I love Burmese pythons. I had a great friend in high school who owned an albino BP, and he gotten her as a hatchling had owned her for 12 years. On Friday nights, 4 of us would watch TV sitting on his couch with her draped and crawling all over us. She was so chill and friendly. His father had built her a HUGE enclosure, and this awareness of needing a big enclosure was in 1990!!

I've actually noticed that handling the big animals like burms, it's a lot more relaxing and more enjoyable than handling a corn even though I am a huge advocate for corn snakes lol because I think they are the absolute best first and overall best snakes as pets for most people! They always eat and the temperature requirements are really easy to meet in a normal household lol. And I've bred corns for years but handling a big animal especially a big male Burmese is a really nice and not as hectic as trying to keep up with a corn snake lol

Really enjoyed this vid. A lot of keepers might scoff at kingsnakes and cornsnakes but i gotta say, after i got all my major dream reptiles, i still came back to the popular "starter" reptiles. Yeah they may be common, but they're popular for a reason. I probably get just ad much enjoyment out of my rat snakes as i do my big constrictors.

I would love a burm but I live alone and am on the less physically fit side so wouldn't be able to handle one on my own.
Instead I'm looking into a boa constrictor as they typically don't get larger than 10ft which is honestly a lot easier to handle, though this is going to be like 20+ years away as I will need to move to a larger home to accommodate it as I don't have space in my one bed flat for a 12ft viv.
I am planning on getting a female ball python in the meantime once I'm back in work and can afford a second snake.

Touching back on the monitor thing, another good alternative if they're less set on the aquatic thing and more set on the monitor thing, would be ackie monitors. They're like the bearded dragons of monitors, very easy to "tame", very hardy, and you get all the intelligence and interactive behavior from having a monitor.

I didn’t expect the number 5 here. More the fact how perfectly it sums up my snake decision. I originally wanted. Burmese because of their size(I didn’t know their chill nature) but since learning an adult is recommended to have two people present and at this point idk if I will ever not be single, I decided to rethink that. A Burmese would flatten me just by me trying to handle it as an adult most likely. So I got a ball python instead. She’s doing good so far though and I have no complaints
