    You are the man! I hope you show building the whole thing. I never seen a rebuild if a M8! Thanks for the lessons.

    I just bought one of them carbide scrapers from Snap-On last year. Best scraper I ever owned. I recomend them to all mechanics.

      they don't work to good on thick gaskets but they work good on getting the last of it off the surface. that is why i use both types.

      @@TatroMachine I discovered them while trying to remove a real stubborn head gasket on a evo sportster.
      I had a carbide machinist scraper that's designed to scrape machine ways & just scraped it down layer
      by layer. I was impressed how good it worked.
      I didn't want to use air tools & didn't have a glass beader. When Snap-On came in a few days later I asked him
      if he had anything like it. The one he had was about $60 with a rectangle sharp edge. It doesn't booger up
      the machined gasket surface & will scrape down the thick gasket layer by layer. Without a glass beader, It's
      the best way I found to do it with the tools I have. Thanks for the responce Tatro. I like your channel.
      P.S. now that I think about it, the glass beader wouldn't have been any good anyway. I wasn't stripping the head down.
      I was just fixing a cylinder base gasket leak.

    I have a 2001 FXDWG. Timken bearing. Decent crank. I can deal with the plastic chain tensioner or its conversion. But this…!!! Wow. Glad I didn’t buy an M8.

    Hi Tatro, I’m replacing the main bearing, which side would you press it in from and would you use heat on the case or anti scuff paste …. as always thanks for the great videos

    • @TatroMachine
      @TatroMachine  2 года назад +3

      be careful, these cases are very thin and like to break. only use the correct tools to support the case at the bearing. i don't know what that paste is but a little heat would help you.

      @@TatroMachine can I assume you would press it in from the cam side not crank side? Thank you so much

      i don't know because i don't have it in front of me. i also don't have the tools. first i would look at it and then i would make a tool to do what i wanted. the video saif 1st look for a reason. that was the 1st time i seen the inside of a m8 and my job was to fix the cam bearing and tell the guy putting the motor together what i thought i would do on the rest of the job.
