My daughter is a palliative care doctor here in Ireland, I am so proud of her and the wonderful care that she gives her patients, I feel she may have been influenced by a beast cancer diagnosis I had when she was in her teens, though I don't know that for sure. She was 4th out of 235 when she graduated medicine in college and could really put her hand to anything in medicine as she really works hard at everything, even the things she dislikes, but the caring aspect of palliative medicine is really her to the core. She was very close to her granny (my mother) and was with her when she passed away, again a spiritual experience that may have also had an influence. These people are saints, when so many in medicine these days are in it for the wrong reasons (I also work in a hospital).
My dad had a cough for 2 weeks that wouldn't go away, it turned out to be throat cancer. He has never smoked. Luckily they caught it early. He is still here thanks to insisting on proper care rather than being turned away and sent home.
RIP Dana Charles Reeve (March 17, 1961 - March 6, 2006)(aged 44) you will truly be missed and she was diagnosed with lung cancer and she had never smoked. My prayers and thoughts goes out to everyone out there that are going through this and I am sending you my love.
Thanks to Crohn’s disease and intestinal cancer, I’ve been there three times already, yet somehow I survived, but my heart goes out to every single person going through palliative care, because I know how incredibly upsetting and depressing it can be, but I also know it can be a time of joy, because it unites families like nothing else. I know that sounds crazy, but the thought of me dying was the only time I ever got all of my family together at once, and there is nobody arguing or fighting, is generally they don’t get along, but they put aside their differences to spend time with me, assuming I was approaching the end. Well I approached the end three separate times, and literally by God‘s miracle, I pulled through and survived, each time the cancer disappearing without a trace, each time my family getting closer and closer, and now that I’m healthy I also have a family love each other again, and realize just how precious life truly is. I don’t know why my time will come, as I’m living on borrowed time as it is, so I live each day as though it were my last. If you don’t believe in God, at least believe that severe illness has a wonderful way of bringing families together, because even in the most horrible times, something good will always come of it. I don’t want to die because I’m only 50 years old, but I’ve been flat line when I was 21, 25, and 41, and I’m still here, I call it divine intervention, but what ever you choose to call it, is indeed a miracle, because there’s no way I should have survived, I think God every day for this extra time, and I try to make the most of it by being with the people I love most, and I helping those going through what I have three times now, and try to give them a little hope that anything is possible.
I'm sorry for your loss I can relate as I lost my wife to cancer in 89 She had beaten Hodgkin's disease But after 3 years she ended up with a high grade sarcoma in her spine She passed 7 months later She was only 31 I'll never understand lung cancer My brother-in-laws mother smoked since she was 14 and lived to be 91 I do understand that not all lung cancers are iinked to smoking
Don Dressel I know. That’s what I am saying. I bet she or her husband got asked if she did. My wife is fighting lung cancer and I get asked a lot..” did she smoke?” I find it rude.
Some lucky people just don't seem to have the potential for lung cancer written into their DNA. The only way to find out if you are one of those people is by smoking regularly over several decades. Of course, by the time you find out the truth of the matter it's too late to reconsider...
@@DONALD1951: Tell them no. Never. Then they'll learn to stop blaming victims. If they get cancer that young maybe they had a parent who smoked or there was something toxic in their environment or they were heavily baby-powdered as a baby. It could also be a bad gene or lack of a good one.
I live alone but my son and his wife send me a lot if daily pictures or clips of my two small grandkids. They live far away so helps me as I die from cancer. No need for them to be near and just be cremated with no funeral. They will have to sell my house but anything they get is fine. Been sending grandkids money for future schooling already.
the types of patients that need prozac are the pedophiles and serial killers. maybe it'll enhance their mood so they don't rape and murder. how about you take it so you can enhance your mood and avoid writing such a seriously stupid comment?
Also smoking causes many other cancer...stomach pancreatic etc. smoking contributes to these and others but nobody asks if the person smoked. Lack of knowledge and ignorance.
@Vea Brookings That's what I thought. God doesn't exist. Even if there's a "creator", this creator is not what is described in the bible. It's not all powerful, all knowing or all good.
I understand the anger. However, is Sovereign above all. He allows everything good or bad with a purpose and also for his perfect will. We may not understand why, but we can rest assured that he is incotrol. One day we shall understand why. May the peace of our risen Lord Jesus Christ be with you.

Oh poor man. It is beautiful to see that kind of love between two people. So tragic that it was cut short :(

So brave, my mum died of lung and brain cancer when she was just 45 years old, it was awful :(
20-25% of people that get lung cancer never smoked. Incorrect stigma attached.
So sorry for your loss especially at such a young age.
DONALD1951 Seconhand smoke is what really kills.

That's sad. I'm sure they did almost everything together. Then when the lived one passes, people learn to fill in their lives differently.
❤
Aww thats so sad
My two friends died from cancer, and they never smoked cigarettes
These type of patients need to be given Prozac. It is not just an antidepressant, it is a mood enhancer...just what cancer patients need.

Sorry bro !! That’s gotta be rough. Shes with god now.
Very very sad.
Its in the food
Dying is some crazy ass shit it's unreal
Sound lack of, so no go for me.
Good luck.
Like, even though your lungs were hosed (and you were doomed) you were absolutely gorgeous (and will be missed greatly). You go, girl!

DONALD1951 she didn't smoke
You can still get lung cancer if you dont smoke
DONALD1951 they ask me about smoking every time I go in..
She should have been putting herself to work instead of worrying about a damn cough. Look it cost her her life
what an ignorant comment maybe you should take your own advice. idiot.
