the point is, youtube takes measures to mitigate that. Copyright owners can take stuff down immediately, or have auto content ID. Megaupload knowingly had tons of copyrighted material, and did nothing about it until it was asked to by companies. I'll quote from the lawsuit, "Infringing users did not have their accounts terminated, and the defendants "made no significant effort to identify users who were using the Mega Sites or services to infringe copyrights, to prevent the uploading of infringing copies of copyrighted materials, or to identify infringing copies of copyrighted works"". Not banning repeat offenders is kind of dumb
The way they arrested him had absolutely zero class. Seriously, counter-terrorism unit with attack dogs and rifles? The dude was fucking wealthy banker/tech guy you really think he was a threat? Shame on the U.S. DOJ and shame on NZ police, they just wanted to make an example out of him
I remember MegaUpload. It made me sad to see it shut down. There was only an FBI notice on the website when you loaded it. I'm a little shocked to hear all this. I had no idea.

The problem is not file sharing services used to share pirated material but those that store that outside US so it cannot be spied.

so much rampant corruption from the industry is why i stopped even watching a lot of hollywood movies / tv, combined with the way the us government had illegitimately handled this case. I am glad megaupload wound up coming back in 2013 though, i still use it to this day :)

I'd offer some constructive criticism tho. You could make a clearer distinction between facts and claims made by somebody. For example, the 4% of the internet quote from the megaupload music video is mostly speculation and likely exaggerated. It would have been nice to have a "claimed by megaupload" or similar.
Aside from that, great content. Keep up the good work and I see a bright future for your channel!

I have followed this story since day one even though I was only a teenager when it happened but look at tiktok today tiktok has so many people reuploading clips of copyrighted shows and movies at a pace that is insane they can't keep up with it but yet they aren't shut down yeah tiktok faced a ban because the american far right feared that people would be educated on the law but it's still here, but Kim should have never had to deal with any of this shit and megaupload should still exist to this day
