- With Ahmari Huggins-Bruce reportedly leaving the team and reenrolling at Louisville, and Nyck Harbour not projected to start is it time to start panicking over the Wide Receiver room? Chris Marler tells you why the answer is a resounding no. We discuss what his transfer means for the receiving corps, 2024 offense, and what he thinks it means from Shane Beamer.

Lets be real here. Huggins Bruce joined the program BEFORE we got a ton of other (better) WRs in the portal so suddenly he realized that he was going to be below the 2 deep roster. Not a significant loss at all... As for Nyck Harbor, he is a longer term project. He is new to the WR position and has pretty damn good hands but needs time to learn the nuances of route running... I think he will get there and be a great contributor eventually. As DL said in his press conference - WR will be "by committee" at least early in the season. As a matter of fact that is probably a good thing since WRs rotate and take breaks a lot due to so much running - it will keep our guys FRESH. I am optimistic about the season at this point on both sides of the ball.
Fun fact - since Beamer became the HBC we are 15-3 when we rush for 100+ yds as a team... With the depth of the RB room and the ability of both Sellers and Ashford - I believe we should be at 140/150 per game this year... Make of that what you will.
Finally, as a 65 yr old 2nd generation Gamecock, I devour content devoted to the Gamecocks and when you use clickbait titles like this one, it REALLY turns me OFF. I want to follow and support your channel but that kind of hyperbole is just off putting when we haven't even played a game yet. Not trying to tell you how to run your business but that's just my take because I see that title and immediately know better...
I think our offense will be zone read option with our tight ends being the #1 passing target, and slants to the slot receiver.
Dowell already said “Run Pass Options are out of the equation.” They won’t use the option, not as much as they have recently. If they wanted to cause a fuss they would apply the ol Clemson Triple Option. Unmatched. You stick to play action and use the TE’s inside and edge, never outside and let the receiver play deep and sideline. Seems easy but in this day in age where every body and their cousin uses RPO “cuz NFL does🤤🤤” it is going to cause massive confusion and it will add to many interceptions this season. At the cost of defenses slipping up and letting the TEs get open and just gently move down field with a few up the gut runs from 🚀 and a few deep balls to a few WRs and watch that scoreboard run up!!!!!!!!
BEING FAMILIAR WITH ELLIOT AND OUR PERSONNEL, I LOOK FOR A LOT OF READ OPTION IN GOAL LINE SITUATIONS. I THINK EARLY IN THE YEAR , OUR PLAY BOOK WILL BE SKINNY WITH AN EMPHASIS ON EXECUTION. HOPEFULLY WE'LL BE SO GOOD AGAINST SOME TEAMS THAT WE CAN RUN THE PLAY WITH SUCCESS EVEN IF THE OPPOSITION IS SOMEWHAT PREPARED. WHAT I DON'T WANT IS A COMPLICATED MESS WITH TURNOVERS AND LOST YARDS. I DON'T WANT THE MARCUS SATTERFIELD OFFENSE.
@wordnerd2005 I totally agree 💯! Elliott is great 👍 when it comes to Zone Blocking. (That was his Forte as an Assistant Coach under Spurrier) Loggins hands were TIED because of thier lack offensive lineman due to injuries. (Which is why people thought Dowell was Too Pass last year) He didn't have much of a choice. But they're STILL gonna Struggle this season. The schedule is just Too difficult.
Don’t forget DJ Braswell who did some good things toward the end of last year.

People probably don't comment about ads, but I just used Gametime to buy tickets to the ODU game and they are awesome! Great pricing and customer service is incredible! I will say that maybe they’re not starting Harbor vs ODU & saving him for Kentucky. He’ll play some in the ODU game I think but maybe that’s a strategy. 🤷🏻♂️
If he doesn't start, it's because the coaches think we have a better option.

Multiple sites updated 8/24 have Nyck Harbor starting ,but not Jared Brown. Im betting it will be by committee.
Rocket is going to explode, but so will Adaway. This RB room is stacked!! You know this because the top three are Rocket, Oscar and Jawarn, and yet the coaches continue to talk about how much Braswell and Fuller have impressed. I also liked Larry Scott during the spring game. Guy had great vision. The room is completely flipped from last year! A very deep committee now!
Film I’ve seen on Harbour he looks slow in and out of his routes. I still think he should go back to defensive edge rusher. I think he’ll be wasted at WR.
Nyck should be featured, he arguably is the fastest player on the team
