draft content
Yeah, that was a total brain fart lol
Cam sample doesn't break The huddle report top 27 edge rushers hes not even in the first 188 picks.I'm going to check him out .
Rousseau #1?=O
49ers are watching this video right now lol
Would love if Rashad Weaver falls to the Seahawks in the third round. I would feel really good about that pick.
They don’t have a third
@@hunterellis374 My assumption is the Seahawks trade back out of the second and get more picks
Bengals should definitely target Rashad Weaver
I like rousseau just prefer paye
#billsmafia let’s go Rousseau!
Quincy Roche ?
Joe Tryon?
Clelin Ferrell comp for Weaver?
In terms of position and upside, sure. But Ferrell isnt as powerful and Weaver isn't as crafty
@@ThatFranchiseGuy makes sense
Where’s joe tryon
Philips is edge 1, Rousseau is all athleticism no technique. Ppl forgetting that if he didn’t come back for another year it was between him n chase young for edge 1
All athleticism, no technique, and still dominated college football.
@@Djinn667 you said it urself. College football, don’t try n back a bum
Hamilcar Rashed?
Romeo okwara just was 6th in pressures and 8th in sacks this year so if paye is him at his lowest not bad
Right!
Lmao you never know ronnie perkins could go to a bad coach you never know belichechick gets him
Weaver #10? Not very fast? Did you see his 3 cone time? Oweh #9? Let me guess you looked at the stats but not the film! He is disruptive as hell! These 2 guys are 1st round talents! You are a hack!
😍😍
Ossai is like Leonard Floyd not a strict pass rusher but can drop back as a spy on a good athletic QB aka a 4-3 OLB but his frame and athleticism makes you want to make him into an Aldon Smith player which is what fucked up Floyd and why my Bears ruined him and I screamed that he was a natural 4-3 multiple OLB like Hightower or Collins under that scheme that Bill runs allowing players to run by their strengths is better than forcing them into a role
That's a good comp
Rousseau isn't a top 5 edge in the class incredibly overrated
Earlyyyy
7 likes in 29 seconds. I love how hungry people are for your content Marcus.
Love Cam Sample, easily the most underrated edge in the draft.
Joe Tryon is dope too
@@demariushowe5727 wasn't he more an interior guy?
I believe Joe Tryon is great and may be under the radar. But check him out for yourself, pretty impressive I think.
@@evanbrown9916 UW mainly used him as a stand up edge. He looks like a 3-4OLB to me like old school Steelers but I think if he put on another 15-20lbs he can be a hand in the dirt, speed edge guy. I'm an easy coast guy and didn't watch a lot of PAC12 but I'm high on him after some film. I was kinda surprised he wasn't on this list
Him and Ossia are Bengals now... omg!
Marcus uses a baseball analogy. Me, an Irishman whose never watched baseball in his entire life, 'hahahaha yes Murica.' on a real note tho, loving the draft content lately. Keep smashing it my guy
Sliante!
@@ThatFranchiseGuy spelling slightly off but I’ll cut some slack. Sláinte to u and ur family as well
I was just finished the podcast when this dropped. Great timing
How bout that!?
Really like the list. Love the Oweh placement along with Sample’s. I’ve seen people have Oweh as high as 3 which to me makes no sense. I would disagree with Rousseau though, I really don’t know if he can develop into the player that everyone thinks he will.
Hopefully Gregory isn’t another Clowney
Does it make sense now?
Kwity Paye was a running back in high school. He has elite change of direction skills. That’s why he’s special
👍👍👍
a guy who breaks down his own criticism in an interview? that would be a major breathe of fresh air considering the guy we took last yr.
Love the list. my top 5 is
1. Rousseau
2. Ossai
3a. Ojulari
3b. Phillips
5. Paye (I still haven't seen the upside on tape but will definitely give him another look)
K.PAYE TOP 3 HE A BEAST!!!WISH MY NINERS COULD GET HIM..HIM AND BOSA👊👊
Is oweh here now?
Better than Charley Casserlys mock draft thats for sure. Use that as the measuring stick of quality and you will never make a bad post again
I love Ronnie Perkins. He has the power and ferociousness of a player much bigger than he is. He most closely reminds me of a player like Suggs.
A lot of mock's have the 9ers picking Kwity Paye (sp?) in the first round. I'd rather see them save the draft capital and pick Perkins, who I think has a higher motor.
The ravens still should’ve taken Bryce Huff
And now my bills got your number one at 30, got me feeling a lot better than I did last night. Thanks for the great work.
Phillip's is the best edge in the class imo but I get your point about injuries
Noti gang
I liked where your reasoning was at with Rousseau
Giants fan here... hoping they pick Kwity Paye!! he's nasty, his bend us unreal
Jason Oweh just ran 4.36 in his 40-yard pro-day dash. He has freakish Talent, someone in the Bane of Jevon Kearse. He is already good against.the run. If he gets in the right system, this guy could be insanely good! The coaches who are watching his pro day are saying it's like watching a freak Show? Beast or bust, we shall see.
BILLS MAFIA BOUND !
Rousseau on the Vikings would be such a good fit, with our D line coach and Zimmer as well as Hunter as a mentor
I wouldn't be mad if we take him but we need o line way more than d line right now
Phillips
Paye
Ojulari
Rousseau
Roche
Perkins
Oweh
Ossai
Tryon
Basham
That's mine, I just didn't see it with Rousseau, such a projection. Think Roche is being underrated
I don’t see it with Rousseau but I respect your opinion
Same here. Rousseau might not be a true Edge. Personally,I think he's better at 3-4 DE
Kwitty Paye has an insaneeee 3 cone drill also
👍👍👍
Because true de/pass rushers dont peak until 27 yrs old or so its just not something worth early peaks "unless you know its that guy " . You can obviously get something from them in rotation and some come out of the gate strong but most are just being trained up for someone else .
Agree, I wouldn't take any of these guys until the 2nd rd.
Colts with Kwity 💯💯💯
I can’t wait for the offseason rosters that he’s starting in a few weeks🙂🙂🙂
Great video, hope Cleveland gets Ronnie Perkins, he is a Beast
Rousseau is Trash.. Phillips is the best pound 4 pound
I understand the injuries are a scary but I got Jaelan Phillips as edge 1
Totally fine
@@ThatFranchiseGuy yeah I think hes just the best mix of physical traits, technique and production
love me some Azzez Ojulari. tape is funnnnn, looking forward to that Ossia review on patreon. Love the content man most real analysis out there
Agreed💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Hey love your Vids! Just a quick question: what dont you like about Ossais Tackling (C+), seems like a hard tackler to me on tape.
Nice
Top 10 OLine Please!
You move your head way too much
1st
Im so glad someone else just doesnt see the hype with Oweh. Im curious for your thoughts on Joe Tryon as well, I'd assume he just missed your list
He's right behind Oweh 😅
Do u see the hype now?
I’m not really in on any D lineman in this class. In my opinion there isn’t any D lineman worth a top 20 pick this year... which I know might be an unpopular opinion but I truly feel like this class is very weak compared to most D line classes.
It is weak when you look at the top of the class but the day 2 prospects are good and there’s plenty of them. Really there just isn’t that much between the guys who will go in the 3rd and those guys who will end up being taken in the 1st.
@@jacobdyer355 I agree, I feel like in most classes the top guys in this one would not be 1st round guys in most. I like the depth towards the top end but for teams like the Vikings who always get mocked a D lineman at 14 , imo it makes no sense just due to the fact none of these guys are worth that pick, or really even close to it.
@@jamryan45 Yep I wouldn’t be taking any of the D line guys at 14. The Vikings should be looking at one of the O line guys at 14 IMO. Plenty of 1st round talent on the O line and that fits a need I believe. Though as ever, you should really just be taking BPA preferably at a valuable position.
Here are two mid to late round edge guys to keep an eye out for...Shaka Toney from PSU (actually shows up more on tape than Oweh) and Patrick Johnson from Tulane (not a specimen or freak like many others, but is very talented for being projected so low)
If Paye slips to 15 B Belicheck might grab him - Belichick loves to run stunts with his D Lineman - He also prefers Knights over Pawns as they force your opponent from offensive mode into defensive mode-
Dude, you’re smoking crack if you are going to take Rousseau at the top of 100. Light in the body(~240lbs), tight in the hips, not powerful, has trouble retracing steps on screens and dump off flare routes and you’re betting a 1st round pick that he’ll get better based on Take Payton Turner he has power, length, speed, a better tool set and he’ll be there 2-3rd round.
I'm happy that you gave Rashard Weaver some love! It was a joy watching him and Patrick Jones play at Pitt.
I agree with your assessment of both players too. I wish they had a little bit more speed, but they make the most of their freakish builds.
Rousseau concerns me in nfl because he had so much shoe string tackle and sack production. Can he fall or leap and make those in nfl? If you remove them in his 1 yr he was basic.
