Externally, as based only in looks, I find Eugene to be incredibly attractive and sexy. As in his personality, he's so funny and gives me a tenderness kind of feeling. We know he's a perfectionist and it's hard for him to accept any kind of help or physical affection... so he's my kind of people. Join me Eugene, we can be together and not hug.

Very few people think they're sexy. Like, we all feel sexy sometimes, and we all have moments where we're feeling ourselves, and most people have somewhat of a realistic gage of their attractiveness (like, most people know if, on a basic level, they're "pretty" or whatever.) But very few people believe that on a universal level. Like, embodying "sexy", for people in general, tends to be something like being very attractive to a large group of people - someone that many people want to be with. It's hard for an individual to see themselves in that context. We all only have the context of our self-perception. Many people might think they look good to themselves, but not feel so confident in their looks in the scheme of the world/the views of others. So, I think that's what Eugene means when he says he doesn't think he's sexy, or think of himself as such. He knows that he's attractive on a base level, he knows what he looks like, and how he feels about his looks. But he can never see himself through the eyes of society, and therefore may have a hard time viewing himself in that category of people. It doesn't hurt that he was bullied - even for his looks - when he was younger.
That actually hurt my heart.
For the longest time, I thought I could never be attractive, just because I wasn't white.
Notice how Eugene said that he never saw himself as sexy RIGHT AFTER he talked about the media portraying Asian males as a joke.
The media is really powerful. It can hurt.

+Truth Teller wtf, maybe that's just the way he feels, I get told I'm intimidating based on my looks but I don't personally feel that way, it's an internal thing, don't think you have the right to go off on people because of the way they view themselves.
I can definitely see why he thinks that way. I mean, until recently, Asian men were not portrayed as sexy or attractive. Just look at some of the representation that he grew up with, most of the Asian men weren't/and still aren't regarded as romantic interests. We're not him, so we can look at him and see how gorgeous he is; a lot of people, no matter how attractive they are, can't see how attractive they actually are because they're too in their head and only see imperfections.
+Aesthetically Pleasing same, people tell me I'm beautiful and while I can see it sometimes I get really self-conscious other times... it truly is an internal thing.

Go Eugene! Represent! For all the people who are worried about him being fired for this, dw he won't. The other Buzzfeed members that did get fired were because they didn't ask permission ahead of time which makes sense. If a record company owns a singer, that singer just can't sing a random 15 secs solo for another company without permission and paperwork done first. Pretty sure Eugene is not that careless, being a perfectionist.

Not saying this as a joke, honestly at school at work wherever you go there are "the sexy one(s)" and Eugene is one of them and I think buzzfeeds audience just...accepts that... And him saying that he doesnt see himself that way seems so weird because he acts to confident.

Seems irrelevant since your Asian most white men praise you and will probably give you jobs and you will befriend them...lots of Asians talk about discrimination but if you think about it they tend to fit in as opposed to other minorities
This isn't about comparison to other minorities, all minorities are being discriminated against. And yes, on the grand scheme of things, someone will always have it worse than you. But that doesn't make what you suffer from any less than what it is. I hope that made sense lol.

Their contract states that they aren't allowed to be involved in other productions other than Buzzfeed productions, unless they have been given consent.
He is a very talented man. Very intuitive, a deep thinker, a great showman. He shouldn't be limited to Buzzfeed.

TBH I live in New York City and I've grown up with asians mostly Koreans, Chinese and Filipinos and they're all creative in different arts like dancing, music & drawing etc so I've always looked at asians as being creatives.

This puts everything in another light. It is really admirable that the content he produces and the way he carries himself in his videos is one of his ways of helping other Asian Americans and also other minorities to be comfortable in their skin and to know that they aren't limited by the roles that are societally subjected to them.

i see so many people in videos with Eugene in them asking why Eugene hasn't left buzzfeed yet and how he's too good for buzzfeed and like honestly, that's none of our business? he seems content to be at buzzfeed and doing what he's doing and growing as an artist and individual. maybe he doesn't want to make specific kind of videos like Safiya or other people who have left buzzfeed to do their own thing. not everyone wants the same things from their careers and the same direction in life.
