  • In this episode of Cheap Family Travel (www.cheapfamily...), Nick, Regan, Maggie, Kate & Cousin Nina took in the views of New York City from the "Top of the Rock" in Rockefeller Center. The Top of the Rock offers amazing 360 degree views of Central Park, the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, Times Square, 432 Park and all of Downtown New York. Compared to the 86th floor Observation Deck at the Empire State Building, 30 Rock is less crowded because it offers timed tickets and a larger observation deck. You also get an unobstructed view of the New York City skyline with the iconic Empire State Building right in the middle of it. Your best view is from the 70th floor because there is no railing or glass to look through.
After visiting the Top of the Rock, make sure you leave time to explore Rockefeller Center. You've got to see the lobby murals, the Atlas Statue, the United Nations flags, the recognizable Prometheus Statue, and the most famous ice skating rink in the world. You may also want to stop by the NBC studios and Radio City Music Hall. The 22 acres is just how John D. Rockefeller Jr. designed it, "a city within a city" and a center of art and commerce.
You can purchase tickets at the Top of the Rock and entrance is also included on CityPass tickets. Cheap Family Travel had a great time at Rockefeller Center and we totally recommend a stop at 30 Rock.
