Untethered Tatami Gaeshi and untethered cross up Youzansen both have follow up combos in 2S - Kabari, which is not only great by itself, but it's also a much better spot to use an RC than using it straight from the special. Tether Potemkin isn't particularly dangerous compared to the other characters. Baikens back dash will beat pot buster but will also leave them airborne low enough to make both HPB and his other grab miss. Which is great because backdash S let's you challenge his normals while also setting up for some really ambiguous pressure on block if they don't challenge it. He is a threat when your too close to backdash, but when you get the tether from a throw or when Pot blocks S Kabari, you have a good setup to exhaust the tethers time span.
I’m convinced the rope is Arcsystemworks response to players who still want the old instant airdash. The strive instant air dash might have nerfed her but now she has a rope

Baiken's crazy rope stuff is only compounded by the combo maker. Characters are going to be so much easier to learn and new characters will find their crazy stuff so much sooner. I'm rambling but I'm just hype for mario maker: GG edition.

Not only after throw does baiken get tatami safe jumps, but a lot of grounded combos that end with the claw rekka can give you air dash tatami safe jumps as well, meanwhile she literally cannot be safejumped because you can't safe jump a frame 1 parry! That shit is so strong

The mechanic is very interesting, but symmetrical effects like this (I’m assuming it’s symmetrical unless this video proves otherwise) in fighting games often have a major downside; the character with the special move or property is probably balanced with the mechanic in mind while enemy characters aren’t. So…. What’s stopping an enemy character from abusing the mechanic BETTER than Baiken can just based on design alone? My immediate thought is that Ramlethal block strings are probably a lot nastier when you *dont* get pushed back. f.S>HS normally is the end of the block string, but does Baiken’s rope let her get more? If so, that’s already one scary scenario. Edit: Oh god, that Leo combo. Aight boys, back to maining the Valentines. I ain’t want none of that rope.
I did see today while playing it’s possible for Baiken motor to both have ropes at the same time, but in the heat of it didn’t see if it amplifies the effect, could be some shenanigans if so
Haven't really heard it yet. I usually can only hear the music when I have the volume blasted near max cause I have permanent hearing damage. I'll give it a listen at some point though but I doubt it will ever top her classic momentary life theme
I found out yesterday that if you backdash while attached you will be able to do areal moves. Didn't find any real good way of using it but just wanted to throw it out here.
I played Baiken in ggxx and xrd rev 2 (not online or sweatily), but this version of Baiken is easily the most fun fighting game character I've ever played. I absolutely love how good they made her this game. Poor Goldlewis is going to be light retired.
3:31 when I try to do this cross up the mat misses because it's too far from the opponent. I'm gaining momentum whenever I do the mat move which I'm pretty sure is causing this because you don't have as much momentum when you do this cross-up. Anyone have ideas for why this is happening?
3:49 any tips on doing the tatami because I can't get it to land on top of the character, it always goes to the side and I think my fingers are quick enough, unless they aren't...
Gotta be quick. However you can do the superjump version instead of the motion 2369 then hit kick. Its much more forgiving than the manual jump than do the motion version
Bah I can't do the tatami crossup as my buddy keeps just grabbing me when I land before the tatami does. But the yonzansen crossup! 80% of the time it works all the time baby!
Hey Rooflemonger. Whenever you do a combo guide for Baiken, do you mind putting them up into the combo maker on PC as well? It's just so much easier having those ready and with a visual guide as well.
Honestly with the launch stuff making so many videos and all the other videos I gotta work on, making the in-game combo stuff just isn't really a priority for my time right now. I am sure people will have tons of good stuff anyways

I happen to be a ky main, in floor 8. I’m pretty mid but I’ve so far I’ve been using the mentality of Baiken players against them, I think it’s because the characters fresh! Regardless I’m excited to see the evolution of her game plan

tiger knee it. after the throw press down then do the quarter circle forward kick then immediately jump forward a bit.
