He is still the best striker ive ever seen in the octagon the way he moves and the precision of his strikes is as good as it gets. Everyone in the ufc wanted to see him fail they hated the fact that he came out of nowhere and took over in away that no one thought possible. Their will never be another fighter like McGregor.

You know that's something he practiced specifically for this fight. probably saw when cowboy goes in a clinch he rests his head high on the top of the shoulder and left it open. You are right Jonathan, It's not so much a matter of Cowboy being 'Over the Hill' as many are saying, it's more about Connor getting his focus back and shaking off the ring rust, showing that he HAS RETURNED and has overcome getting submitted by Khabib and ready to compete for Championships again! Now what I would like to see is that Connor has worked on his ground game and improved his cardio and stamina because that would make him a more complete fighter and he will need that to go along with his precision striking in order to beat the best like Khabib, Tony, Masvidal, and Usman.

By now it is very clear that the comment section of Chael's videos are the funniest mma forums out there ... especially when the titles mention "conor ..."
The shoulder shots and the use of the dirty boxing/clinch in that way was something special to witness, Id never seen that before. it was highly effective ...only thing close i can think is Shane carwin Vs Frank mir and those short rabbit-like shots Mir took.
It must be the cumulative effect of the strikes adding up quickly that causes the concussive damage. If hit by a just a single shoulder strike I don't think it would be foreful enough on its own, to have such a catastrophic effect. Cowboy looked like he couldnt shake it off, after them shoulder strikes landed, he had a look on his face and reacted like he just got eyepoked , he was confused for a second like a delayed dizzy spell that was totally unexpected.
I also think 100% Cowboy was still rocked from the shoulder bashing when he threw his high kick.
When cowboy himself got headkicked and backed up and then began to fold over and cover up , McGregor hit him with this left hand shot , first left hand thrown as cowboy was going down, and it looked frighteningly powerful.

Let's say the fight went a little different and Conor got taken down off the first takedown the worked his way to his feet with some slick grappling.. then gets stunned with a head kick and while stunned land the left hand KO. That fight would have showed everything it woulda showed Cowboys no slouch and his head kicks are dangerous it woulda showed that Mcgregors grappling is good enough to get off his back against Cerrone and it woulda showed that McGregor can finish his opponet when facing adversity. Couldn’t agree more the next challenger (Tony) consensus deserving next challenger after that (Gaethje) last fights were both against Cowboy. So why is it that when McGregor fights Cowboy suddenly Cerrone is no longer a top level fighter. Conor just got a lucky shot to finish it early if not I think it would’ve gone 2.

No one looks good when they ain't on. Conor is definitely one of the best striker, especially because of his precision but there is nothing like being the best and at the same time turning hot & cold.

He lost to Nate because his cardio was GONE and basically begged Nate to submit him lol, and then after 2 years of not fighting, drinking and doing coke all the time, he lost to the BEST grappler and wrestler in the lightweight division who is undefeated, but with actually real skilled takedown defenses, prolly better than anyone else whos fought Khabib. That was an extremely slow and lethargic McGregor tho. Conor has undoubtedly been working on his grappling and ground game and I think the rematch with Khabib will be an extremely different fight, not sure if different champion, but much different fight. Conor looked unbelievably strong and sharp at 170, throwing his weight around like he was at lightweight, so I cannot wait to see how he actually looks once hes at 155lbs. His hands and feet are going to be way faster than any other fight hes been in.
