I miss Stella. She was really cool and I like her character design more.
I really liked how she'd be noctis's rival instead of his bitch to fangirl over.
I remember Stella was CGI character which had small to nothing development. We miss nothing.

So you can say it has better CGI too, compare to that DVD that was released 2 years prior to this Blu-Ray! :/ But Kingsglaive did make me watch that FF7 Advent Children Complete on Blu-Ray again, Hell I even Download that Final Fantasy Spirits Within For my PLAYSTATION 3 in HD Now if I can just find time to watch it again.. I don't recall the iPhone, but the Audi was revealed at Uncovered in March. It's even the grand prize in the official giveaway for the game.

Although it didn't change my life, it was good enough to pass the time. It definitely doesn't deserve that 7% that Rotten Tomatoes gave it (c'mon, there are worse things). Also, DEM SPARKS AND SHINY THINGS

I love JRPG's as much as the next person but this is overhyping to the extreme with the promos, a movie, a demo, pre order DLC etc not to mention the delays, rebranding and Square Enix giving themselves a goal of FFXV surpassing FFVII. It all seems iffy at the moment...
You can't blame SE for wanting to hype it as much as they can after the overall disappointment of the FF13 series and how much hype the fanbase has built themselves just because the game's been in development so long. The fanbase are just as much to blame if not moreso than Square, SE's just taking advantage of it.
Garrus -Vakarian True one of the main reasons FFXIII became a polarizing game was due to fans expecting too much only to find out it's was even more liner than FFX, I just don't want FFXV to fall into the same trap (SuperButterBuns vid on "Is FFXV too big to fail?" highlighted this point), that said despite the hate, FFXIII is the 4th best selling (main series FF JRPG) game behind VII, VIII and X so commercially it wasn't a failure, plus I liked certain aspects of the FFXIII series as a whole.
I like that Final Fantasy XIII combat is pretty unbreakable. People say it is just mash A, which at the beginning it is just like every other game. But the combat is so much deeper than expected and it gets quite difficult since you really have to understand the roles and the AI controlling it. Plus it is the most visually stunning game I've ever played. I actually really like the characters and the story. I wish there were more mini games, towns and less linearity but I can understand that the combat and visuals were a huge undertaking that pressed the limits of the system.
It's going to be a while before I get a PS4 but i've yet to play most of the FF games. Looking for 15 because it looks pretty great

I agree, Advent Children will always be the best FF movie and one of my personal fav movies in general...which has nothing to do with my avatar and the fact that I'm a giant FF7 fan (cough cough), but KingsGlaive was good. There are definitely scenes that make me go wtf like with that girl and what happened. (seriously, how even?) but yeah. It also sucks that we never see Nyx's buddy again even though it's obvious he wants to redeem himself at the end which makes me very curious about him.

Jo Al I think her skin and hair feels more realistic now, but it's something about her eyes seriously makes her look terminally ill. They're like, glossy, and the area around her eyes are pale and blotchy. Prompto had the same problem a while back. When FFXV was first rebranded, he looked sick too, but they fixed him thankfully. He looks great now. Idk why on earth they made Luna look like this when she looked so good before.
She changed from the Asian looking anime character in the game to Caucasian hyper realistic in the movie. Maybe the movie was made by Western studio? Maybe/
All I could think of with Nix (Nick?) is Jesse Pinkman due to him being voiced by Aaron Paul. Kingsglaive, bitch! Just take the Star Wars approach instead of fade to black, just do a swipe transition, but mix it up. Do some Spirals, left to right swipes, right to left swipes, top to bottom swipes, anti clockwise swipes. All the swipes. But never a straight cut or a crossfade.
I really liked the big monster in the game. fan fair. and the reveal of the guardians had me squee.
also that fastion. wish it wasn't a good grand for a outfit.
Luna in the movie is modeled after one of the actors who did her mocap. She doesn't look sick: she looks european in cokd lighting.

You don't need to know the details in this film. Everything important that this film introduces is gonna essentially probably be introduced to Noctis anyway either in flashbacks to his childhood or in the present. The game is his story, his pov and, as such, the players will share in his personal understanding of things more than anyone elses.

I second that do an Advent Children blu ray review. I like it myself too but i was shocked to hear the statement that it was a better film, especially when the masses shit on it and hold this one high like a golden turd.
Kingsglaive? It has an abysmal score on rotten tomatoes, 13% in general and 0% for top critics, and on a forum I visit everyone thought Kingsglaive was horrible (some even saying it killed any interest they had for XV).

Unfortunately Kingslaive suffers from not good direction and script. I felt it was too long, go figure. I would rate it 7/10 too. Also, don't watch it on Japanese, it's weird for the lipsync is done for the English version. I agree 100% with this video.

eh i enjoyed it slightly more than Advent Children. the only scenes that i really enjoyed in AC were the big battle scenes. everything else was eh to me. i can't really remember much of AC except for those scenes. meanwhile kingsglaive just seemed more interesting to me. don't get me wrong i like both movies, i just like Kingsglaive more.
Agree heartily on both the unfulfilling plot twist thing and the missed opportunity for badass Luna thing. They hit some of those cliches a little too hard. Still liked the movie overall, though. Great review!

since the hobbit 3 came out i never went to movie theatre anymore cause there isnt any good movies at all. then this came out and i know i had to watch it. i watch it just to see damn god CGI, thats it.

I actually liked the movie. I think, one of the problems here is when we are playing or watching a FF game/movie, it is often compared to FF VII which is wrong. That's why we don't enjoy the movie/game to its fullest potential.

I agree with most of the things you had to say especially about the supporting cast like big fat fats (Nyx's big friend). He was god awful as a actor but all in all I give this a 6/10 just a decent movie not the best but just middle of road. What it did do though is it made me super excited for the actual FF15 game. :D
I think an easy way to remember Libertus' name is to think of the word "liberty", and how he "really lets himself go".
But personally, I was annoyed when he didn't actually cry over Crowe's (blank).
I don't care how manly you think you are Libertus, if Crows really meant that much to you, then cry, goddammit!

Just watched this movie. I thought it was over after the huge action scene halfway in but I looked and it was only half over and I was like WHY!? WHY MUST YOU FADE TO BLACK AFTER EVERY. FRICKING. SCENE. NO MATTER HOW SHORT IT IS!? REALLY!???
All in all, though, I did enjoy the movie (even though I had to watch the credits to figure out who everyone was. Like, seriously? Gladio's dad was in it for five seconds and I don't find out it's Gladio's dad until over an hour later!?)

Advent Children was an upper piece of shit I'll say. A nonsensical excuse of a plot that made no sense and was never explained, the characters suffered from their characterization regressing rather than advance it (and poor Cloud was made into a whinny emo, which he never really was in the game), it was mostly fanservice (the use of the playable characters bar Cloud and Tifa), and overall it was a perfect example of style over substance. The only positive I'll throw is that the Black Mages rock cover of One Winged Angel was pretty badass.

Another great video. I had low expectations for the film but ended up really enjoying it and it got me excited again for Final Fantasy 15. I didn't like Nyx at first but he grew on me by the end. Luna I liked, hit just wish she had done more

the whole "hero" crap kinda cringely reminded me of Snow
It's executed okay, but at the same time, it kind of misses the point of the original game's theme. Zack's death in the original's optional flashback was intended to look like a pitiful and abrupt demise. A stray shot just happening to hit him as he tries to check on Cloud, giving the Shinra mooks the opportune moment to finish him off. It was consistent with the whole "No Hollywood deaths" thing they were going for. Then CC comes along and turns it into a big melodramatic anime death. Heroic sacrifice, blaring pop music, him passing on his sword and stating Cloud is his "living legacy," which is a little self-indulgent and comes off as a wink wink to the audience than actually a thing that made sense to say within that moment, and so on. Just all around messy.
Nyx is just an older Zack Fair
I already know I'm going to love this movie because I know exactly what to expect when it comes to movies based on Final Fantasy: GORGEOUS animation and fantastic fight scenes. However, I feel like if you aren't a Final Fantasy fan and you go into this movie expecting good editing, pacing, character development, and overall cohesive story, then you're probably going to be disappointed. With that said, it'll still be better than the pieces of shit that were Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad.
Oh cmon, did they REALLY need to throw a flag on a character by voicing him by Sean Bean? Just ONCE he should get a continual role!

I hated Luna's look in the movie. Looks too pale, too European. Nothing like in the game. Maybe her appearance and role in the movie overshadowed my feeling towards her in the game. I wan't really moved when... You know. Without spoilers... But I was much moved to the condition of Ignis after the Leviathan fight.

Wasn't called Fabula nova crystallis? or something like that but yeah by the time FXIII-2 came out Sqnix abandoned the concept heck Type-0 was a JP psp exclusive until the PS4 port but even the PS4 remaster and FFXIII LR couldn't salvage that mess the ship had already sunk. Let's hope FFXV doesn't disappoint considering it is too big to fail...

Kidwoohda I kinda liked it but the fan backlash plus Lighting returns been a good but heavily flawed game pretty much sealed the fate on FNC, which is kinda sad since Sqnix put a lot effort into the concept oh well.
I am so ready for Vanille to be the secret boss.
It wasn't set in 13's universe, it was just based on similar concepts of the Fabula Nova like Lcie, Falcie and goddesses, but even those were supposed to be completely different, similar to Type 0's different interpretation.

The ending of Kingsglaive was so sad and depressing, I thought if I played FFXV then I would get a happy ending, but no, ending of FFXV was even more sad :(

The immigrant dislike is basically because other places except the capital is in war zone and they evacuated there. The original residences are unhappy (being crowded, job, resource issues, dif culture/way of life) and hence the racism/bias. I think it makes perfect sense.

That's some bad advice. I think Kingsglaive is the best primer possible for the game. WAY easier than saying 'just play the game for like ten hours'. Watching the movie definitely had me invested in the world much more quickly than I would've been otherwise.
And Luna isn't made out to be helpless. If anything she's irrationally the opposite, because of her devotion to the gods.
Now that it's all complete (as it's gonna be). FFXV as a multimedia experience is all about showing you different perspectives of the events of the world, and when you put them together you have it's truly epic story. Lots of people don't like that, because they want things to be as accessible as possible, but I appreciate the ambition of it.
I like the movie. I think it did fall short on some of the plot points that it introduced. Like that most of the kingsglaive are refugees. The prejudice that the refugees face is barely touched upon, but it is there e.g. how that gate guard treated Nyx like shit. And the fact that the kingsglaive are elite soldiers is in stark contrast to the fact that they all live in the *slums*.
Why would *elite* soldiers be living in the slums? So despite being able to use the king's magic, there's still some very strong prejudice against them. Which is really messed up considering the peace Insomnia enjoys is in part thanks to the Kingsglaive.
I think that was a good story point that was completely glossed over. Lucius is presented as the good guys against the "evil" empire. But it's not all sunshine and roses in Lucius. Lucius has its own prejudices and issues that reside there.
So for that reason I like Nyx. I think his refugee status gave him a strong base for a great back story. Square Enix just dropped the ball.
But in all honesty it's only a 2 hour movie.
