Regarding the “motorbikes with seatbelts” question, consider this: In a car, most of the impact is carried by the car frame, and your momentum is distributed btwn your seatbelt & the cushion in front of you (airbag or front seat). But in a bike, much more momentum is concentrated on the rider since the bike is so much smaller, which is why riders fly so much faster/harder on impact. If all that energy gets concentrated into your hips via a seatbelt, that could easily cause major damage. (Not to mention the additional danger of being tied to a fragmenting & potentially-explosive hunk of metal & plastic & gasoline.)
I think a much more immediate danger with motorcycle seatbelts is that motorcycles fall over. They at the very least fall to one side and slide along the ground, at worst they tumble over and over. When a car rolls over, you are protected by the structure of the car. When a motorcycle rolls over, (if you are tied to it) you are that structure.
I feel like next time they need to add charges on the medics for safely driving. This is cute and all, but they getting off scott free with just a Bau bau is kinda frustrating when everyone else kinda suffers under the capitalistic pressure.
