To clear things out, this is basically EXO'S feelings of what has happened to them. The memebers disappearing represents them drifting apart, chanyeol is fighting suho to let him know that whatever happened was not his fault and he shouldn't leave. kai dancing is his way to avoid and free himself from the troubles. d.o is in the car angry at all that happened, sehun represents what we see on the outside and inside and what they are searching for. At the end they all connect with each other again and bring back that bond that broke. The whale represent the 52hertz/ lonley whale, the whale let's out a "chorus call" thay can be heard from miles away, it's a sad tune the whale sings when it's lonley. It fits with exo because each memeber drifted away but they heard each other calling and came back. That's why at the end kai gets up and runs back with a whale behind him, representing that they have once again found eachother😢 I cry so much, exo why??

The whale & astronaut theory behind theMusic video is amazingly deep and beautiful.
A lot of people say the whale and the astronaut/space concept did not make sense in the Sing For You MV, but it actually has a lot of significance.
The whale concept was derived from the a whale called Alice aka ‘The Loneliest Whale in the World’, who is an unidentified whale species, being the only whale emitting a call at 52-hertz.
The astronaut concept was derived from the story of the astronaut who spent 48 minutes in his spaceship and coming back saying that those 48 minutes were the longest and most loneliest of mankind.
The combination of these two concepts placed within the MV discusses being away from home, being somewhere unfamiliar(since the whale and astronaut is in space) and being isolated. Isolation was one of the themes in the mv.
The song and the MV seems to talk about how everyone, in their lifetime, would meet a low point where they feel most isolated and most out of their place, but that this song (and EXO) will be there to warm their hearts.
Also there is another Concept inspired from "PLUTO" & and it's satellite "CHARON".
CHARON has a dark splotch (like a Whale) and the heart-shaped area on is found on "PLUTO". They are not included in the solar systeme, because there is only 9 planets in the solar system. It seems that those 2 planets Represents EXO & EXO-L (fans) because they both can't be separated.

One of the theories was that the MV was based of a story called The Astronaut's Whale. The story is basically about a whale who lives alone in space and one day he befriends a astronaut. The whale felt that it dodnt belong in space so the astronaut took the whale to the sea where the whale finally felt like it belong. They parted ways but promised each other to remain as friends and to be there for each other. The whale could represent Kris, Luhan and Tao and the astronaut as the rest of Exo... the whole mv is about how they were once happy but began to go through many hardships making them feel upset, lonely and caused them to drift apart... the fight with chanyeol and suho is probably chanyeol trying to tell suho to stop blaming himself because it's not his fault. In the end they overcome the hardships and the pain and are able to live happily together again like before

This refers to The Whale Concept and the Whale Poem. Alice, the loneliest whale on earth and Michael who spent 48 minutes in space coming back saying it was the longest and loneliest 48 minutes ever. That car DO's driving is a Japanese car called, "Whale" XD plus the poem is about a whale and astronaut who meet each other, the whale is lonely and follows the astronaut, then both realize where they should be. The mainland and sea where their loved ones are. All in all, YEEeEeEAaaAAaAaAaaH.

I think it has to do with a poem called the astronaut's whale. it is about a whale who feels lonely and an astronaut. they become friends and go to space. then after the whale's exitement about being in space runs down and starts feeling sad and lonely the astronaut helps him understand that he probably feels homesick and that he belongs in the sea. they part ways but remain friends in the end.

JRE is killing me, I'm dying of laughter.
In the first part, you can see the members being happily together, then it showed how they disappeared one by one. When Kai appeared alone in the bedroom, I knew it's him reminiscing that past. Kai witnessed the members fight and disappear one by one, so him smashing the mirror is because he's mad that he didn't do anything about it. Kai is full of regret and loneliness. When he ran towards the car, there's a whale behind him because he represents a lonely whale. In theory, a "lonely whale" is a lone whale in the ocean that sings to call for likeliness (whales are known to "sing" as a form of communication). Like a lonely whale, Kai felt alone after losing people in his life. The video then showed the happy moments again and the whale seeing an astronaut. Kai running "back" towards the car is a way to show how he realized how important those moments were. What does this tell us? Always treasure everyone who is around you and with you because no matter how cliche it may sound, you never know what you have until it's gone. You may experience obstacles together along the way, but never give up on these people because "no one is truly alone in this world" - which is shown by the whale finding an astronaut scene.
So how is it related to the song? "Sing For You" is about a person courageously confessing things he normally wouldn't say to the person he loves and treasures. So basically, both the music video and the song are trying to convey the same message - know how to treasure all your loved ones, know how to value them.
PS. Why the space? Well, "space whale" is apparently a thing. It's a sci-fi myth related to the space being referred to as an ocean. They probably incorporated the real lonely whale theory to the space whale myth because it fits Exo's concept. The whole thing isn't totally random like you all think.

basically what happened is that this entire song is about lost friendship. it seems as though something has happened to jongin, possibly that he died, because he is the only connection between the members. this is seen when he catches the ball that minseok threw, how his moves mirror chanyeol and suho's fight, his running towards kyungsoo's car, and the whale appearing behind him. the members blame themselves for whatever happened to jongin and therefore, live in the past (all the members disappearing), and don't meet again. sehun is the one who is most affected by this because of how alone he is out in space, and the symbolism of the lonely 52 hertz baleen whale. in the end, the members start to forgive themselves and the past becomes the present once again. this is also shown by how sehun meets the whale at last. the song is really sad, but it intends to give hope for something better.

I think the theme is that they are always together, so if someone is gone, not there anymore, they become sad. I feel like this is more for the member who have left. Its a song to tell the three member how they felt. Last christmas, they were all together, now those three are gone. Its never the same anymore.

it's about Kris, Tao, and Luhan leaving, the scenes where chanyeol and suho where fighting was suho was blaming himself for those 3 members leaving, and chanyeol tried to tell him it wasn't his fault, suho out of anger hit chanyeol and chanyeol in sadness tried to snap suho out of it by hitting him, kai was alone because he felt that nobody liked him anymore he thought he was alone, and when you said he was "dancing his emotions off" it was actually him taking hits from things he thought where true, such as fans hating him, sehun was in space because he's been feeling alone as well, the whale represents the fans, so sehun won't be lonely anymore, kai running towards the car was he wanted to be seen he wanted to be noticed. Exo said they where sorry, they didn't want Exo-L to be sad. I even cried yesterday while watching the video.

And then it becomes sad and everyone starts dissapearing, this is about KrisHanTao leaving the group. And then Suho and Chanyeol is fighting, Suho is the leader and Chanyeol is the happy virus of the group. It's kinda like saying "LEADER GET YOURSELF TOGETHER!" because he was broken down from KrisHanTao's leave. And Sehun found the whale which is EXO-L and he realized that we, EXO-Ls always look after them and will always support them through hard times and will always be there for them, anywhere, anytime. That's why the members appeared again and they all seems very happy once again because they realized there's EXO-Ls who will always be with them no matter what, and because they are grateful to EXO-Ls, they decided to show their appreciation and sing for you (EXO-Ls).
