All I can Say is that I come across a very Strange 'Constable' of Sergeant Rank who was Not very friendly. I tried to give him the ole' Jedi Mind Trick but he refused at first to budge, It did make for a funny encounter.

Yeah.. the office of constable literally gives them "legal powers and control" over members of the public. They're servants of the crown by nature of their job, and with that comes enforcing the law and keeping the King's Peace. It also happens to be, that they are a public service who provide assistance and intervention to protect members of the public in situations that require it. That does not mean that they are at your beck and call as members of the public whenever you want to holler abusive language and behave in manner which is just disgusting and disguise it under "you're a public servant". If there is potentially an offence at play, they are required to investigate that. Get over the entitlement.

Firstly, the sergeant should have approached more professionally.. it was his lack of professionalism and attempt to bully that earned him the response.
secondly, The public can be as obnoxious as they like when being badgered by the police over lawful activity... the police officer should have just put his ego down and walked away.

Just because you can be obnoxious doesn't mean you have to be or shouldn't be. The trouble is if people continue down this road, all that will happen is that the law will be changed and it will be their own fault. They'll become a victim of their own arrogance. It's the way that these "auditors" execute what they're doing. They need to be more constructive in their approach.

Years back the Sgt's exam was considered difficult. Clearly they're handing stripes out willy nilly nowadays.

Difference being that a judge is in a required position of respect and authority, and members of the public are not in that authority position. Saying mate does not diminish any respect. Ever thought about that, context is everything my friend. Completely ridiculous strawman.

I bitterly had to explain to a copper once that he has to be polite as he’s working in an official capacity and I choose to be polite to ease the conversation but I don’t have too. They seem to think that just by being a cop they get respect but respect is earned.
