The gun and the power seems to erase the training. Most of these folks are mentally ill and/or homeless or stupid young kids on drugs or drinking. It's county jail, it ain't Sing Sing. I've been driving for rideshare for about 9 years. I've had multiple dealings with overzealous security personnel. Mall security one time tried to tell me I couldn't pick up an Uber passenger.... At the rideshare area! Another incident with store security where he came over to me and told me I couldn't park in the loading zone.... While the passenger was putting her purchased goods in the back of my vehicle. Another incident where I was rolling slowly at the front of a store looking for my passenger. Security comes up behind me, parks their vehicle, runs up to my vehicle, tells me to stop, and then tells me I can't park where I was stopped. I looked at her and told her I wasn't parked, that I was picking up a Lyft passenger. She tells me that it looks to her that I'm parked. I responded by telling her that I was not moving because she told me to stop. My passenger, a manager at the store, approached at that time and told her to stop harassing me. This incident is probably one of the nastiest I've had. I was picking up a couple from a large store. As the couple got into my vehicle, a security officer pulled up to the front of my vehicle and turned on the high beams (no, he did not flash them, he turned them on) of the security vehicle blinding me and my passengers. The police were called, and my dashcam footage showed that the security officer lied about asking me to move my vehicle. Some security officers are good, but there are a lot of bad apples that are effectively ruining their reputation.
So let me get this straight. Essentially a guy got brutally GUNNED DOWN, and obviously widowing his wife of 30 years, by a security guard acting like he's John Rambo, who lawfully shouldn't have been carrying the gun in the first place, over a bunch of stupid pallets that Lowe's had given permission to take in the first place? What a disgrace, and an absolute waste of life!!
Unalived? Not a word. Un- is used to minimize the meaning of things- ie “1984.” This man was murdered, killed, terminated, slaughtered etc. ego over life this is truly a strange old world.
A person can be in fear for their life and not experience fear. Being in fear for one's life is just another way of saying they recognize the possibility of being killed by actions taken by another individual or by circumstances present at the time. It does not have to be actual fear or being scared' it's just the knowing that death is possible at that time if counteraction is not taken immediately. For example people that have had near death experiences many times say that they did not get scared until AFTER the incident was over, yet they still thought they were going to die. During car crashes, tornadoes, explosions and other incidents that happen very quickly some people will react to them with a clear mind and not panic, but then a short time later, and sometimes hours afterwards when the adrenaline wears off and they've had time to reflect about their near death experience, that is when they get scared, shake and sometimes even cry. The human mind can do some amazing things when survival instincts kick in instantly, but sometimes getting scared isn't one of them. Some people remain calm. Firefighters, police and military personnel do it all the time because of training and past experiences teaches them to remain calm but be just as aware of the possibility of a deadly outcome. Of course there are also those people that do nothing but scream, panic and run around in circles when faced with the possibility of death. Yet, you might notice that there are also those people standing right next to them that remain calm and handle it much better. Some people are just built differently.
Do you not understand that being in "fear of your life" doesn't mean you are scared, it means that you are in a situation that you believe could end with you dead. Not defending this guys actions at all because he's obviously in the wrong for escalating and whatnot but you can absolutely "fear for your life" but not be scared... Having military training etc can make it so you aren't scared and don't let your emotions override your judgment but you can at the same time be "scared" that if you don't act first you can lose your life.
@@slayer8actuali can agree with what you stated because i was an EMT as well as a nurse in Florida Department of Corrections, however, the majority of the public that aren't in the medical field, armed services, or anything of the like would have a difficult time relating to what you posted.

Tells detectives he wasn’t scared when he shot the guy.
Claims self defense at trial saying he was in fear for his life.
Great job Mr Rent-A-Cop.
He's a psychopath.
All rent a cops are jokes! They can’t be real cops so they play one

Rest in Peace to Freddy, seriously. This is so unfair and uncalled for in the guard should have got fired before this even happened .
The guard is such a creep. I hate armed guard creeps. I was tryna call corporate on one the other day, because he like impedes on my personal space by talking to much and saying stuff thats not obvious enough for him to get fired but its still harassment tbh. And it's like as a female I naturally want to de-escalate the situation and you know be agreeable and be friendly until I can get back in my own house.... But it's getting to the point where he's on the clock , and I say that meaning like when people are at work they usually have self like preservation or ... Professionalism. It gives me anxiety and I shouldn't feel like I'm walking on eggshells around him anyway. The first day we met, I ran up to the door -but in a goofy way , like not running in the store i walked once I got through the door -because uber is timed. Once inside,he asked me who I was running from and let me know that he had a gun on him while he had a flirty look on his face... Like him having a gun is sexy. PORTLAND, Ore. - A jury on Monday awarded $20 million to the family of Freddy Nelson Jr., who was fatally shot in a confrontation with a security guard in the parking lot of a Lowe's Home Improvement in North Portland in 2021.
The guard, Logan Gimbel, was convicted of second-degree murder last year and received a life sentence in prison.

As a former armed security guard I can say for certainty that this was a security guard on a power trip. I've seen some come and go quickly from my former company for being hostile, aggravating and escalating a situation (Thankfully never shooting though.). I never once pulled my gun on someone. I did however have times when I was in a tense situation where I simply backed off and contacted local law enforcement to deal with a situation. I knew my role was to observe, report, and protect only. This wasn't a case of protection, and the security guard in question only escalated a situation that should have been dealt with in a much different manor. He deserves his punishment.

Before attending the police academy, I worked for a security company. I was amazed at how many security guards actually believe they are police officers.
My ex was an army vet, he saw no active service but still regularly used it to get out of road rage tickets. He was trying hard to become a police officer but they wouldn't let him in because of how many of us (his exes) got restraining orders after stalking us. He idolized the power that comes with a badge and became a security guard before being fired from too many security companies due to behavior similar to in the video. He works at a post office now which is actually worse because it gives him access to too many locations he shouldn't have. There's not a lot of point to my post except for don't trust someone just because their a security guard or officer. Last I heard he was trying to get in to the police force through our states capital because for some reason that one station doesn't do thorough background checks and once you're an officer there for a year you can move to any other department in the state without needing the background check. I know there are so many great officers out there, I know a few great people in blue, but it's terrifying how easy it can be in some circumstances for a monster to get a badge.

According to the requirements "applicants must complete the panel interview, background, & polygraph investigation, medical/psychological evaluations & meet other requirements for certification as a peace officer set by a particular state's Peace Officer Standards and Training Council (POST)." I can't imagine any state capitol not running a B.G. check on their officers & I'm sure they do a Homeland Security check as well. I'm in nursing & had to undergo all of the above except a poly & psychological exam, so I can only imagine what they're required to undergo just to become an officer with the state capitol.
If there are more like this guy in the video, going to their handgun seminars and courses, learning to quick draw, etc. Practicing to stand ground. Start learning how to make lighters out of batteries, how to sneak smokes, matches and tea, how to build a makeshift water boiler, you will need these skills because you WILL be sentenced after firing and landing your shot. Even if you claim being under effect, like this fool did "tunnel vision", what will end up happening is that your interviewer will stop talking, get up and walk out the door, and a different, far more experienced detective will come in to question you. And believe me, they know how to unwind the narrative from "under effect" cases because that's what they specialize in. So if you think you are smart and can away with it, think again. There is an understanding in law of "tables being turned" where you can easily go from defender to attacker, and those 40-50 year old judges, lawyers, jury won't understand what you might have to explain when rationalizing your position. They are untouchable. So to all these John Wicks that train for self defense or to excersice lethal force, just stop now before it may be too late.

"I wouldn't really say I was scared" - that was 100% the line that sealed his fate. Even police officers have to fear for their life to warrant deadly force.
