In 2021 this video is still relevant! THANKS so much for making and posting your video. Getting those two tabs pulled out was definitely "challenging", but I would not have figured it out without seeing you do it! I ended up using a small blade screwdriver on both sides simultaneously to pry them OUT (horizontally). I could not seem to do it one side at a time. When I found the sweet spot, the roller came loose easily. Turning the tire inside-out revealed the inside surface was very smooth, so I didn't opt for that. I just stayed with the original exterior side and rotated it to orient the best surface at the pickup point. I used silicone waterproofing liquid to clean the tire (the rubber), which only had some minor cracks. It went back in quite easily. Worked great on first try and on all pages since. I may buy a spare tire on eBay for next time. This has been a remarkably reliable and economical printer until the feed jams started a year or two ago.
Good for you! Many fixes work temporarily on the surface but the rejuvenator seems to actually make the rubber "young" again. I have extra rollers in the closet for if I ever need them down the road. Better to have one and not need it than to need one and have to wait weeks for a shipment.
THANK YOU!!! I suffered through near-constant paper jams for years from this printer, and I can't believe it only took an $8 part and your 6 minute video to fix the problem.
Thanks for sharing this! I had am ML 2010 in storage forever and just reversed the roller (with your help) to get it working. Very fiddly to get the roller out -- finally just used pliers to grip and pull the tabs away. Did something similar on an ML 1210 years ago.
I always love to see practical advice and on-the-fly toolmaking solutions like yours. Very good video/audio production and editing work. Now I fix my ML-2010.
I remember using this in the past, I found it again and am ordering new rollers. Thank you so much. This printer is a workhorse and takes generic cartridges.
Thanks to your video I bought one from EBay (for $1+$3 shipping) - and due to 3-6 weeks shipping to Hungary, I "repaired" my original with a slight rubber shift AND an electrical tape to the rubber support (I measured: 0,1 mm worn away). Before I tried another "Just clean" video hint (which is easier) - and it worked for 5-6 feeds, but not more. So my 10-years-old ML1610 printer now reliably feeds paper again. I did not want to throw away, because I have extra toner for it and refill is VERY easy (no chip, etc). HP (who bough Samsung printing division) will make repairs life harder...
Thank you very much for your comment! If one can wait, it is amazing how cheap a new roller can be. Or with paying for faster shipping, it's often pretty cheap to get 6 or 12 rollers instead of just one…essentially a lifetime supply. In my case it meant I was ready when any of my several printers needed a new roller. And thank you for alerting me to HP buying the Samsung printer division. I wonder what difference that will make to quality and prices.
This video is SO useful. I've just retrieved my 2007(!) Samsung ML-2010 laser printer from the garage for my Mum. A cheapo cartridge and a new roller from eBay and it'll be ready to ... roll 🙄. Who says old RUclips videos are of no use? Not me.
Thanks for the video. I just replaced my pickup roller rubber on the scx4521. Saved it from going into the trash. Good old printer still going strong ! 🙂
Thank you for this! I could not for the life of me figure out how to replace the roller. The tabs were driving me nuts. You saved from having to get a new printer.
Thank you so much for this!! I thought my printer was dead for sure and didn't know you could do this at all, but your video saved me the cost of an entire new printer! Also, I looked online and people recommended turning the old rubber inside out (if it isn't completely worn like the one in your video) and it worked for me.
Hi Michelle, I'm glad flipping the rubber roller inside out worked for you. It all depends on how old and cracked the rubber is. I like having a new roller on hand for when the old one finally gives out. And once the old one is out for flipping, I figure why not put on a new one and get another 5 years of carefree use out of it.
Great video, saved me from throwing my old printer away, I got the piece out and turned the rubber piece inside out since the inside was still in good condition. Thanks!
Thanks so much. The bit with the tabs was so confusing until I found your video. Then I grabbed a bit of copper electrical wire, bent it into position like your coat hanger, and was able to pull out the tabs... before, I had just been pushing them down and of course, not making any progress. Hopefully I can keep my 15 year old ML-2010 going!
Thank you so much. Your video is still very helpful in year 2023. My rubber ring is not cracking yet. So I used sand paper to sand off the old slippery surface, and it is grabbing the paper again. I will see how much longer it lasts.
Once the rubber is that hard it will fail eventually. It's probably time to order a new one to have on hand…or start using the rubber rejuvenator to soften the rubber again. More info here: www.maximpulse.com/tools/fixing_paper_jams.html
Thanks, that was just the help I needed! :-) I wedged two small jeweler's screwdrivers behind the roller tabs to keep them disengaged while pulling out the roller. Also it's easy to remove the entire front panel. When installing the new roller, there is a "false" click before it's all the way in. Push harder to get the second click. If the printer won't clear its error state, try removing and reinstalling the print head assembly, and open and fully close the top and front door panels.
Glad to be of help, Shaman! The main thing is folks get to see that any kind of tool can make this possible. I recall someone had long enough fingernails to do the trick! What is removing the "printer head assembly"? It sounds like a bit more involved. Another way to clear the printer is to go to the printer's control panel and find the print queue, pause it, wait a few seconds and then restart it. Alternatively sometimes turning it off, unplugging it, waiting and then plugging it back in can do the trick.
Easy enough (but a bit fiddly) and now works a treat. Thanks. PS I tried the rubber rejuvenator first. This improved things a fair bit still got occasional misfeeds, so this seems to have fixed it permanently.
Thank you! You saved me lots of grief and thanks to your instructions you made the job a breeze. Also found the music in your video very relaxing after trying to install the rubber for an hour without success.
I never thought that it would be so easy to change the roller. Btw. I had no problems to pull out the taps just with my fingers ;-) No more paper jam in just a few minutes. Great. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. W/o that, I would have disassembled the whole printer...
Excellent video for diagnosing a feed problem. ALSO: I noticed that the inside of my rubber roller was in good shape, so I just turned it inside out, and it feeds properly now. Now I can print until my replacement gets here.
This is great. Thanks. My roller was getting 'slippery' with rubber degradation, but it was intact. I just turned it inside-out to expose the unused side to the paper, which will probably buy me months or longer of use.
That is a great solution. Sometimes one can simply rotate the rubber roller to expose the unused part. It is funny how the rest of the Samsung printer keeps working and the lowly rubber roller is the part that causes us such grief.
Woohoo, it worked! Found it very frustrating trying to keep those tabs pulled out, and in the end resorted to a little brute force... Luckily nothing broke and from then on it was smooth sailing. Thanks!
Yay! Another printer saved from the wrecking ball! It is funny to realize one is doing the opposite of what is required. I clearly recall the first time I had a truck with reverse threaded lug nuts on half the wheels. When trying to remove a flat tire I didn't realize I was tightening by turning the wrong way.
@@maximpulse darn, got the rubber ring in today. installed it and it doesnt work. Now the problem is that the pickup hits the toner cartridge and cant turn down to pickup the paper. Seems like the rubber is too thick, even installing the original worn rubber doesnt work and hits the toner cartridge too. Not sure where i went wrong here. Makes a horrible grinding noise like a jammed gear. Tried it without any rubber on the pickup and it seems to go fine, just cant pickup any paper obviously.
I'm not a professional printer repairman and my knowledge is limited so I'm not sure what might be happening for you. There are different size and shape rollers for different printers. All I can think of is maybe it isn't positioned completely seated or maybe it isn't the right size roller, but those are just guesses. Have you held the new roller next to the old one to see if they match?
HOLD UP. Looks like the new rubber is super inflexible. So you really have to push down the plastic holding piece until it really clicks in. Theres an initial click and then a bigger click. WORKS.
Excellent video, well done! I haven't tried it yet with my ML-2571N, but I have a chance now thanks to your video! Thanks to your lovely assistant as well! -SB
Great video. I followed the instructions except instead of replacing the rubber I just rotated it 45 degrees. Worked like a charm. Thanks for posting this video!
You are so right! Rotating the roller rubber around halfway is a great solution. If you use the rejuvenator once in a while, that newly exposed side will last much longer. it is great t feel in control of the only thing that has ever given me trouble on these printers over the last ten years! Also I like having an extra roller on hand for that fateful day when I know my roller will break at the worst possible moment and I don/t want to have to wait days for it to arrive.
Thank you for your video. The most tricky part was those two clips. Now I'm printing again nicely. By the way, I noticed that I did not need to buy a new roller. I just removed the roller and flipped the rubber inside out and it seems to do the trick.
Thanks for the video, it worked really well! I found taking the assembly out even easier than dealing with a coat hanger/ tool to get the tabs to move. I simply reach in with both hands, moved the tabs slightly and pulled the entire assembly out all at the same time. Hope that helps! Thanks again!
Hi Paul, knowing about the tabs and what to do is the worst part of the whole deal. I'm glad your nimble fingers did the trick! Thanks for commenting!!!
Thanks for the video on replacing the pick up roller. After watching the video I got to thinking. When I looked at the surface of the rubber on my roller it was dry and crinkly but i wondered what kind of shape the inside surface of the rubber was in. So I removed the pickup roller ( which was quite easy thanks to you) and removed the rubber. looking at the back side of the rubber it was sooth and shiny just like new. So after washing it with soap and water I turned it inside out and reinstalled it in the printer. Hallelujah it works like new. Just thought I would throw that out there as another alternative for solving it problem. Cost= $0.00
Thanks for this - very helpful. I found it better to remove the cover of my ML2010 than to try to do everything from the front. There are only six screws to undo and it makes accessing the roller much easier.
Thanks for sharing your experience Peter! Now you have me curious about seeing how easy it is on the different printers I have…one is a 2010, which has the simple cover you describe and another is a 4521, which is the all-in-one in the video which appears to have a pretty complex cover. It's always fun to disassemble!
Thanks for the really helpful video! I found it way easier to remove the roller by simply pushing on both ot the tabs with my thumbs at the same time and then each a bit sideways. Then to roller almost popped out by itself.
Thanks a lot, i had to print a ticket for tomorrow and.... rubber was on one paper! i could make a temporary repair but i have aeroplane tomorrow...i will replace but, with your help, i did in 5 minutes
I'm glad we can help one another in times of need. It is great to have a little feeling of control when we are surrounded by technology. Have a good trip!
My roller was not picking up any sheet of paper anymore because it was pretty much baked by the heat, having strikes and small ruptures on the surface. I found that simply removing the rubber from the roller and turning it inside out (exposing the inside, now better surface) fixed the problem ;) I am pretty sure I won't get the same run from the reverse side of the rubber but it will definitely work until the new part comes in. While I don't see a problem wearing the rubber tire both sides, I strongly recommend against doing the same with clothing :D LOL.
Jim Spencer That's definitely an option to get more wear out of your roller. I'm the sort who likes to have a spare roller on hand for when those cracks becomes tears and the printer ceases working. Good for you finding a free solution for keeping the old machine going!
Still helpful in 2024. For me the roller was still in good condition in the sense that it wasn't cracked or anything. So I pulled it out and cleaned it thoroughly with hot water and soap. The first few tries worked fine (first time in a long time). Probably wont last long, but we'll see. However, the toner of course ran out as I printed a couple of test pages... Now the question becomes if I should bother with new toner for this ancient thing. Or, if I should upgrade so I don't have to keep carrying this printer back and forth every time I need to print something...
I have another viode showing how to apply a Rejuvenator to the rubber roller to make it like new again. ruclips.net/video/Hfrqd8SytX8/видео.html I first used a Rejuvenator (a type of cleaner/solvent/rubberizer) which makes the rubber "grippier" and softer so it can grab the paper better. I had several of these Samsungs so I also replaced at least one rubber roller. Lots more info on my web page here: www.maximpulse.com/tools/fixing_paper_jams.html
Hi Richard, one more thought: another solution to a roller with a worn surface is to coat the rubber with a "rubber cleaner and rejuvenator". If one searches RUclips for "Renew your printer pickup roller!", I have a video of how to do that, too. It actually costs more than a new rubber roller, but it's really quick and easy…it only takes a minute to do.
Nicely done. It appears that your technique would work with the ML 1610 as well...based on the roller, and install style. RE the different tabs on the roller: I think before I undo, I will mark lh rh, as the plastic part of the roller could easily go either way. (back to front, or front to back.
I was really inspired from your video. Thank you! Waiting for the new rubber, I had the practical idea to fix the broken rubber with the broken side inside and two elastic rubber rings (normally used for vegetables here in Italy). It works!!! Of course not for a long time, I think, on monday I'll get the new one. Mille grazie
Many thanks for the video! I just couldn't figure out what to do with the tabs. I've expected a roller change to be necessary, but a simple soapy wash seems to be sufficient, the rubber looks good just yet.
I guess Im asking randomly but does any of you know a trick to log back into an Instagram account?? I stupidly forgot the account password. I love any tricks you can offer me!
@Trenton Turner Thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site on google and im in the hacking process atm. I see it takes a while so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
Helped me in 2021 - OEM part# JC73-00302A. In my case I cannot wait for part to ship from China, however for the interim I was able to re-secure the broken belt with an elastic band to at least get the 2 pages I need today printed. Thanks!
Got it out, rotated & cleaned rubber. Now I can't get it back in. No amount of pressure seems to work. As a matter of fact, I think I've bent the square-ish "axle" that the assembly is on. Thanks!
I'm glad the video was helpful. I guess I should do a video on how to refill a toner cartridge! It isn't hard to do, but as with so many things, there are some details that aren't immediately obvious .
+Luiz Garrido Filho Sorry I didn't see your comment sooner! I don't know how to adjust or change the page separator. I've never had any trouble except when the rubber roller wasn't grabbing correctly or when there was high humidity and the pages struck together.
Genius tip - to undo the two clips, cross your hands over and use the fingernail of your left forefinger to pull back the right clip, and the fingernail of your right forefinger to pull back the right clip, both at the same time. Easy peasy! Also there is often a part of the roller that is in better condition, so you can bring it round to the position where the roller is currently white from rubbing against 10 years of paper. Another video suggests turning the roller inside out.
Thank you so much !!! I didn't think there was a tutorial even for this small detail... But evidently, I was wrong ;-) Thank you again (BTW - I fixed my old ML-2010)
Good for you! These Samsung laser printers were incredibly well built. It would be a shame to have them fade due to these rollers pooping out. It was quite an adventure figuring out how to fit a tiny camera (an iPod back in 2013) inside the tight confines of the printer. It's pretty cool how useful the video has been. By the way, I have another video about applying a rubber rejuvenator periodically which is easy to apply and really works. ruclips.net/video/Hfrqd8SytX8/видео.html
@@maximpulse I made the tool and was able to pull out the tabs - just like you did in the video. No luck . Can't budge it. I have a Dell 1100 Laser. I am stumped
Hi! Many thanks for your help! :) One question, What is the cream band under the roller? Sometimes that band I Think that makes dirty some part of my documents :(, a cream band on my sheets. Yo can see it at 1:57. Many thanks!
I looked at 1:57 and I'm not sure what you mean by the "cream band", but I try to answer anyway! I didn't get where I am today by letting ignorance stop me! All the cream colored parts are nylon plastic. Immediately under the black rubber belt is a cream colored nylon C-shaped part which the belt wraps around. Under that is a core which the C-shaped part clips onto. Behind those parts are a couple of "gripper fingers" (that's my term) that hold the paper against the black rubber belt as it turns. it could be that those gripper fingers are dirty and are smudging your prints. If it were me, I'd clean them off with a damp paper towel or makeup pad, let them dry and see if that helps. You can also try a little Windex on a pad/towel, just be sure to let things dry before printing a test.
maximpulse Many thanks maximpulse :), yep, excuse me if I didn't explain me jeje. Yes, I think that is a gripper fingers that help the C-shapped band to take the paper, it's too dirty, and the rubber band have the same cream-yellow tone that have the gripper band, I'll try to take a short video to explain me better :) Many Thansk again!
Your video is great! I fear ruining tabs since been at this all day without success. Also did not find parts number on Samsung website or where to order. I have ML-2010. Can u help??
Hi Gloria, Thanks! I agree: even when you know how to do this, it can still be maddening. I don't have the part number handy, but you can go to my web page www.greendept.com/maximpulse/printer/index.html and scroll down to the section "Replacing Samsung Pickup Rollers" There's a link in that section where to buy the rollers for $3.60 + $3 shipping. I bought some myself for my ML-2010. The center plastic part seems like it is made of white nylon, so it is much stronger than you might think. Nylon can be bent pretty far and still spring back.
Hi I have a problem ,after I removed the rubber roller and put it back the printer jams halfway through the scan and displays an error code 'ESU ERROR' please help.
I have a problem, Maxim Pulse. You see the envelope feed assembly at 0:16? Well, I lost that whole thing in my Samsung ML-2010 printer when it was in a shop for repairs. I need that assembly back. Do you know where to get that?
Hi Mr TV! I can send you one of mine. I have at least 3 Samsung printers (one is an ML-2010) I never use that part because I don't hand feed any sheets of paper or envelopes. The printer runs just fine without them in there. I don't see where you can buy one on the web. Send me a private message and let me know what you think. Make sure to add me to the list of folks you accept private messages from (if you have some sort of lock on that).
Hi Richard, good for you finding another way in. What brand and model printer do you have? There are so many different designs among the various printers that use this roller.
I had 2 methods that works if the rubber portion of the roller is not broken/badly cracked. 1) Coat a layer of rubber cement to add more traction. 2) Add a layer of double sided tape on the plastic part which comes into contact with the rubber to increase thickness by 1mm.
Unfortunately for me, my pick-up roller housing is different than the one in your video. It's even different from the roller housing in the Samsung repair manual. Probably because my printer was manufactured in early 2007. So, if there are two white disk shaped pieces, one on either side of your pick-up roller, you may need to slide those white pieces away from the pick-up roller and then gently finesse the roller housing off the shaft. I don't think it is possible to to remove the roller from the housing without removing it from the shaft.
Quite right about reversing the rubber roller pad to reveal a new "grippy" surface. I did mention that in the video. You can also just slip the roller pad around, say, 90 or 180 degrees and use that portion of the roller. In my case the rubber was cracked so I replaced the entire pad. Since the rubber pad had lasted something like 8 years, I figured I may as well have a totally brand new start. I am itching to make a video where I take the cover off one of these days. Thanks for your input!
So I have ordered the roller, installed it and made sure that everything clicked correctly, but I'm still getting a grinding noise... Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated... Thank you...
+jmtexan77 The only thing I can think of is the manual sheet feeder might not be installed fully. You can remove that and see if the noise ceases. The printer doesn't need that part to print.
+jmtexan77 It just occurred to me that the parts were not clicked back into their original position. If that were the case when the metal bar turns one or another part might be "left behind" and make noises. But you do say you are sure everything clicked back together. It is a pity it is so hard to see and reach back into the "cave"!
hello i have problem with scx4521 the pickup roller rubber is OK but when I put some paper in the tray the roller doesent start. When I "help" it and push it by my finger roller starts take paper and print what I wan't. It is all the time - what can be the problem ?
Krzysztof Stankiewicz Sorry to take so long to reply. When I have had the problem with having to help the paper in it means that either the roller needs to be cleaned and/or rejuvenated or replaced. Of course I try cleaning first.I have lots of info and sources for this stuff on my web site:www.greendept.com/maximpulse/printer/index.html
Quick hint for people. I was busting the hell out of my knuckles trying to get mine out. I built all kinds of impliments but nothing would help. What I ended up doing was actually cutting the black rubber with a knife as close to the bottom as possible. This gave me something to tug on. I used my fingers to push the clips down and pulled on the rubber , and it popped right out.
Re: Johnny Tucats Sorry if you had trouble installing your roller. You can see in the video (around 4:00) that it doesn't take much effort at all to click the new roller back into place. It's darned awkward reaching in there, and you have to have the right little "knobs" or "projections" in the right little slots, but once you have lined it up correctly, it does click in pretty easily. If you had trouble I can only guess it was either upside down or the knobs weren't in their respective slots. I agree the square bar the roller goes onto isn't the sturdiest part ever made, but I have done this procedure several times and when lined up correctly, it doesn't require much strength or force to install. I recall once where I was frustrated and then realized I wasn't doing it right. I relaxed, watched my own video again, looked things over inside the printer and in it went. For anyone doing this procedure: if you feel you have to use a lot of strength, back off and re-examine the procedure…it doesn't require getting heavy-handed!
maximpulse Sorry but I still have big problems reinstalling the roller. I used the old one and turned the rubber, but I should still fit. Please do you have any other advice?
maximpulse Now I managed. In my printer (Samsung ML 1610) the round small pins will be placed on the TOP side. That was my problem. Thanks anyway for the video!
Yup! All of our Samsung laser printers are merrily printing away. Gosh, isn't that something? Bought them around 2005 and they are still performing like new!
@@maximpulse I got one from my grandma she only used it for four 6 months and it has been setting up for years so it's still really like brand new. I'm waiting for a toner refill to come in the mail. Thank you so much for answering and a merry Christmas to you and yours.
@@davidbrown8303 Good for you! Just be sure to do the actual refilling of the toner outside the first time you pour in the toner powder…one wrong squeeze of the toner bottle and "Poof!" there can be a dusting of black toner all over the place.

Once the rubber is that hard it will fail eventually. It's probably time to order a new one to have on hand…or start using the rubber rejuvenator to soften the rubber again.

Thanks, that was just the help I needed! :-)
I wedged two small jeweler's screwdrivers behind the roller tabs to keep them disengaged while pulling out the roller.
Alternatively sometimes turning it off, unplugging it, waiting and then plugging it back in can do the trick.
maximpulse On the ML-2010 the print head assembly is removed by pulling out the black handle inside - it contains the toner, PCR drum, etc.
The best tip was making the tool to hook the clip to pull out.... I made 2 and worked great. thanks
Yay! it kinda reminds me of birds that use tools to get bugs in hard-to-reach places…
Thanks for the video. Just did this maintenance to my 11 year old ML-2010 and it prints perfectly again like it were brand new :)
Good for you! These are amazing little workhorses.
Easy enough (but a bit fiddly) and now works a treat. Thanks.
PS I tried the rubber rejuvenator first. This improved things a fair bit still got occasional misfeeds, so this seems to have fixed it permanently.
Yes, it is a bit fiddly getting in there. Good for you giving your printer a new lease on life!
Thank you! You saved me lots of grief and thanks to your instructions you made the job a breeze. Also found the music in your video very relaxing after trying to install the rubber for an hour without success.
PIR245 You are so welcome! Glad the video was helpful.
I never thought that it would be so easy to change the roller. Btw. I had no problems to pull out the taps just with my fingers ;-) No more paper jam in just a few minutes. Great. Thank you so much for sharing your experience. W/o that, I would have disassembled the whole printer...
Thank you, thank you, thank you! I have managed to fix my printer!
SO PLEASED and SO proud! Couldn't have done it without your help!!
Good for you! Power to the people!!!
Thanks!
+vitreo7178
Yay! I agree, those tiny tabs are frustrating, but I guess they have to fit in a tiny space. Well done on your DIY repair !!!
Great video! My fingernails were strong to pry the tabs back so away they went and now my printer is a feeding like a champ!
Yay!
Now we know why we evolved to have fingernails.
omg, was about to throw the printer away, turned the roller sleeve round in less than 5 minutes, and now it's perfect! Thanks a million
Good for you, Jon!
Ain't it weird that except for a couple dollar "rubber band", these printers go on forever?
Maxim
2020 and im here fixing my ML2010. THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. Had no clue to pull those tabs outward. Was pressing them down instead. THANK YOU
WORKS.
@@GuyWithAGweikeCloud Yay!
Now back to cruising singles bars with social distancing…
Excellent video, well done! I haven't tried it yet with my ML-2571N, but I have a chance now thanks to your video! Thanks to your lovely assistant as well! -SB
+Simon Baker
Hope it all went well for you and your printer!
+Atte Pulli
Good for you! For some folks flipping the rubber works and gives you some time until you need to replace the rubber.
Hi Paul,
knowing about the tabs and what to do is the worst part of the whole deal.
I'm glad your nimble fingers did the trick! Thanks for commenting!!!
Thanks a lot!
it was so frustrating to give the piece of paper a push ever time I wanna Print something.
But now it works like it was new ;D
+UrbanBlazer
Yay! Good for you giving your printer a second life! These Samsung printers never seem to die…only the pickup roller wears out.
Cost= $0.00
Awesome - my thirteen-year-old printer now works properly again. Thanks
Good for you! These old printers are such faithful workhorses.
Cool! I'm glad you found a way that works for you!
It may even matter how dexterous one's thumbs are! ;-)
Very nice explained and self corrected the little problem in the miffle
Still helpful in 2024. For me the roller was still in good condition in the sense that it wasn't cracked or anything. So I pulled it out and cleaned it thoroughly with hot water and soap. The first few tries worked fine (first time in a long time). Probably wont last long, but we'll see.
However, the toner of course ran out as I printed a couple of test pages... Now the question becomes if I should bother with new toner for this ancient thing. Or, if I should upgrade so I don't have to keep carrying this printer back and forth every time I need to print something...
I have another viode showing how to apply a Rejuvenator to the rubber roller to make it like new again.
ruclips.net/video/Hfrqd8SytX8/видео.html
I first used a Rejuvenator (a type of cleaner/solvent/rubberizer) which makes the rubber "grippier" and softer so it can grab the paper better.
I had several of these Samsungs so I also replaced at least one rubber roller.
Lots more info on my web page here:
www.maximpulse.com/tools/fixing_paper_jams.html
Hi Richard,
one more thought: another solution to a roller with a worn surface is to coat the rubber with a "rubber cleaner and rejuvenator".
Wonderful temporary solution! Thanks for sharing a new idea.
@Kingsley Caspian Instablaster ;)
Thanks!
Good for you figuring out a "make do" solution!
Very useful. I changed the roller in Dell 1110 by watching this. Thanks.
Got it out, rotated & cleaned rubber. Now I can't get it back in. No amount of pressure seems to work. As a matter of fact, I think I've bent the square-ish "axle" that the assembly is on. Thanks!
Another success story, thanks for the video. Now if I can just figure out how two refill my own cartridges effectively....
I'm glad the video was helpful.
I guess I should do a video on how to refill a toner cartridge! It isn't hard to do, but as with so many things, there are some details that aren't immediately obvious .
All I can say is that if you get the time PLEASE!!!!! lol
Thank you for the video. Really good. Do you know how to change de page separator? My printer is sometimes pulling more than one paper.
+Luiz Garrido Filho
Sorry I didn't see your comment sooner!
I don't know how to adjust or change the page separator. I've never had any trouble except when the rubber roller wasn't grabbing correctly
or when there was high humidity and the pages struck together.
+maximpulse Thank you!! No problem.
I was going to give up on those clips and then I tried this. THANK YOU!
Amy Hasinoff
Yay! Getting good suggestions like this is why I like to say "That's why God made other people!"
After one hour of efforts your video gave me the solution.
Thanks bro.
hey man, thanks a lot! i didnt changed the rubber, i just changed its position and it helped to ;)

One question, What is the cream band under the roller?
You can also try a little Windex on a pad/towel, just be sure to let things dry before printing a test.
maximpulse
Many thanks maximpulse :), yep, excuse me if I didn't explain me jeje.
Hi Gloria,
Thanks! I agree: even when you know how to do this, it can still be maddening.
I don't have the part number handy, but you can go to my web page www.greendept.com/maximpulse/printer/index.html
and scroll down to the section "Replacing Samsung Pickup Rollers"
There's a link in that section where to buy the rollers for $3.60 + $3 shipping.
I bought some myself for my ML-2010.
The center plastic part seems like it is made of white nylon, so it is much stronger than you might think. Nylon can be bent pretty far and still spring back.
Hi
I have a problem ,after I removed the rubber roller and put it back the printer jams halfway through the scan and displays an error code 'ESU ERROR' please help.

Hi Richard,
good for you finding another way in.
Hi Michael,

Wow thank you so much. With two thumbs does fit 👍
Sometimes it's good to be all thumbs!
Hello, my printer's (Samsung ML-2010) pickup roller is rolling only one time. What can I do in this situation?
All I know about is replacing or rejuvenating rollers on the Samsungs.

+jmtexan77
The only thing I can think of is the manual sheet feeder might not be installed fully.
You can remove that and see if the noise ceases. The printer doesn't need that part to print.
+jmtexan77
It just occurred to me that the parts were not clicked back into their original position. If that were the case when the metal bar turns one or another part might be "left behind" and make noises.
But you do say you are sure everything clicked back together. It is a pity it is so hard to see and reach back into the "cave"!
where can I get a replacement roller for this exact model? I have this printer
I would like to know as well. I also have the same printer and really need it fast
Hi!, do you know the pickup roller pack number. Great video.
If you go to the Samsung site and search on roller and your printer model number, the part will pop up.
hello i have problem with scx4521 the pickup roller rubber is OK but when I put some paper in the tray the roller doesent start.
Thanks for sharing your solution. It is a very tight space in there. It was a challenge to get a camera in there, too!
I found it far easier to cut out the old rubber with a small utility knife. No hassle with the stubborn clips.
I assume you mean you cut out a little bit of the roller, not the whole thing.
muchas gracias por la ayuda me funciono muy bien por que yo creía que solo se presionaban y salia

You are welcome! I am glad this video helped you.
Re: Johnny Tucats
Sorry if you had trouble installing your roller.
Is your printer still working.?

@@davidbrown8303 Good for you!
Just be sure to do the actual refilling of the toner outside the first time you pour in the toner powder…one wrong squeeze of the toner bottle and "Poof!" there can be a dusting of black toner all over the place.
