The campaign ended with him liberating the Kobolds and reteaching them the old Lawful Good ways of their clan, as well as founding a school for Rangers. my first Kobold character is a college of cuisine bard. He takes pride in his culinary work, and is wishing to get reunited with his clan that he got separated from during a snowstorm. He knows where they were headed, but he's afraid to make that journey alone. The clan had decided to migrate after the death of the Silver Dragon that had adopted them. Not only my favorite player race to be, Kobolds are some of the most misunderstood of the races in the game. I would like this song so many times if it would let me.
This song gave me the idea of a custom campaign, based on saving poor kobolds from their evil masters, as well as other npcs. As the campaign would go on, the party would basically make a city grow in size, full of all the npcs and kobolds you saved, allowing you to get better gear and spell materials as time goes on. There would be rewards for helping building or participating in the city’s life too. For example, actively helping to build the forge will get you better gear (such as enhanced weapons, that deal damage with advantage). You could perhaps even take one and make it a proper sidekick, as it would level up alongside the party and become the town’s guardian as the party leaves after beating the final boss. Of course, said final boss would be against an Aspect of Tiamat or a particularly angry dragon.
I was about to fully geekout on kobold life and culture and then I saw the description, it is for your campaign, in that case, it is indeed a very good song, congrats on the work
A smart dragon always takes care of his/her kobolds. Satisfied and motivated kobolds are a strong economy. Strong economy = a lot of treasures. Lots of treasures = happy dragon.
Loved this boss! While not intentional this song has given me some fun ideas to talk with me DM with about my DnD Kobold PC Stalt. Little bundle of nerves and a cinnamon roll but trying his best…. He has been stepped on or punted multiple times by accident by party members
I've made a couple kobold characters now, my favorite one i played was this little guy who wanted to get the attention of his dragon overlord so he went and joined an adventuring party to get gold to offer for the hoard. In his ambition, he took inspiration, using gunpowder to mimic the flame and ferocity of his master. He instead got the acknowledgment of his adventuring party and grew as his own person, but that isn't important. So, long story short, just a kobold with a gun.
It seems my kobold priestess also just got a continuation of her motivation. Which she didn't ask for before, but it looks like she'll have to think a lot...
Pretty song, sad but pretty. Not really about kobolds in D&D though since they tend to be pretty dang spunky. I guess it depends on how your DM has been portraying kobolds though.
I think this goes over some of the dark dragon lords in base D&D. While many if not most kobolds live serving dragons or other masters they actually enjoy it. They are more cult members then slaves and believe their servitude is that like of a god. It's interesting the deeper you go down kobold lore in d&d
Okay, just hear me out plz. I don't know where you suddenly appeared from, but that was absolutely beautiful... and absolutely mind-blowing. (and I will definitely listen to all the songs on this channel :D ) First of all - it's a simply stunning direction of covering the life situation of kobolds for the last 26,000 years or so. Not all of them, of course, but a sadly large number - who were rarely remembered in such a way, much less made into songs. Ave to such bards. Secondly - that line... -"If mercy came, they'd stand up tall, But mercy rare for ones so small."- A month ago - when the muse simply bit me hard - I spontaneously wrote the skeleton of the story in an hour, which I'm now finishing. And there the main character kobold-priest is in LITERALLY this state - she was very lucky that a merciful force paid attention to her (literally the Order of Mercy of the goddess Tamara, what could be more literal gawd), because of which she reached rather atypical heights for a kobold... and about which after years of a quiet life she began to think (after some explosive events). As well as about what can be done with this further... not without some hidden prodding thoughts from someone. So the line really hit my heartstrings, thank you. P.S. - I would be VERY interested to know what software was used to create this song and whether the lyrics were generated. I had several ideas for developing some bardic pieces in this direction in a couple of other languages, but this masterpiece turned ideas into confidence and I would like to try. ... and yes, is it possible to use this song with a reference to it somewhere?
I...may have to borrow this for my next campaign. My homebrew has fluid time, and the current party is in the time period where the Great Revolt took place. My setting...has Kobolds as the most common race. And at this particular part of the settings history, the Kobolds revolted against the Dragons, demanding rights, pay, etc. the Kobolds Unionized...in much the same way the Colonies did.
Fun song, I feel it doesn't fit the common kobold, but maybe a specific clan or one that you might typically find in Abeir. Kobolds typically venerate dragons and will gladly throw their life away at their whim; but as a cultural matter, they are happy in the mines and rival the dwarves and gnomes in ingenuity and industriousness.
It definitely isn't your average group of kobolds. But I really like the less terrible version of kobolds. So when I run games I usually have it so Kobolds actually have a unique response to Dragons Frightful Presence where they basically become charmed by it hence the total lack of self preservation.
Oh, I thought about that scenario too! Not against all dragons - but against quite a few (mostly completely bad chromatic ones). Up to the creation of long-range dragon-slaying special forces units with literally anti-tank guns with a crew of a tier kobold per gun... imagine an EXTREMELY mobile, completely invisible ambush group of small greblins with an equally mobile weapon that can give the dragon some very funny moments from a huge distance. And there are many of them. Very many. And they are very vindictive. Quite useless against armies, but large single targets can reduce them to nothing.
I'm not crying! Some one just hid some cut onions around here! Seriously though I'd love an instrumental for this cause a campaign I'm planning uses a Black Dragon as the BBEG and he's gonna have a lot of these pour little souls in his "service" and this'd be a great accompaniment to kind of hint that they really really really don't want to be here and never did in the first place.
On the other end of the spectrum, my PF2E Kobold was a Summoner with a Gold Dragon eidolon called Grandfather and an advanced medical degree from an ancient magic academy, who hailed from a bustling nation of Lizardfolk and Kobolds where dinosaurs are used as beasts of burden.
One of the first wizards I played was a divination kobold wizard. He was absolutely amazing. He would use mold earth to carve out a den when we camped and he tossed fireballs left and right like any good wizard should.
I wonder, if there is someday a song about the japanese "Yūrei" like the song of Yuki Onna... Yūrei, the lonely ghost, which haunts houses, schools, graveyards or the place of its death and is feared but only wants a friend. And if you become friend with the Yūrei, it will be a best friend forever and be on your side to protect you.
This is actually scarily similar to my first kobold character. He was continued on from my Tabaxi that retired from all the trauma. He grew up in the Sunless Citadel (the place we just explored) And was known as the "chosen" one in his tribe of kobolds. For he had a birthmark in the shape of a dragon. And he had a jealous twin brother. It was fated that he was supposed to go out and find a dragon and convince it to coe back and protect their clan. Except he didn't want to believe in that. He didn't want to spend his years findibg a dragon just to worship. Why would he? So in the dungeon he found old books, that spoke of magic, and machines, and contraptions similar to magic. And ended up studying to become an artificer...... then one day he finally left. Sadly we never really got to see his story play out cause the campaign ended but i miss you Valroh
In dnd there are many ways kobolds are portraid this is more twords dnd 3.0-3.5 and pathfinder version where other more powerful races enslave them in pathfinder for character creation as a player there stat racial bonus is -4 str, +2dex, -2 con. They get benefits to profession miner +2 and craft trap making +2, a +1 natural armor to ac and a +1 to ac for size, they have darkvision 60ft and sunlight sensitivity though in pathfinder you can get rid of sunlight sensitivity if you swap darkvision for lowlight vision it's called day raider alternate racial trait I think
found this song, brought me to an amazing channel. Amazing! I look forward to more. I'm trying to bring this into my campaign but they are in the Underdark. And I can't sing well lol
This song reminds me of Deekin, I was very fond of that little guy, and I have forever since avoided killing kobolds in video games if I could get away with it.
Not exactly lore-accurate but I still find it a touching song of tragedy. Kobolds are stronger than you think. Mr.Rhexx has some nice lore explanations about kobolds. I suggest you check it out.
Because Elder Scrolls was my introduction to fantasy, I always Invision Kobolds as smaller aragonians. So I'm watching this thinking of an aragonians warrior who got translocated hearing this song in a bar and being absolutely heated over it.
It's crazy just throw little this embodies kobolds; they're proud dragonkin, amazing crafters, arguably second only to dwarves in forging, and rich beyond all goddamn belief. Never feel bad for kobolds, they live better than you. Oh, and they very much go aboveground.
This fits hauntingly well with the Kobold Artificer I'm currently playing as. Before he left his pack, Irto was working as a tinkerer. The council of priests claimed they found a Dragon Egg, which would hatch and grow into a dragon for them to worship. So the council forced all work to be expedited, which lead to dangerous work conditions, and even accidents that either maimed or killed many of the workers. After almost a year of this state, Irto snuck into the chamber where the egg was so the could see the egg and possible baby dragon. What he found instead was a broken and rotten egg. Irto ran out of the chamber and began yelling about how the council was lying and all their work was for nothing, which led to instantaneous rebellion. Fighting broke out everywhere in the cave, and Irto began to ran for his life. Many explosions were being triggered from the now rickety working equipment, as well as crafted explosives. When Irto finally made it out, the entire cavern collapsed behind him, and he couldn't hear anything. Now he lives with the guilt of what happened to his pack. Mercy came, but at what cost?
@@niverian7789 If you import useful materials and especially technologies, they will simply make you their king and idolize you... there are no more devoted followers than the kobolds to whom you have proven your usefulness to their race. Both sides will get a lot of benefits from this :D
Reminds me of one of my characters she is a kobold druid (yes a weird combo but it's d&d we can be anything we want) she would definitely sing a song like this because she is sad her people are always seen as evil vermin and nothing more.
I'm literally finishing a story I started two months ago, with a kobold priest of an extremely interesting dragon goddess of mercy... and yes, if she knew how to hold a guitar the right way, she would definitely sing it.
It wouldn't hurt to ease the pressure on them a little, in my opinion. They've been living in "do or die" mode for the last few thousand years, of course, and they're not going to die out - but they're living, surviving, not developing. Especially considering what they've achieved before...
Also something to add dont underestimate kobolds either while weak they make up for it in numbers and traps if you play them smart they become the greatest neuscince i particularly like giving them escape holes and fall back to another place where theres traps waiting for you
Well there needs to be a campaign where a parties big bad is a dragon who keeps kobolds enslaved/ enthralled , but also the party will have to be careful because they will have to fight the kobolds to get to the evil dragon whose demands are to become more erratic over the generations of kobolds
is this on Spotify i need this i love kobolds as other mentioned its not exactly easy to find actual serious songs on a lot of things and checking out some other songs you do it so well. its just much more entertaining to actually have a song that doesn't make a entire joke of these races and more.
It's a nice song, well sung, emotive. But it's in reference to the kobolds of DnD right? Not sure how well it fits their perspective on their lives. They're generally portrayed as being pretty upbeat and easily contented
True, but it's also all most of them know. I'm sure some have the intelligence to think beyond their everyday lives, to realize it's actually not a good life. This also could be the way the DM set up this world so the Kobolds actually are well aware of their horrible enslaved lives. It's honestly a refreshing take on the cool critters.
I like kobolds a lot. However, I caution against too much sympathy. Kobolds have pride in their dragonic nature, but all they really inherit from them is their chromatic cruelty. Most kobolds are happy to torment others under the order of a dragon.

Well this is somber, very reliable.
FINALLY the algorithm suggested something good
A smart dragon always takes care of his/her kobolds. Satisfied and motivated kobolds are a strong economy. Strong economy = a lot of treasures. Lots of treasures = happy dragon.
It's a pity that too many of these oafs don't fully understand this - they are too egocentric :D
This was the longest three minutes and thirty three seconds of my life. Thank you for blessing my ears
Loved this boss! While not intentional this song has given me some fun ideas to talk with me DM with about my DnD Kobold PC Stalt. Little bundle of nerves and a cinnamon roll but trying his best…. He has been stepped on or punted multiple times by accident by party members
Poor guy, he definitely needs to work on his everyday visibility.
These big oafs can be pretty inattentive...
@ does it help or hurt they have the highest stealth of the party? Without magics
I wish these songs were on Spotify
I've made a couple kobold characters now, my favorite one i played was this little guy who wanted to get the attention of his dragon overlord so he went and joined an adventuring party to get gold to offer for the hoard. In his ambition, he took inspiration, using gunpowder to mimic the flame and ferocity of his master. He instead got the acknowledgment of his adventuring party and grew as his own person, but that isn't important.
So, long story short, just a kobold with a gun.
Keeps me inspired to play as my kobold paladin who wants to make the world a better place for kobolds everywhere
It seems my kobold priestess also just got a continuation of her motivation.
Which she didn't ask for before, but it looks like she'll have to think a lot...
@@Degrizai I love , that's cool
(and I will definitely listen to all the songs on this channel :D )
First of all - it's a simply stunning direction of covering the life situation of kobolds for the last 26,000 years or so.
Not all of them, of course, but a sadly large number - who were rarely remembered in such a way, much less made into songs.
Ave to such bards.
Secondly - that line...
-"If mercy came, they'd stand up tall,
But mercy rare for ones so small."-
A month ago - when the muse simply bit me hard - I spontaneously wrote the skeleton of the story in an hour, which I'm now finishing.
Kobolds:oh look at the silly little goober isn't he nice...want a treato.
Goblins: ugly little bastards. *Punted into the sun*
Another BG3 enthusiast, I see.
Legit part of one of my Kobold characters entire motivation is rising against dragons, being the very source of their extinction.
Seriously though I'd love an instrumental for this cause a campaign I'm planning uses a Black Dragon as the BBEG and he's gonna have a lot of these pour little souls in his "service" and this'd be a great accompaniment to kind of hint that they really really really don't want to be here and never did in the first place.
the meek shall inherit the earth and there are none more meek than the Kobolds.
THIS IS AMAZING WOW!
*my brain immediately starting to make a kobold character XD*
I love this song I felt the pain that hid within the words that sang in this kobold's heart❤❤❤😢😢😢
This matches the kobolds in one of my favorite campaigns I played. Character was a Kobold Paladin seeking to liberate his people from Dragon tyranny.
Need this on Spotify
Magnificent song, subscribed ❤
Depressed kobold is my new spirit animal
It seems like he's been there my whole life :/
I need this on Spotify stat. I play exclusively kobolds i needed this in my life
I wonder, if there is someday a song about the japanese "Yūrei" like the song of Yuki Onna...
He grew up in the Sunless Citadel (the place we just explored)
And was known as the "chosen" one in his tribe of kobolds.
"old books that spoke of magic, and machines" - oh yeah, that could definitely work!
Amazing work as always!
I've got a kobold Summoner, kinda fun to be able to fit where others can't 😁
Not exactly lore-accurate but I still find it a touching song of tragedy. Kobolds are stronger than you think. Mr.Rhexx has some nice lore explanations about kobolds. I suggest you check it out.
It's accurate to my lore, so that's all that matters.
Quite literally Kobolds are sad, however one Kobold easy to kill. MANY THOUGH, AND IN THEIR HOME! NAHHHHHHH THEY ARE CRAZY NUTS
Why does this work soo well….
Because Elder Scrolls was my introduction to fantasy, I always Invision Kobolds as smaller aragonians. So I'm watching this thinking of an aragonians warrior who got translocated hearing this song in a bar and being absolutely heated over it.
Ah man this is lovely.
That made me cry, I think I got too deep in character ToT
So good, but so sad. 😢 Makes me want to raise a Kobold den into the light. 😇
stellar song
And I will adopt them and give them a nice place to live!!!
As a bonus, after ten years you will have your own dungeon the size of a rather large city. At the very least.
@Degrizai yes but I would have my Kobolds well treated and let them live in peace. I would only receive from them what they choose to give.
@@niverian7789 If you import useful materials and especially technologies, they will simply make you their king and idolize you... there are no more devoted followers than the kobolds to whom you have proven your usefulness to their race.
Both sides will get a lot of benefits from this :D
I wanna hug and cuddle them. Do the protecc.
I am roleplaying a Kobold on a DnD based server, this is great!
That was beautiful
ooooooooh yeeeeeeees more kobooooo stufff YEEEEEEES ffinally more songs for my people.
This is SO good
This is amazing 🎉
Kobolds are some of the most do or die little shits to ever live. They need no pitty. Kobold together strong.
It wouldn't hurt to ease the pressure on them a little, in my opinion. They've been living in "do or die" mode for the last few thousand years, of course, and they're not going to die out - but they're living, surviving, not developing. Especially considering what they've achieved before...
be nice to kobolds
Kobolds are better miners than Dwarves and they have pack tactics.
... I will now make a Kobold way of shadows monk, name his Sqik swift foot, and he will lead the kobold revolution.
Also something to add dont underestimate kobolds either while weak they make up for it in numbers and traps if you play them smart they become the greatest neuscince i particularly like giving them escape holes and fall back to another place where theres traps waiting for you
This song is a bowl of onions :c
Well there needs to be a campaign where a parties big bad is a dragon who keeps kobolds enslaved/ enthralled , but also the party will have to be careful because they will have to fight the kobolds to get to the evil dragon whose demands are to become more erratic over the generations of kobolds
I haven't play a lot of DND because of inconstant DMs like only 3 that haven't ever finished
'sad kobold noises'
This is the song that is sung by the kobold bard when it’s time to hobble gobble and beg.
It's super effective...
is this on Spotify i need this i love kobolds as other mentioned its not exactly easy to find actual serious songs on a lot of things and checking out some other songs you do it so well. its just much more entertaining to actually have a song that doesn't make a entire joke of these races and more.
Awww. 🥺❤️
this almost made me cry because the lyrics are so damn sad...
This is such a sad song. 😢 Hits to close to how the poor and homeless have to live.
I like kobolds a lot. However, I caution against too much sympathy. Kobolds have pride in their dragonic nature, but all they really inherit from them is their chromatic cruelty. Most kobolds are happy to torment others under the order of a dragon.
why do i suddenly have a urge to make a kobold bard?
Stab does not approve,Stab will get friends out
