Before finding the actual title of the song, I was once supposed to watch a RUclips video, but this song came up as an ad. Instead of skipping the music video, I just kept watching until the end. The lyrics caught my attention on how simple the message it was, reminding how Disney fooled us with unrealistic expectations about love. But deep down, it's really complicated. When I think about Disney, it gives me nightmares. When I think of Disney Princess films, not only it gave me bad dreams, but these films gave me extensional crisis at an early age.
This song perfectly explains my struggles with media and perceptions of "normal". I've embarrassed myself by trying to imitate the things I've seen on tv and in movies, such as putting notes in peoples lockers as a kid and mistaking feelings for crushes. Because of what I had seen on tv shows, especially on Disney channel, I felt that I had to have a crush or a boyfriend to be normal, despite what I was seeing in real life.

Before a couple months ago I was very mad at Disney for one main reason. Movies like sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Snow White etc always make the princess have to be saved by the prince but in reality we can fight for ourselves. I don’t only feel this but lots of famous people like Salem ilese also agree as she made a whole song about this. Little girls grew up under the impression that they need saving. Girls can be as strong as boys. Only a while ago Disney started making movies like Mulan , Moana, and Raya and the last dragon where the girls characters end up saving the day. Disney, you have done well.

Alloromantic normalities in society, the romanticism of the media and general Arophobia shove a message that romantic love is far more superior than platonic types of love down our throats when in reality, this is a myth perpetuated by alloromantic media. That's why I'm so happy to have this song because - to me - it just perfectly describes what Aromantic people go through on a daily basis. It may not seem like such a big deal to Alloromantic people, but to Aromantic people (with no media representation unless the character is also asexual - which is usually compared to robots and extremely inaccurate), it really is a big deal.
