I know it's late but still want to say, as a Vietnamese... WELCOME TO VIETNAM. Btw why no one tell me the Majestic Princess do comes to Vietnam. That should make a beautiful and awsome sight to see. (Comment on Jan 2nd 2021)
The cruise line provided a "landing card" which we had to show the authorities when getting off the ship. The first day of the cruise the crew members took everyone's passports and gave them back at the end of the cruise, and I'd imagine that's how those cards are created.
Hi, were there any cars/taxi for hire at the port for a day to Ho Chi Minh? If so, do you have any idea on the cost? Also, did you have to get a number and wait for to be called to get off the ship at this port or you could just walk off without any waiting? My Princess cruise charges $80 per person just for the transportation into Ho Chi Minh and back which is expensive for a family of 4 for us. We are thinking of hiring a car/taxi at the port for a day to do this but not sure what is available at the port. Thanks.
I do not remember seeing any taxis- only buses and shuttle vans for pre-booked tours. Princess did offer a free shuttle to a nearby town but not Ho Chi Minh city. We actually booked the whole day tour (with Smile Tours) for pretty much the same price per person as what you say Princess is quoting for just transportation to and back from HCMC. There was no numbering system to get off a the port- it was a line that formed pretty early, though disembarking was pretty speedy.
Thank you for the reply. For Smile Tours, I was quoted a higher price per person ($100) for a family of 4. However, if I could get 3 or more people to join, then price would be around $85/person. In your video, it appears that you were getting on the bus for the tour. Did you sign up together with all of the people on that bus to get that cheap price or the price you received didn't require a minimum of people?
Yeah what I did was go to the Cruise Critic roll call ( www.cruisecritic.com/rollcalls/ ) and then I found fellow guests who were going to be on our cruise. Then I contacted Smile Tours from there and they added me to an existing group. So try to do that, but if the groups are full (or no one has started one), you can ask to see if people want to join the tour group you just started. Good luck!
@@TravelTouristVideos if I cruise to Phu My VN , I don't want to use tours , I just walking out and my family in VN they will pick me up and I'll go with them all day untill I go back to the cruise , I can do that ?
For us it was from 7 AM (when ship arrived- though we didn't get out until 7:30 AM if I remember right), and everyone had to be back by 5:30 PM. So That would be about 10 hours.
I do not think they will be allowed to drive into the port area- you might have to walk to outside the port area which could be a long walk. Your cruise line will probably be able to tell you for sure. On our Princess cruise there was a free/inexpensive shuttle to a Phu My shopping area and that might be a better place for your family to pick you up and drop you off.
I've noticed all communist countries requires a visa (extra $65 for them). Europe doesn't need a visa. Same with japan, Hong kong, Australia, Bali, Singapore. But communist countries, like china & Vietnam requires a visa. My ship, NCL star, was supposed to stop in Saigon, aka HCMC in Jan 2017. But the ship broke down so we skip this port. Was gonna totally surprise my long lost relatives.
Yeah if you are from the USA like we are, there is no agreement between the US and those countries for visa-free travel. For instance I think UK and some other European citizens can travel to Cuba without a visa while US citizens have to get a visa, though cruise ships now will take care of those for guests- just need to pay the fee.

What tour company did you use?
We used Smile Tours.

Yup I'm sure that's fine. Just be sure you have the right time and get back to the ship before it sails.
please tell me how many hrs we can stay in Phu My

haha one short visit to vietnam by cruise ship is enough and never come back again
made me a little seasick.....
was ist denn das für ein Ramschvideo ?
