We traveled this year with 2 Kids (12y & 7y) 14 days to greece (Athens + 2 Islands). Everything was packed in 2 Osprey 40l (Farpoint & Fairview) incl. the Farpoint/Fairview Travel Daypack, 1 Fjallraven SKULE 28 & 1 small Backpack from Tatonka (15L). As organisation we had 6 Packing Cubes from Peak Design (4x medium, 2x small), 4 Shoe Pouches (no name, from Amazon), 2 Osprey Drysack (14L + 20L), 2 Tech Pouches (1x Bellroy Tech Kit, 1x no name) and one (old) Toiletry Bag from Nomatic. And guess what? It was great 😎 Thanks to the Pack Hacker team, without your videos and blogs we would be chanceless 👍👍
@@fallinginthed33p We flew once with Ryanair and once with Austrian Airlines, but absolutely no one was interested. I think the trick is that the backpacks aren't too overloaded, so you're not suspicious 🤷♂
@@ricoko9119 Compared to my Bellroy Transit Backpack, which I use for business trips, the Farpoint/Farview were very comfortable. But we only had the backpacks effectivly on our backs for a short time, i.e. maximum 30-45 minutes (eg from the plane to the taxi or from the gate at the port into the ferry). For this reason, I'm not sure if I can make an accurate statement.
I wish Pack Hacker paid more attention to "weight" when comparing backpacks for one-bag travel. Backpack weight can make all the difference on airlines with 15 pound carry-on limits. Even when you don't have to deal with weight restrictions, carrying a lighter backpack has clear advantages. Light weight is the primary reason I use the 2.1 pound Tom Bihn Techonaut 30 in halcyon fabric. It enjoys a 1-3 pound weight advantage over most of your best One-bag Travel Backs of 2023. For me that is a big deal. Weight may not be the only consideration in one-bag travel, but it is an important one.
@@vbesedke Actually, it is very easy to open the laptop compartment. The laptop compartment is separate from all other pockets and compartments in the Tom Bihn Techonaut. You simply unzip a YKK zipper to open the laptop compartment.
This channel has changed our travel life for the best. The one bag travel is the way to go it's all about organizing and travel cubes are live savers. My wife loves her Aer bag and believe me she did fight in the beginning and we your help with some great videos she does not leave home without it.
I recently bought the Farpoint 40 for the possible extra space of my usual carry on: The Osprey Porter 30. The thing was that when I opened the Porter 30 and the Farpoint 40 side by side I didn't notice much of a space difference in their main compartments except the Farpoint was slightly longer. I think the reason is because the laptop sleeve intrudes into the main compartment on the Farpoint where in the Porter no other compartments intrude on the main compartment. I've traveled with the Porter 30 and depending on how it's packed, I can actually fit it under the seat in front of me. The Farpoint is slightly longer so it probably won't fit under the seat. I like the Farpoint I just got, but truthfully if I knew how the laptop compartment intrudes into the main compartment I probably wouldn't have gotten it because it really isn't giving me the extra space I thought it would to justify the money spent when I already owned a Porter 30.
I traveled to 40 + countries and one of my favourite bags is Deuter trans alpine 30. Yes it might be a bit small for someone but in reality it’s enough. I love it. It lasted me 11 years of almost every day use 😮.
Traded my aer TP3 for alpaka travel backpack and couldn't be happier. Yes the small pockets on the interior COULD be annoying, but i only put gear in there I need access to once my clothes and stuff are pulled out, or i store a backup cable or two in there and lesser used dongles. The bag is excellent and packs down when not full to be used as an edc bag
I love the Farpoint 40!! We traveled through Europe and it was great on the fly being able to switch from Backpack to briefcase style on to go (literally while I was walking). I also being able to cover up my locks with the side straps. Bright green on the inside makes it easy for seeing of my stuff too. Lastly, it is super comfortable. I have worn it for hours with no complaints
My Gregory Tribute 55 (40 L travel backpack with optional 15 L zip-on day pack) is everything. Even fully loaded i barely feel the weight (unlike my Son's Osprey). It has a wishbone inner frame for support, a suspended mesh back panel for airflow, and extra thick padding on the straps and hipbelt. It is woman specific, has an adjustable harness, and of course opens clamshell. I absolutely love it! Plus it includes a 3-in-1 raincover. 👍
I recently picked up the Cotopaxi Allpa 42L Travel Pack for a 6 week trip to the Philippines in November/December. I got a deal with it that included a free Luzon 18L Del Dia backpack.
My eBags TLS Motherlode (now the Mother Lode Travel Backpack) was excellent for 11 days in Italy. Then it became my one bag for every trip since then. I see it's available now for a lot less than I paid for it in 2019, now about $100. What's right for one person, might not be ideal for someone else but for me, I give it 5 stars.
I'm surprised the Cotopaxi Allpa 42/35L didn't make the list. I've traveled all over the world with the 35L version over the past few years and couldn't be happier with it. I chose it over the Osprey Farpoint. Maybe I need to revisit the Osprey.
The Allpa is amazing! I've done 2 weeks in the UK and a 10 day trip in Chile with my 35L plus tons of travel stateside, I've turned my whole family onto Cotopaxi/Allpa's!

Always good to have more budget-friendly options. And not everyone needs separate laptop and admin pockets, which add weight and reduce main compartment capacity.
I have compared the Evergoods CTB35 and CTB26 side by side and personally i prefer the CTB26. The CTB35 is taller and looks bulkier when its fully packed. Also, its easier to put the CTB26 under the seat if the overhead cabin is not available due to full capacity in the plane. For some airlines, if you are carrying a sling bag, it's not even counted as a personal item which is a plus

The laptop compartment placement in the old version (away from the body) was silly. The new version is a big improvement, if only for fixing that. I do wish it had proper water bottle pockets, though
@@kismet8010 I have to disagree. That laptop placement moves the center of mass away from the body, making the load less stable and less comfortable. Not to mention offering less protection to the laptop inside. Putting the laptop against the back just makes sense. There's good reason it's the de facto standard for backpacks. The material used seems nicer to me, and the adjustable harness is another improvement. I don't see much lost in the redesign, actually. I think the only thing that might have been better was the bottle pouches, but I don't think they were especially good in the old version either. What do you feel was lost?
I purchased the original Osprey Fairview a couple years ago. Very comfortable harness system but I dislike the lack of organisation and waste of space for the laptop compartment which I don't use. Just bit the bullet and spent $$$ on the Tom Bihn Aeronaut30 which I've been eyeing for years, praying the backpack straps will fit my very short torso.
travel means size and weight. but you seems to ignore weights all together. a pain to go check for every bag when u can simply say it (dont forget the metric system and KG) thanks

Properly packed, it can hold enough for a week...maybe ten days. Best of all, it only costs $28!

CTB 35 is 💪🏼
No cotopaxi allpa???😮 🤔😢
Hi I like so much your reviews for backpacks! Can you do one for Stubble & Co The Adventure bag? Thank you!
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll pass it along.
@@PackHacker hi, when can we expect the review of this backpack? Thanks
Somebody needs to do a video on a list of backpacks that fit a 40oz water bottle
Solid video thanks!
is 45L enough for a 2 month work remote trip through Thailand and Phillipines?
It all depends on how you pack! It should be 😃
Still waiting on the LTT backpack review
The first version of the farpoint was the best.
I was just looking at mine with gratitude. It is so great
The laptop compartment placement in the old version (away from the body) was silly. The new version is a big improvement, if only for fixing that. I do wish it had proper water bottle pockets, though
@@cbunn81 it's a minor gripe for how much was lost with the redesign
I'm looking a backpack that is waterproof, lightweight, durable and has a capacity of 28L to 30L.
Sad to see that my favorite backpack, Thule landmark 40L, didn’t make the cut.
How To Get This Bags In India؟
Tell me what you want ! But if you need to walk a lot nothing is better (in the carry on category)than Osprey farpoint 40
Modern dayfarer v2?
So what's the cheapest?
Which is the best 40 or 45 litre backpack to purchase in 2024 ? Or top 3 backpacks 2024?
travel means size and weight. but you seems to ignore weights all together. a pain to go check for every bag when u can simply say it (dont forget the metric system and KG) thanks
My go to travel backpack is the YOREPEK Travel Backpack, Extra Large 50L. It's rugged, water resistant, has a USB port and holds lots. I've used it for trips to various countries including NZ, Singapore, Indonesia, Philippines, Canada, France, England, Amsterdam and the US. Properly packed, it can hold enough for a week...maybe ten days. Best of all, it only costs $28!
I don't get the appeal of roll-top or cinch-top backpacks. I would always be worried about things falling out.
thanks Tom
Thanks for watching! 😃
What's with the disposable cameras?
They're fun 😃
@@PackHacker I didn't know they were still being made. Seems wasteful.
I think that the amount that is being charged for rucksacks and backpacks is extortionate , these firms must make a fortune for these bags , many of which are produced overseas with cheap labour and manufacturing costs
Who has tried the tropicfeels?
thank you
Thanks for watching! 😃
oh if i can put my passport in there its a must
Arc’teryx Assault 30 can do it all and the rigid frame fits a typical back profile like a glove. Buy once, cry once.
Thanks for sharing your insights! 🤙
