He’s almost 60 years old in this video. And this is one song out of an entire set. Night after night for months doing this for hours. It’s amazing.
His posture, so relaxed. Every strike is perfection. Head held high, he's not even looking at his kit.
I about wept when they performed this back in October.
In this video, after Maynard belts out Eyes Full of Wonder, and Danny rips into his last solo absolutely grinning, you can't help but feel that same sense if joy.
Danny is definitely the best drummer alive. Not to take anything away from him but before Danny there was a drummer named Neil Peart. Like Danny almost every song is a drum solo. Check out Neil's drum solo from Frankfurt. That is a bad ass drum set

Danny Carey is not the best drummer alive. I've seen better technicians in college jazz bands. What makes him unique is the collaborative effort with the other members of the band.

@@BTPGumzTV just go to your local colleges band website and follow their programs. when Danny Carey isn't touring with Tool or in the studio making new albums, you can find him playing improvisational jazz in bars all over LA. jazz drummers are amazing.
Neil Pert was amazing but consider this. His greatest exposure came from a drum solo (or two) that he never repeated. Danny Carey has people hyperventilating over him playing a song. A song that he is currently playing on tour, every time. The closest Neil got to this was the song “Tom Sawyer”, and that song g is nothing compared to this. Respect to the greats, and much respect to Neil Pert, but…… What most people declare a “drum solo” for Danny Carey is just a song.

drum roll at 5:50 is amazing consistency when increasing intensity. amazing stamina for this one.
Knew you’d drop your jaw when you saw this. Ticks & Leeches is another showcase of Danny’s drumming, and 7empest is hailed for its guitar work, rightly so, but Danny also kills it in that one. But, if you want to hear the song Danny himself calls the most difficult Tool song for drums, it’s The Grudge!
He says the Grudge if he isn't in tour shape b/c of the endurance needed. Otherwise he says trickiest is Invincible or 7empest b/c he isn't as used to them. I just watched a short of him talking about it. I recommend any of them. lol

Danny (and Tool) are the best! For another live drum cam of Danny check out the live drum cam of Triad (the enhanced version). It's an older video so not as good a video quality as this one but he is absolutely amazing to watch . See if you can spot where he breaks a stick and grabs another without missing a beat! ☺️
The dude in the back with spikes is Maynard James Keenan. One of the best things about tool is that he doesn’t care about being front and center. They shine as a group, MJK not too fond of obnoxious fans also. A great trait if you ask me.
Dude was in his 60’s when this was recorded. Take that in for a second. Makes me want to go to work on my day off just to not feel lazy✌️

Danny has to be up there, , check out the drummer from Animals as Leaders (in fact the whole band are CRAZY) he is on a technical level of someone like Danny, not sure he quite as distinctive sounding , you can tell Danny is drumming on a track very quickly. He does things in a very particular way. Best Drummer in the world? possibly, I am yet to hear anyone better and anyone I like more

Danny Carey is one of those musicians whose instrument is an extension of his soul and his being. Dive into Stevie Ray Vaughan or David Gilmore of Pink Floyd for the guitar equivalent.

Danny does make few minor mistakes in this one. But you REALLY have to KNOW the song to catch them. 😏
When you watch the Frankfurt, Neil Peart drum solo keep in mind, in the second half he's playing 3/4 time with his feet and 4/4 time with his hands. 😳🔥
