woooooow this is unreal!!.im planning to go on this trip very soon!i watched so many documentaries and videos about 88 temple, but!be honest this one you made it everything is wonderful ,the video ,sounds and all you filmed it!thanks a lot .stay safe .be happy mappy both of you in your entire life !
I’ve been thinking about this trip since seeing a documentary about it years ago. GREAT piece of art you’ve created here. So glad I was lucky enough to see it
the local people traditionally welcome pilgrims regardless of your nationality, race, and even religion. though this kind of trip might not be your first thing to do in Japan, you’ll definitely see what Japan really is like. most of Japanese you’ll encounter there are unlikely to speak English, however, I suppose, that’ll be not a big deal. about a year ago, an Irish woman asked me for help because she couldn’t find 納経所 where gives pilgrims a stamp on their books at 太山寺 in Ehime. she tried to communicate with me in Japanese in a clumsy way. as a Japanese living in such a rural area, that was the first time to see a foreigner seriously trying to communicate in Japanese, which simply made me feel happy since at least that moment, she tried to be in our culture while lots of tourists in other parts of Japan avoiding to speak Japanese. most likely, you won’t see real Totoro or chihiro, but you could understand how Japanese pilgrims used to purify themselves from olden time.
Wow! Really enjoyed your Shikoku Henro and the choice of background music. Beautiful and interesting. Thanks so much and bravo! I like the accomodations in your video. Did you need to book in advance? As I'm a slow walker and a wanderer ;-p
You might call this the long version, but my wife and I could watch another hour. Beautiful and now it is going to be on our must do list. If I could ask a couple questions. 1- did you have a guidebook that identified the stages to walk? 2- that stamp scroll you had at the end, is that a stamp for each temple you Visit? That’s is beautiful!!! 3- was the trek well marked to keep you from getting lost Thanks and I hope you don’t mind if I ask the occasional question as we plan this trip Chris
Hello. I don't speak English, so I write through Google Translate. Yes, there is a book whose path is marked on the map. Yes, a seal is required in every temple. Register in the facebook OHENRO SAN group and you will find answers to all your questions if you plan to go this route.
Superbe!
I am inspired to do this trek. Approximately what is the kind of financial budget that one must have to do the trip (exclude arrivals to Japan etc). Is there a Henro office or volunteers who can help with the planning for where to stay along the way etc. Yoroshiku
You need to buy a book, there is a marked trail and a lodge with telephones. No need to plan a route, just follow directions or phone apps. Accommodation is expensive at $45/$55 with dinner, but you can spend the night in tents, then the trips are inexpensive….
Thank you for the nice video. Looking forward to my trail next year.
