Another cool guitar like instrument is the bouzouki where the D shape becomes your C shape so all your cool D minor and D7 licks can literally translate into fast C playing. Phil X kinda pushed the bouzouki as a way to expand your guitar and music knowledge and it has helped me understand music so much better turned the struggle into skill.
I usually tune my strings E,A flat,F, a, bflat, b. Then I use a capo on the second fret and alternate picking makes it all work . I play in c major like a motherfucker.
I love this sound. Unmistakable.
I blinked and missed like 80 notes. Just sounds so good and so smooth. Very inspiring. Thank you Marty for having this on your channel.
Haha the fingers are a blur
Somehow bluegrass dudes are the only guitar players who get every note on every string perfectly in tune.
Guy literally said "little out of tune"
@@andyshep2576 bluegrass little out of tune is in tune for regulars
I beg to differ? Are you saying Guthrie govan, Jeff beck, etc play out of tune ¿?
It’s because it’s just acoustic all day every day. That shit is a second language to them, you can’t gimmick an acoustic.
Flatpicking mane
tht d run was CLEAN MY BOY
All of these licks and that guitar he’s playing are taken right from the man, the myth, the legend, of bluegrass guitar, “Tony Rice”!
For sure underrated.
Luke is an insane guitarist. Incredibly talented
The first slower sequence sounded amazing!
Now I have to find them slowed down
The speed control on RUclips is a great function for beginner guitar players such as myself 😅
@@srt5musik I'm an experienced player & I fully agree. Odysee also has it.
You can't use the slow down from RUclips on shorts. Or can you?
@@gregalderson128 I haven't been able too, that being the exception.
@@gregalderson128sure can. Save to a playlist, then go to playlist, select the short. Select settings and change playback speed!
Bluegrass is so awesome!
We need a Marty and Lessons with Marcel collab!
That would be great! how can we make that happen?
I never knew Andrew luck was so good at Bluegrass
Mountain grass unit rips!!!! Crazy collab vid
Luke Black!!!! Love you and your magical playing, my brother!
Amazing WAITING for more “what was the first lick you ever learned” videos
Like flowing water . 😢
I don’t particularly like bluegrass music but those people are usually bad ass musicians.
I respect the hustle.
Fantastic!
Sick as always! god bless!
Yeah its like somethin like super simple like… good job man, killer licks
Very cool short!!!!
Bluegrass guys have such perfect pitch when they play oh my lord
Marty, I can’t thank you enough
Honestly, this is right where I’m at musically, great short, subscribed. I’m gunna try this.
Beautiful
1 - 4 - 5 baby!
I am just starting to be able to play this stuff . Its way harder than it sounds but very fun once you start picking it up .

More mandolin like
All I hear is “nation wide is one your side”
That’s a new scale for me lol Yeo Marty
Bluegrass is the best
He said capo 2 and I got worried for a second
Good stuff.
Crazy
Toooone!
Iove d runs
I need the tab for this 🔥
Love to see the Santa Cruz guitar
I just started learning blue grass style music on guitar this is definitely above my skill range but I think I might manage
Very nice
i don’t understand how i go about learning that skill and knowledge
You're holding a mini computer in your hand with all the knowledge ever documented
Luke is the man 🔥
“Like this is a simple…”
I figured out how to be slash from this video , I know slash ain’t bluegrass but I hear them scales lol
I actually like that there's "gatekeeping" in bluegrass & jazz. Challenging styles require rules. Also Love they usually insist on vintage guitars
I struggled never gonna make it
“Yep…..I reckon I’ve got that now…..”. 🤓🤣🤣
I usually tune my strings E,A flat,F, a, bflat, b. Then I use a capo on the second fret and alternate picking makes it all work . I play in c major like a motherfucker.
What does he mean by "position". I see the chords he's playing, but what scales is he using? How do the scales relate to "position"?
If Adam ondra and Andrew luck had a kid
Like this is a simple...(coool 🙄)
This is bluegrass style? Who can I look up for some inspiration? And nothing to crazy y’all 😂 I’m still learning
Lessons With Marcel is a great resource. And if you want your mind blown, look up Billy Strings.
Search Dark Hallow great full dead guitar lesson it'll give you pretty much all
You need
Billy strings plays really basic stuff. Easy to pick up.
Tony Rice, Chris Eldridge!
Luke black rocks
I hate how they make it look so damned easy. lol
Ok but how to get this sound, i play these scales and it doesnt sound like bluegrass
What tuning is that?
Standard
Capo 2
Where can i get a guitar for big ass shaq o neal fingers cause every damn guitar i use is so small
They must use open tunings
Good to see Andrew Luck landed on his feet
The man Luke. Could barely keep up.
Where does the speed come from.. and dont tell me practice
Practice
Practice. If you think that's fast, listen to Billy Strings
Most Pros play bluegrass by choice...and everything else for money. :)
@martymusic more like this!
:)
Oh man descending scale no way thats so difficult
Those aren't "classic" licks, they're Tony Rice licks.
And Tony rice is classic af
